  • This is one of my standard training rides when I need to do something short but hard. It starts in Oakland Hills then loops around the Moraga and Orinda area before coming back.
About 1950ft elevation gain in 14.8mi. Grade tops out around 20% at the most extreme, but most of the hills are ~5-6% with 12-13% peaks. Not too shabby.
Alas, I haven't ridden my road bike (a Pinarello Prince) in quite a while, so some stuff wasn't setup right, hence a few stops at the beginning. Apparently I also forgot how to ride a road bike too, haha, hence forgetting I even had drops when it got fast--probably could have went a couple MPH faster in some sections. Also, when I started the first descent I felt my tires slip a bit at the beginning which kinda spooked me out for the rest of the ride, and thereafter I took the downhills far too slow.
But anyway, despite all that, it was a chill, moderately challenging ride for me. My favorite part starts @ 14min in, after the 180deg turn. You're pedaling hard but FLYING. Love it!

haha thanks man......... I actually live in Oakland Hills, so by the name you can already guess what riding would be like around my neighborhood. 😊 i averaged 168W average power, or 187W weighted power, so.... nothing to brag about, but it was good exercise for me!
thanks for the encouragement! It’s much appreciated

Reminds me of kona, where I live. If you head inland it is 5-8% for 4 miles until you get to the upper road. Or you can gain 5000’ in 15 miles if you want to go higher.
