Mashallah shaikh ....
Thank you for touching on this in this way. I think people forgot what music even means; it is any kind of sing-song or any kind of rhythmic beating of a table or anything of the sort. Any musical thing can be considered music. Did you ever hum? That could be music. Did you ever let out a tune through your voice? Music. Did you ever clap your hands in some kind of a beat? That is music. Why people are so afraid of music is beyond me. There is good, beautiful music such as the very famous and beloved "tala'al badru Alayna" all the way to Twinkle Twinkle little star, and all the way to some very bad, inappropriate rock songs and the like. Why are people only thinking of the bad, inappropriate songs? They don't encompass the entire world of musical art.
Good points
This is the most convincing argument I’ve heard on the topic of music and Islam. Surely sitting back listening to Beethoven’s ‘Adagio’ helps ground the soul and improves focus on life
thank you for this comment. And I write this as I am currently listening to Mozart's Piano Concerto No 21 in C, K467
I'm honestly not sure. I am a newish Muslim, and I don't want to be led astray. I love classical music, but have been told that all music can lead to being forgetful of prayer and Allah. Just the other day, I threw away my instrument (I played the tuba for 19 years) because I was led to believe that playing it means I incur sin. Honestly, the thought of never listening to Mozart or Beethoven again makes me extremely sad. May Allah make it easy for me ( if I'm really not suppose to even listen to classical music), Ameen.
Well Noted Ya Shaykh
definitely going to listen to your podcast for more info
salam. just wondering Dr.. if it's the lyrics only, if it's ok to listen to mozart so is it ok also to listen to hard rock metal instrumental? because it also inspires, like it gives someone hype and energy to wake up for fajr.. and is "singing" the Qur'an the same as reciting the Qur'an with beautiful voice or by beautifying the voice...?
"Singing the Quran" means reciting with a beautiful voice and following the rules of tajwid. As for heavy metal, I think that's a stretch....
@@MakingSenseofIslam it may seems stretch doc but heavy metal is a reality it exists, there r Muslim youth who are into it and other genre of musics, ok let's strip the vocal the singing because it may have immorality in lyrics, now a days it's easy to do that, just listen to instrumental rock, techno, dance, hip-hop. These kind of instrumental musics are ok then?
you nailed it bro.good point
May Allah guide this speaker and his teachers at Al-Azhar. Music is impermissible. There is a difference between musical instruments and poetry. Poetry contains lyrics and is independent of musical instruments
“Among my ummah there will certainly be people who permit zinaa, silk, alcohol and *musical instruments*…” (al-Bukhaari)
@@MM-mc8hs you clearly didn’t listen to what I said.
@@MakingSenseofIslam
I did in fact listen to your speech.
The Hadith is clear. Music is impermissible whether “good music” or “bad music”
Hi I need you're Help in something
so i make football videos and i must include kinda of exciting instrumental music in order for the viewer to not feel bored
is there anything haram/bad about it? waiting for you're response , thanks in advance!
Bad judgement, if you view it only trough lyrics. There are many genres , such as trance with only electronic music, which some people use on drugs. The less music the better for everyone. Music interferes with neurotransmitters in body, especially dopamine, and especially in brain. On the other hand, as far as I know, there's a rule in Islam, that what ever is harmful in large quantities is not allowed in small quantitiy.
Sugar?
@@ameenadeyemi1987 what about it?
@@sanelleric6121 sugar is harmful in large quantities. is it haram?
@@mikepon9514 what he meant was, if something is harmful if it is practiced widely, Islam makes it haram for even 1 person to do it as a pre-cautionary measure. nice response day, made me chuckle
@@mikepon9514 so is sleeping and eating. Be reasonable. If music interferes with neurotransmitters, it's basically drug.

Bro wat
Is this a question?
Deleted my comments I see
I delete nothing, have no idea what you're talking about
please feel free to post it again if you think it is of value
there is no such good music i have ever heard lol.
music is Haram . it destroy your heart . be careful!
Yes, there is. Speak for yourself, music as an art form is one of the most beautiful things on Earth. Of course there is some ugly and disgusting music, but that goes for any form of art.
@@AAC1157 don't make music Halal for your........! fear Allah !
@@rana_360 I have evidence to support my position. If you don’t agree, then so be it. Just don’t force your interpretation on others.
Music is haram. Why are you equating the recitation of quran to listening to music..stop misguiding muslims...it is haram..weather we listen to it or not or allow it or not it is haram..did the prophet or the sahaabah listen to music? Did they allow it? Where does the shariah allow music..did the 4 imams allow it and say it is halal??
The Prophet p.b.u.h allowed it in some context. One of it is during Eid when his wife Aisha is listening to a slavewoman singing and dancing, and Abu Bakr enter the house, upon seeing this, scolded her daughter. The Prophet stopped him, and say every people have their celebration days, and we Muslims have eid, so it's not wrong as means of celebration. Another hadith is when the Prophet p.b.u.h says the duff is permissible for women to play. There's other hadiths as well.
The position of music being permissible is agreed by the ulema. One of whom is Yusuf Al Qardhawi. It's not mere opinion from this ustadh. Wallahu Aalam.
@@boronir alhamdulilah that is all well and good and correct. But that is not what I'm saying. We know that the duff is..what about guitars and drums and basses and all other musical instruments now a days..and even during their times as well. Where is the daleel that music is halal because all the daleel indicates(apart from what you just noted Barak allahu feek) that it is haraam akhi
