I was a part of the team that made this (prior to restructuring; I'm still in the new team on an unofficial basis). The mod went through a troubled development process, which was largely due to disagreements with the dev team of the original cancelled Opposing Force 2 over use of the Opposing Force 2 name and assets (you'd think they'd be happy that another team was picking up where they left off??? But whatever). We were refused access to their logo in production art, for example.
I wasn't aware of the demo version being pulled down, but I'll be sure to look into it. It was my understanding that the mod was released as an open beta and still undergoing development and improvement.

The demo was removed because it used a pirated copy of hl2, I have it on my drive somewhere. But after it was abandoned by the Team after the original Spanish team another team called Nerve-Holle picked up the project and fucking drove it into a train wreck, and turns out they are now transferring to entire Project to the cry-engine. It’s so stupid. I had a version I was working on of transferring the RED demo to 2013 but I just got bored

That's some Valve level mapping over there.
What this mod needs is an actual team to salvage what was left from Menter's original design and redo most of the stuff from scratch in order to get with the times and bring it to 2021 quality. The mod itself was planned to be seven-chapter long, featuring locations like City 5, desert wasteland, underground complex and pine forest in Combine-occupied USA to name a few. Development screenshots also showed it to be in a more advanced stage of development than presented here, with original HUD design already being implemented.
Lost was an attempt to make something out of what was left by Menter and the original team, but it was just sloppily patched with glue and duct tape, rather than have had an actual effort to complete the mod as originally envisioned.
Here is how the original concept looked like:
The plot revolved around Adrian Shephard being released from detainment for unknown reasons, and the Seven Hour War was a still a recent occurence by the time he arrives in City 5. He joins the Phoenix Command, a special operations group consisting of ex-US operatives from various branches of the military, navy and air force, including the HECU, that was part of the newly forming Resistance. The exact reasons for his release from detainment by G-Man weren't clear, aside from the fact that he was still bound to his agenda. His mission in City 5 as a Phoenix operative was to prevent the Combine from gaining a foothold by establishing a Citadel, but we didn't really know how this mission goes. After that, the aforementioned locations were going to be visited by Adrian, but the details of the plot and how he got here, and for what reason... were known only by Menter and his associates at the time, and nobody knows what is he doing these days.
I'm posting this mostly because I hope someone who's interested in gamedev picks up this concept and make an actual, worthy continuation of Shephard's story, even if it's fanmade. And no, Prospekt doesn't count.

You think it's easy coming up with amazing games with amazing stories? Try it. Valve has a reputation to keep, they're not releasing any crappy ordinary game just because people like you complain they don't make games.
Three Majors Flaws I can see in this:
The Half Life Formula is missing for enemy introduction.
1. See before you fight - The games let you see your foe before you have to confront it, in all the games. Half Life 1, Half Life 2, and the expansions.
Save some instances fo course, such as HL2: EP2's ambush scene.

2. Show, Don't Tell.
The story doesn't flow, and its told to you. Both are very bad, make the mod itself look meh, and It feels like HDTF.(Hunt Down the Refund)
Cutscenes are not something you should do in the game, at least these kinds - Now follow the Half-life and HL2 model and you're in business. Interactive cutscenes, that you can ignore basically, are what makes the game good in that respect.
3. Continuity.
Leaper Zombies, Poison Zombies, and modified headcrabs weren't present during the Seven Hours war and came about a long while after.
Where is the Source for number 3? I'm curious, I've never read much about where those new variants came from.
Headcrabs exist in HL1 but doesn't exist in the Seven hour war? What weed are you smoking man. I do agree on the other two points though. I believe what you're trying to say on the third is that headcrabs wasn't WEAPONIZED during the war. It did afterwards.
just a random user he means fast headcrabs and poison headcrabs didnt exist until after the combine occupation. They are mutant variants of headcrabs that the combine engineers.

Wow, that map with a helipad is almost an exact copy of crossfire of HL.
I think that might’ve been done intentionally as an homage to it.

This gameplay is nothing like Half-Life, it doesn't teach you new mechanics, or how they work. Which was not Half-Life or OpFor.

This feels like it executes what HDtF tries to do but a million times better
After having almost a year from playing this I finally decided to post my thoughts on this mod
1. I like the concept of what opposing force 2 could have been. Sucks that no team has taken the assets from github and tried to expand on what was originally planned a la raising the bar redux.
2. This build that bolloxed played is problematic. Given that it’s been made by the team behind build 2046 it kind of peeves me for one important reason: the stupid white text that you can see from across the map that breaks the challenge and immersion of the levels and the levels are decent for what they are. Also I don’t mind the use of cinematic mod as a base but it belongs as a separate mod as it’s always been and not part of this mod with its obnoxious lense flair
3. The changes made also feel like a betrayal to the old demo of opposing force 2. Some of the new and returning creatures do not return in the mod. I recall running into some bullsquids that did nothing but stand idly and not even attacking the player. It also peeves me how they swapped from the original mods hl1 control scheme and just used the default HEV suit interface which feels out of place. Same for the weapon changes, if you saw the original version from the op4 2 demo you can’t see the difference and can agree that originals are better plus the fact that all have the same arm model also helps unlike some of the weapons in this version that are just retextured HEV arms made to look like a military uniform and yes I know some of the original mods assets were used but it’s only like a few of them like the shotgun. And even weapons such as the wrench is just a lazy crowbar reskin instead of having its heavy hitting function like in opposing force and the mods demo
4. Presentation is all over the place which is mostly due to the maps being just a rough compilation strung together with a pile of weapons collapsing onto the ground.The levels are still way better than HDTF by leagues. The “cinematics” also don’t make sense. All it is is either text from windows live movie maker with choppy third person gameplay footage with little context. The one with the camera panning by that big creature and the head crab in the vents were the best ones. The story is little to non existent and only told wi those cinematics. No character interaction, no dialogue, no nothing.
Overall I just hope another team tries to revive and expand on what opposing force 2 was going to be because there still so much potential in this mods concept

The fact that this uses Fake Factory makes this mod 5x worse.
It almost seems like a theme with these fan games, but the loading transitions are often really jarring. One moment, you'll be in a tunnel--- the next moment, you're in some room somewhere else. What they should do is make it obvious where you traveled from, instead of just essentially "teleporting" you somewhere.

The skins for the combine soldiers are great, the unused synth models? or are they custom? Either way, more mods need to use them and the setting being used in this mod, great storytelling potential here.

While the replacement of the crosshair with ADS does throw me off quite a bit, this mod does look really intriguing.
Hopefully more work goes into it to make it not only complete, but more like a HL game.

If this had been finished, I feel like it would end up amongst those bigger mods, like Black Mesa, and as much as a shitshow it was, HDTF, in the sense they became their own games, not just a mod.
