Gary Neville gives his reaction to Jose Mourinho's sacking as Man Utd manager.
Mourinho's future has been the subject of intense scrutiny this season - and the club's worst start to a season in 28 years was confirmed with defeat at Liverpool on Sunday.
Mourinho's final game in charge was a 3-1 defeat to rivals Liverpool. The 55-year-old Portuguese insisted at Anfield that he had not lost the dressing room, as his team sat sixth in the Premier League table and 11 points off the Champions League places.
But Manchester United announced on Tuesday that "manager Jose Mourinho has left the club with immediate effect".

He was the one who has made the manager appointments, he has clearly had far too much say with regards to transfers for a person who does not come from a footballing background and to me it smells of a person who is power hungry, and wants to have full control and he is not competent enough to have it.

Having followed utd for over 30 years, I have to say that their board structure is enviable. They focus on the business, and leave the football side to the manager. I'm not ashamed to admit it, I admire the running of the club and the anfield atmosphere.
Woodward seems to think he's a God at old Trafford. He's not. A restructure needs to be implemented and, if he's able, sir Alex to be instrumental behind the scenes.

He will be back to winning again, Winning is something he knows how to do...Man Utd s the next Liverpool, they are fuct for the next 25 years. history has an uncanny way of repeating itself, ironically it looks like a Liverpool resurrection now. After huge pay off to Mourinho. Jardim is free and cheap, He knows the top leagues of Europe. He can build you a team for the future and bring the best out of young players and play attacking football. Forget about top players now, United will be held for ransom because every club and agent can see their desperation.
Mourinho is top coach and his defensive set up and hitting teams on the counter works. The problem was that at United he never had sound defence and he had no technical counter attacking players that can take on players and beat them 1 on 1, he had this at Chelsea but the problem was players don't like playing that way, hence why he never lasts more than 3 years at the top clubs with technical players. Fellaini is another problem, his an effective impact player, but the sheer desperation of crossing long balls to him is not how a team aiming to win the league should be playing, they're on the back foot almost every game chasing 0-1 1-1 2-2 or 3-2 they were never gonna improve even if Mourinho got the 1-3 transfers he wanted.
Who ever comes in 1st needs to sign technical pacy wingers/Inverted Forwards that can take on defenders cut inside or outside shoot or put in low cross to players running into the box, Leon Bailey on the right flank is good start. If not another manager is gonna come in play side ways football, get stretched out and start crossing the ball to isolated Lukaku, then get desperate and bring on Fellaini to get players crossing to him.

No, you can say that about every top club yet they're doing better than utd. Fair enough the pressure is high in Utd but UTD & Barca are not that unique, every club goes through a transition phase just look at Liverpool for example, they had great teams in the past, winning leagues/cups then they had a massive dip & only now its starting to look like glory days are coming back. UTD are still going through that transition phase since fergi left but they keep getting dragged back by poor managers in charge, thats all thats happening.

I am a Man Utd fan but i have conceded that some players Shouldn't be wearing the shirt in the first place. Jose was always going to be leaving 1 way or another , he never sticks around more than 3 years. For me it was always how much Would the team improve under his tenure. They did improve , with players like Zlatan helping to secure 2 trophies. Just enough to keep fans happy , well For me anyway . This season just awful . No way will i blame Mourinho especially the well reputed 3rd year Mourinho for all of this but the blend of Manager and players wearing the shirt is awful atm.

Ferguson's success is what we judged Van gaal, moyes and Mourinho by.
Ferguson won the title and played teams off the park with decent players like Smalling, Jones,Evans,Rafael, Gibson etc
The moment he left, it all fell apart and these players were nowhere to be seen in terms of their performances.
Ferguson was a legend, how he managed to win with the players he had in the later part of his career.
Mourinho couldn't. He called it one of his greatest achievements to have finished second.

Some jobs are automatic L from the get go, sort of like coaching Newcastle. Manchester United is rich Sunderland at the moment. They throw world class contracts at average and old players. Zidane can see it from France, Real's bench was more technical than United's current 1st team. Zidane got lucky coaching a team that was peaking after Mourinho & Ancelotti put experience into the team. Trust me his holding out for PSG who will peak in 1-2 years time or Juve if Allegri gets the boot for not winning the Champions League.

The manager is just one factor in the clubs failure this season! Woodward is clueless on how to run a football club, he needs to be replaced too. Then, there are at least 7 first team players who are simply not good enough to play at the highest level: Smalling, Jones, Lendelof, Valencia, Darmien, Rojo, MCtominay, Pereira, Lukaku. Then, you have good players with an attitude who need some sorting out: Pogba, Sanchez and Martial. This is definitely a crisis.
