Thank you so much for the love and support on this one Ken!! Appreciate the love x
I agree, The Big Push are incredible live, also fundamental to Ren's Success. Peace out, much love to the TBP.
True legends of the street! Thanks for bringing so many smiles to the people. Much love
Big fan from Halifax, Canada! Please be well and continue making cool tunes :)
You are all so much fun to watch!!😃
Hope you all have the best week ever!!
Absolutely incredible
He was not just riffing with the lyrics. The song is Hip Hop by Dead Prez from the year 2000. It's actually a really awesome example of Rens (and the bands) musical knowledge. And they absolutely killed it! Love this!
I knew someone in here would know that. Good job! If I didn't see it pretty quick was gonna mention just for an FYI
I so agree with you !
I almost lost my mind when they broke into that. I saw Hip Hop in the title and just thought it was description or something lol. Awesome performance of one of the best hip hop anthems ever!
Ren is still dealing with autoimmune disease and receiving treatments. His love of music keeps him going.
The Hip Hop section was from a band called Dead Prez. The original was real hard core angry rap, but the Big Push made it a lot softer to get it to blend with the other two songs in the mix.
Request for reaction: Ren & Chincilla Chalk outlines Live
Ren could read the small print of a contract to me, and it still would be bliss 🥺 Such a phenomenal artist 🫶🏻
I was there that day and it may not have been pristine (to your expert ears) but from the audience members’ point of view, it was amazing. All the members of The Big Push love what they do and their joy fills the audience with magic.
You lucky thing! ❤
He gets that, indeed, he said just that.
ooh, as far as vocals go, you'd probably enjoy his "how to be me" duet with Chinchilla...
Ren x Chinchilla "Chalk Outlines" is a pure vocal performance. Two great voices to dissect!
Second that!
Absolutely MUST react to Chalk Outlines with Chinchilla!!! You will be AMAZED at BOTH their vocals!!! PLEASE check it out...will be looking for your insight on that one.😊🎶✌
100%!!!
💯 Ken you said you liked links so here you go. I think this will surprise you: ruclips.net/video/35yALr_opeg/видео.html
Ditto
What a singer. What a rapper. What an artist.
Oh, he’s very much a singer. Beautiful reggae notes throughout much of his music, with some jazz/ska stuff too - it’s hard to pin down.
He is a really good rapper and a really good singer. Lots of things to explore with Ren left. He just plays around with genres and his voice and the results are stunning.
Love this performance. And I’m just constantly blown away, Ren is a genius artist and magically superb human. ❤ Vocals, amazing. Musicality, mesmerising. Endless humility and authenticity. 🙌
Okay, this Ren guy is legit. I was impressed by the performance of Hi Ren, but seeing him working with the band makes clear that he's a musician. Another insightful reaction, too, Ken! Wait..."Ken"...."Ren".....hmmmm.......
When you see Ren live you see that he needs to conserve his energy. I imagine every performance wipes him out and has a big impact on his health. Fingers crossed he makes a full recovery and he can give his all on a tour!!
I don't think you can see that he needs to conserve energy from simply watching him.
I do mean live and not on you tube. I last saw him on Brighton beach last summer he was visibly tired and needed to stop. It was a hot day though.
I watched a video of The Big Push's last concert at the Brighton Dome, Sept 2022. He was visibly very tired by the end. Didn't prevent him from 100% delivering the goods to the very last note, of course, because he's Ren.
There is a busking performance where Goran takes over and Ren tells him ‘I’m done’ or ‘That’s me done’ because he’s knackered.I don’t think it’s voice though, definitely body. 🐇🕳️🖤
@@JoesNoseAppreciationSociety1 😓
Can you imagine listening to this quality of music for free on a public street? I've been to many a promoted performance in a venue that wasn't anywhere near this good.
As a vocal coach, Id love to hear your opinon on two tracts by Ren and Chinchilla.. Chaulk Outlines and How to be me. I think you will really love it.
"Ren x chinchilla - how to be me" , has some very good vocals, sung on a rooftop 2 voices one guitar they harmonise with sheer perfection.
One of my favorite parts about Ren is that he can have flaws in his music (Chalk Outlines actually has him mess up a chord in the very beginning that he even reacts to but continues to play). He's flawed flawlessly and it just makes him more human and relatable imo.
My take on the "mess up" is that it is part of the video, as most of everything is very intentional in what he does. We follow him as he seems to find himself the basement of a Psychiatric or treatment facility, wearing what looks like a patient's clothes in all white, looking at all the old records from past patients, he walks down the hall and finds the chair and guitar. He sits down and starts to play very tentatively. He plays 3 simple notes, then he hesitates and starts to find his voice to tell his story, along with Chinchilla when she appears.
As a whole "story", all of what happens in his videos is completely intentional.
But that was my take from the whole set up.
Yep adds to the 1 take he does so well. Can't fake a flaw or fault that easy.
Also it's Romains guitar so just adjusting lol
@@intothedepthscoco I wouldn't say intentionally done so much as expected to happen in some way and what we see is just that/those moments. It's difficult and fruitless to plan a specific chord off key I feel like but I do agree that it is part of the music and what helps add to it
@@BallisticAero But he does play the correct notes, he just pauses for one extra bar after the intro as he acts out collecting himself to start singing. It's not a mistake.
This is not those talent show idiots, this is paying your dues. I wish him/them that get the success they deserve.
Wow thanks for reacting to this! Please, you really need too check out Ren X Chinchilla “Chalk Outlines (live)” and “How To Be Me (live)”. Both are Ren originals and are phenomenal raw performances,
Agree wholeheartedly!
The big push had three front men, Romain and Goran sing too. I believe Ren’s mum was a vocal coach and both of his parents perform too. War pigs is great too among many others and the big push also wrote their own songs too. 🐇🕳️🖤
Sometimes it’s great seeing Ren, just having some fun 🤘
Thank you for this reaction. Maybe it was hard for you to go back having been so blind-sided in your reaction to Hi Ren, but it was much appreciated.
Completely agree about the intangible ‘magnetic’ thing Ren has. And also your big grin at Romain (the lead guitarist in the black skirt). Romain has an intangible ‘I’m loving this’ quality
Wabi-sabi. The beauty in imperfection.
Definitely need the reaction to Ren and Chinchillas "Chalk Outlines". Chinchillas voice gives me chills.
in the first verse he is giving the closest performance i have ever heard to repeating the phrasing and tone of Bob Marley, its uncanny
Ren's mother being a singing/voice coach probably helps him.
For straight singing, Chalk Outlines with Chinchilla (Live). Beautiful! And deep. 🥺
Check out Ren and Sam Tompkins doing man’s world/falling it shows more of his singing ability.
Loved this performance. The Big Push are all incredibly talented. Check out Bongo Bong, Praise You and Englishman in New York. The guitarist Romain Axisa has released some solo stuff - I like a couple of his guitar instrumentals "75 Beats to the Minute" & "Blue". He is also releasing a new track tomorrow
Great reaction 😊 love this performance
I just love how he always seems to truly enjoy performing. ❤
Appreciate the Dead Prez being mixed into this! That's the Hip Hop section.
I think you'd really enjoy their cover of Bongo Bong. And if you'd like to see some great rapping and music production check out his songs Losing It and Genesis. He's got some really heavy songs, but all three of these are just a fun listen.
Hell yes

Genesis - ruclips.net/video/YzsTdLIcbzU/видео.html
Bongo Bong, definitely one of my favourites from the Big Push due to the chill atmosphere of the video.
Loved it all the way through!
If you want to be gutted, again, do the Jenny, Screech (full, including Violet) Trilogy.
As a former singing teacher, all I can say, it's jaw dropping.
If you want to dive deeper into his rap chops, try "Genesis". It deep and beautiful.
Our boy Ren is a gem.
Brighton actually has a GIGANTIC Jamacian presence and influence. Due to it being a seaside city, it was one of the areas where they unloaded Jamacian immigrants escaping the civil war.
I'm not Jamaican myself but if I was I would be so proud of how Ren covered this Bob song to perfection
Dude, you have seen only TWO sides of this amazing young man.
He has a VERY unique way of combining a bunch of different styles and types of music together.
It creates something that people haven't heard before.
He has a MASSIVE amount of music.
From the indie band Trick The Fox, The Big Push, his collabs and his solo work.
I am sure by now, you have heard his story.
I think that since he TRULY believed he was going to die before he was 30.
He had so much music in him that HAD to come out.
He put out as much as humanly possible.
ALOT
The crazy thing, is pretty much ALL of it is different.
You have seen these two.
So, being a vocal coach.
I'd like to see you do Chalk Outlines.
It's a collab with Chinchilla.
Beautifully done.
SERIOUSLY beautifully done.
This was a GREAT reaction for me.
Hi Ren, hit you pretty hard on a deep level. So, it was difficult to watch. Because, I felt it with you.
THIS one, I got to feel the excitement of discovering the new side of Ren.
I'm really a nobody out here. (Not true) I'm just an average person.
But, I would REALLY like to see you start with Chalk Outlines.
(I don't have the link right now. But can send it if you like. )
Notice I said START.
This young man's vocal, guitar and lyrical excellence are unmatched.
I want to see you do this actually for YOU.
It's a journey I wish everyone would take.
See life from a different perspective.
He sings mostly about the beautiful HARD truth.
Sorry, Ren does this to me. I really could probably go on for days.
But, I will end by saying THANK YOU.
I will watch this one quite often.
Have a marvelous day.
The guy on solo guitar is Romain Axisa. He is also a very talented singer with different approaches on music. Give him a listen on his own youtube channel where has records of his own busking sessions if you'd like!
Fun fact. I believe Romain is the mystery guitarist in Ren's Money Game (part 1) video.
@@yogmesh He is! Not sure if it was on twitch or instagram Ren confirmed that :)
@@vornamenachname9905 On Ren's birthday twitch stream, I saw it too. :)
@@milu9099 Yeah, you're right! Now I remember. Seems I'm getting old
Ren is making life easier for all of us.
Oh, I enjoyed this reaction, thank you! I'd love to see you explore more of the world of Ren. It's absolutely worth it!
G'day #Ken Lavigne, hope this finds you well n happy. Love this lots. So talented aren't they. Can't get out the rabbit hole, Ren's on a loop. I'm happy to be with all the other Ren rabbits.🐰❤
I Shot the Sheriff is, of course, Bob Marley. Road to Zion is from Damian Marley, one of Bob's sons, all of whom have inherited talent. Hip Hop is by dead prez. Ren is great at creating medleys.
Known about this performance for quite awhile...talented bunch of people here...
Part of the quality of the sound for this performance is that they are using what looks like an HK Column Array speaker system.
Chalk outlines with Ren and chinchilla
He is Mr.Genuine ! A perfect day out in Brighton .
You need to check out Chalk Outlines, another song recorded live with Chinchilla if you want to hear him singing, it’s incredible
So glad you got back to Ren and enjoyed this one :) There's so many for you to enjoy - yes, he's a star!!!!
I don't think anyone has ever had as much fun playing guitar than Romain
Nice to see you check out something upbeat & joyous from Ren here on a sunny day in Brighton.... quite the contrast to the heaviness of "Hi Ren"! :)
Aside from the tasty guitar playing & capable raw singing.... I'm blown away by the conductor/band leader skills he shows here in shifting from the 2 Marleys' tracks (which I believe they've done before) into (an impromptu I feel) rendition of the Dead Prez "HipHop" track over the top. You can see a smile on his face when the other guitarist catches on & joins him in singing the main "hip, hop..." theme & he feels the decision is working. Great live work by Ren *& the band* to be flexible like that & pull it off. I doubt whether anyone in the crowd on the street understood what went on here- they just enjoyed some good music. I sense tho, that Ren is one of those high-IQ individuals who goes for risks in a live music setting to keep himself from getting bored! #BigMusicBrain ;)
The drummer’s mustache is epic.
He is a magnetic performer, I agree.
I bet standing in that crowd was far better than a stadium performance. Up close and live! Wish I was there.
Love your authenticity, as I love Ren's.
So glad you picked this version. with the Road to Zion/Hip Hop added. I think it is so smooth and anything that is a little off is still perfect. If you dare to delve into intense again, try Money Game 1 and 2.
“there was a really big push on that high note from ren” ha ha ha ha
Ren x Chinchilla…how to be me and chalk outlines are FANTASTIC
How to be me with chinchilla if you wanna be gutted again. So raw and amazing.
Romain Axisa wild guitar is 🔥 Ren is also playing it on Chalk Outlines.
spread the loved and support.
@RomainAxisa, the guy in the black skirt has a release on Monday at 7pm U.K. time which will be worth a look. Thumbnail shows him playing piano so that will be a new thing for all of us.
He released a single on guitar 2 weeks ago. In the Mood for Love
The one with Romain playing in the stairwell of his place before he left 🎶 😌 I could listen to that all day 😊❤
I love the vocals, but that hollowbody guitar just sounds amazing!
This was less one for a vocal coach, but 'How to be me' and 'Chalk Outlines', will definitely be up your street.
For more of Ren's singing voice, please react to Ren x Chinchilla 'Chalk Outlines' Live Version and Ren & Sam Tompkins - Earned it /Mans World / Falling!!! 🤗😍
Love your videos, Ken! Your opinions matter! ❤
Ren & Sam blind eyed ft angry car park man 👌
Would love to see your reaction to Chalk Outlines! More Ren reactions, please!
Bongo bong and then Humble. Cheers.
I love his Reggae songs!!
Gorran Kendall is the guy on the bass. He also plays the guitar and the harmonica, and frequently sings lead for "The Big Push." As a solo artist, he is a folk singer, and his music is reminiscent of 60s folk. I love Gorran's music.
Romain Axisa plays guitar, bass, and a lute/mandolin/ukulele type string instrument featured in the song "Bongo Bong;" opinions are divided over what Romain played in that performance. I believe he also plays the piano. In addition, Romain sings lead on a few "The Big Push" songs. His solo music is unique, and I don't know what genre it would be categorized as. I really enjoy his music as well. I have Romain and Gorran on a couple of my Spotify playlists.
"The Big Push" is not "Ren's band." They were/are all independent solo artists who struck up a friendship, moved in together, and formed the band. Ren Gill, Gorran Kendall, and Romain Axisa take turns singing lead vocals at times, except for the drummer Glen Chambers. However, each of the band members is currently pursuing a solo career due to Ren's absence. They also recorded some songs yet to be released. No telling what the future holds for them, individually or as a group.
Starscream is my favorite!!! Great reaction btw.
I would love to see your opinion on "Chalk Outlines" with Chinchilla. The live version! Amazing, beautiful song with 2 very talented artists. Deeper meaning than this song as well.
❤The Big Push & this performance.
love you all
You should watch more Big Push. Bongo Bong and Englishman in NY covers, but they shows his vocal and harmonizing abilities of the whole band along with their instrumental capabilities.
He really started as a singer/guitarist busking on the streets, so rap is not his start, but just something else he is good at.
HI REN was not even really a rap song, you can see actual examples of that, as well. (The Hunger, What you want) But I think you would enjoy a lot of the Big Push for the true singing or Chalk Outlines with Chinchilla which is lovely singing. But most of all he lays all his problems bare and that is what makes him have that thing too.
Boy done did Bobby Proud!!!
It's exactly about emotions, relations between musicians and the energy that is given to people around, it's like waves slowing down and taking time expressing fully what they are made of inside and outside, harmony in communication beztween musicians :D
Please continue to explore Ren - Chalk Outlines with Chinchilla, Blind Eyed MC Sessions with Sam Tompkins, and Sweet Little Lady - Live and acoustic with The Big Push. ❤
He was doing Hip Hop by Dead Prez. Cool thing though the first line "good thing about music, when it hits you feel no pain" is a Bob Marley quote! Its from Trenchtown Rock
Chalk Outlines
The title for this video should read The Big Push - I shot the sherrif/Road to Zion/Hip Hop (Medley)
Have you seen "the tale of Jenny and Screech (full)" yet? That might gut you a little.
You should watch the Sam and Ren version of a man’s world it will blow your mind
You should really listen to Chalk Outlines by Ren & Chinchilla! It's another beautifully sung song :)
Was Ren hawking their music at the end…right before the liar liar bit? Fun and creative way to do it and seems like the crowd loved it.
Nice reaction! You NEED to check out Ren X Chinchilla in Chalk Outlines ❤
Fabulous!!!!!
Defo not riffing he was playing Dead Prez Hiphop massive song. You need to check out much more of Ren and The Big Push they’re incredible 🖤
These mashups are fantastic.
Great performance❣
You have to do "Chalk outlines" by Ren & Chinchilla it's beautiful and it's Live make sure you get the live version they did it in a hallway to take advantage of the acoustics. It's so good your gonna love it.
they are great !!!!
Epic performance! Ty for reacting😊❤
❤❤❤
So much fun 🔥💯🔥
Great Reaction love Ren's Busking videos!!
It was perfect
This is so much fun!!
Ren does a lot of rapping, and his lyricism is incredible. But he also has some stellar singing. For something original and stripped down--check out Ren x Chinchilla, Chalk Outlines or for something more R&B, check out his busking with Sam Tompkins--particularly Earned it /Mans World / Falling
Fantastic reaction love and respect from the UK 👍👍👍👍👍🌟😀😀 amazing 👍
