But genuinely, if you're happy with your car I'm glad, because having the choice and the ability to choose what is suitable to our individual situations is the most important thing

    Gas and electricity prices are rising because of carbon taxes. Inflation is happening because government printed more money. Wages increases mean nothing with the accompanying rise in cost of living. My husband use to earn far more as a skilled labourer, the wage he could get was depressed right down to minimum wage because of the influx of 20 to 40 year old men entering the work place since 2010.
    Edwina you come and stay with me and my family and tell me exactly how that wpuld be possible. You live in a dream world. But do you know what, I don't have big dreams, raising my kids to be strong independent happy adults is my dream and I'm living it. So as long as we have what we need, I'm good, and we always manage it. But, what doesn't help is the constant tax increases, because the government want to pay for yet more increases to civil servant wages, or another totally irrelevant train which saves 20 mins on the journey from London to the north. It's insane. And those of us that live in the real world resent paying for the upper echelons of society to go 20 mins faster on a 4 hour journey, whilst you tax us for just enough heat to stay warm.

      Exactly we're surrounded by oil fields, on top of coal, completely surrounded by water which could be harnessed for hydro, we should never have to buy fuel in from elsewhere. Just the shipping costs alone makes it ineffective, not to mention it's worse for the environment to ship the fuel than it is to use our natural resources.

    Top deal on Tesla website £382.02 per month on a business lease £458.42 for personal lease. Unless the prices have pretty much doubled in a year then RJ 1, EC 0. And if they have doubled in a year then that shows that the price is rather volatile which says there are major factors at work which should be clarified.

    I wonder how much money Mrs Currie has invested in "green energy" companies? When asked directly about the 25% green tax every household pays as part of their energy bills she deflected by offering Tesla car rentals to help out. I didn't realise Tesla donated to the tory party.

  • @GardenandGreen
    @GardenandGreen 3 года назад +5

    I did some googling about this, and Edwina Currie seems to be wrong about leasing a Tesla for £250 month, the sofa guest was more accurate saying it is more like £500 month. However, it seems you can lease an electric car for the sort of price Edwina Currie mentions. It is a Nissan Leaf, which is one of the most popular electric cars available at the moment. Lease deals from £208 month (after an initial £2000 payment), plus you save a lot per month not having to buy petrol, and just charging with electricity.

    • @Nebulous0_o
      @Nebulous0_o 3 года назад +3

      Currie doesn’t know the difference (and would probably argue that there is no difference) between a Nissan Leaf and a Tesla…she’d also probably argue that there is no difference between iphone and Android, PC and Mac, Playsation and Nintendo..I can just hear her now, “Computers are computers, lovely young person, they’ve been around since before you were born, I know I had one in my commons office”. She’s outlived her usefulness I’m afraid.

    • @sw1000xg
      @sw1000xg 3 года назад +4

      A leaf does 50 miles possibly 100 which for some is not enough. Then how do you charge? They won't have drive ways.
      Honestly people like you shouldn't be anywhere near politics.

    • @GardenandGreen
      @GardenandGreen 3 года назад

      @@sw1000xg Err perhaps people like me SHOULD get into politics. The current lot have just wrote off £4.3 billion in pandemic business loan fraud, that could have instead paid for 635,000 solar roof installations on the countries poorest homes, which would reduce their yearly electricity bills by at least 25% on an ongoing basis. Better than Sunaks loan he is giving people who then have to pay it back in their energy bill over 4 years. Also, LEAF has a range of 168 miles not 50 or 100, and there is 1000s of charging points al over the UK, some even offer free electricty. They can also be charged via a normal 3 pin home plug.

      @@macraghnaill3553 If you have a terraced house you can plug it in and recharge when you are at a supermarket, or calling into a Starbucks or something, and use a charger. The infrastructure for EV is growing every month. There is apps showing the nearest to where you are in the UK, and theres already thousands of them. Currently in Norway, about 90% of new vehicles in Oslo are electric, and many car parks have chargers for every car park space.
