- In this video, learn how to use built-in DAX Time Intelligence functions to report measures over a continuous rolling period of time. In this video, you will see how to report a value that is being summed for the last 3 months. Meaning when we look at the value for March 2021 we will see the sum of the values from January 2021 through March 2021. This measure works at all levels of time, thus if we are viewing data for December 29, 2021, we would see the sum of the values from September 30 2021 through December 29, 2021.
I will explain every part of the function and how it is working as I build this measure out.

Hi - this is a great lesson again! I had a question though:
if we needed to get a moving average for say, the same 3 months or 3 days, would we need to replace the "CALCULATE" with Average or AverageX?
thanks
You're welcome!
Hallo, thank you for this video. I woud be interested in seeing a video on rolling YTDs-1 and MTD-1 for a open month. For example, when I update my sales report on weekly bases. I can see the YTD data for the period 1.1.24-15.5.2024 by using TotalYTD DAX function, but for the previous month, it shows me only the total May 2023. How to do it, so that I would see comparable rolling period. Thank you. :-)
How do we deal with a scenario where the data starts other than the beginning of the month (i.e. in the middle of the month or somewhere else within that month)
Why is date table needed for rolling averages?
Hi, thanks for the video. Can I please ask . how we can allow users to choose how many months or weeks to roll back please?
Rather than that I have to manually change the roll back period, can that roll back period (in your example" is 3 months .. if someone want to roll back 2 months only .. is there a way they can choose on the dashboard, then the data will update from 3 months rolling to 2 months rolling? Thanks
my confusion is without doing variables, directly adding dateadd, also gives the same though
Can you tell me how to calculate YTD from April to March excluding January Month Sales figure ??
I need to do this rolling months using bar and a line graph but my dates are not per day its only the month. What I need to show are the Inflow, Outflow of the countries in my list. So once I filter a certain country, the 12 months roll data of that country will show in a bar and line graph. What would be the best measure for that?
Could I use this to do a unique customer count in the last 24 months
Considering I have monthly customers via a subscription and get new people every month
