It feels almost like something that would come from a impressionistic film style director. I mean, there's some themes from both AC5 and ACZ that shares some similarities with some animes and films. It's all about raw cinematic + soundtrack power! I see this flowing with even more potential. What Nassault did is to realize that potential and is telling us about it in this video. Is it bad to dream?
The voice coms where you hear the guy screaming "Sam!" Is from and American flight of F-16s during the 1991 gulf war. I don't remember the name of the video but if you type in "f-16s dodging Sam's" you'll find the video on RUclips
The transmission was from an F-4 Phantom shot down over Vietnam by a SAM. WSO survived but the pilot was KIA. ruclips.net/video/G0kAJunnnGQ/видео.html at 1:47
Just played this mission 30m ago... man. There's just so much love in all you do. You really captured the mood. Sure this is flashy and obviously stylized, but, it's not 'more than the original'... you know? Like this is basically, what it was. This right here, was what I felt when I did the mission. Like, you just washed away the game filter, and what came through the mesh was just, the love.
Shit, it feels like I'm there in that mission again, feeling the intensity of the AA fire constantly going. Doing everything as Galm 1 to keep alive. You sir brought one of the most memorable missions of destruction from AC:Z and made it alive and real. I got freaking goose bumps. Also at the end, with Excalibur, that made me shudder.
Nassault, I'm so glad you're remaking these in DCS. AC Zero was the first game I ever played through, multiple times, and it my inspiration for wanting to become a naval pilot. Now, in my first year of college for my engineering degree, I'm pursing that. Many childhood tears are shed over my keyboard whilst watching this.
This is my favourite DCS/Ace Combat video by you. Music, sound editing, shots and effects are all on point. Highlight would be the pacing. In some of your other videos I might feel that a cinematic shot had lingered a bit long, or that there wasn't the right balance between establishing shots and action. This video strikes the balance perfectly.
Ok, it was this video and the Ace Combat 5 Trailer remade in KSP that got me into the series. Now, after recently getting my hands on a PS2 and completely playing through AC4, and now eagerly awaiting AC7 for the PS4, I thank you Nassault for getting me into the series.
I think i may prefer this one to Bastion, The presentation and effects just get across the cold-war style so much better, even if its a bit of a visual mess. Both are incredible works of art though.
Aaah, Jet combat... My introductions and interpretations of it are often very under-appreciatory of what is perhaps one of the most dangerous and yet beautiful dances of combat in the world... I wish I could truly recognize these affairs for what they are... But I'm always left empty instead.... I'm so sorry. I really enjoyed the song though. It has that building tension and strong conflict feel that no doubt stands strong in any Night combat mission. -_I'll Be Watching, Friend._
3 years later..... watching this.... this mission had the BEST atmosphere, looking back on it i am almost ashamed to say i hated this mission as a kid, it slowed down the bombastic pace of dogfighting to the crawl of ground pounding but this video makes me want to relive the whole game.
So you now get what the devs have done in that mission, right? It wasn't about "bruh shooting 5330530 aircrafts Mayhem theme starts playing", but pure art and ambience. I feel happy that you get it now.
@@lukasi.v4269 oh ive replayed Zero a thousand times. I learned the lesson youre speaking of like 10 years ago. I was just putting it in words on a youtube video to be nostalgic. The feeling I expressed 3 months ago was nothing new lol it was just a "yeah it was something I had to understand when I was older" thing. Now another mission Merlon, over the plains when youre attacked for the first time by excalibur THAT was the first time in my video game career I felt fear. Because big scary laser that can one shot you and you couldnt fight it. All you could do was run. To 10 year old me it was TERRIFFYING.
You really understand it. Like, you genuinely feel it. It's really something else to see the day dreams I'd have throughout the years manifest like this. So you know.
"Half of the suadron just vanished! What the hell, AWACS?" Still an amazing work from you dude, I think I prefer Glacial Skies just because of the mission itself, but this was still a damn great one. Thank you and keep that up, Nick, this is serious stuff! By the way, suggestion for the next one, either the final AC0 mission, the Pixy-Cipher duel, or an AC5 mission with the Wardog/Razgriz squadron, like the battleships uprising one, near the end, where the Kestrel goes down (RIP).
my favorite one so far. Ace Combat Zero is my favorite game ever and you really know how to give that ace combat feel to your videos. The A-10 deploying 1000s of flares and gunfire and missiles coming from all sides is really depicted how that mission felt. I also like how you used lines from mission 14 and 17 also. I played way too much ACZ. Keep on doing more of these!
GREAT WORK, that´s incredible and nostalgic. The pieces of text are so powerful by their own. It´s special that only the voices can send a THE MESSAGE about war that ace combat wanted to give. And the video, makes it more powerful. Congrats
I love the rising tension of this score. It’s hard to chose this or Avalon as my favorite track. Heres to wishing that the later gets some love as well.
Wow!!! This brought a tear to my eye! I miss those days of playing this not knowing what will happen next. If the ever remaster this then hopefully it’ll be like this.
Glatistant is honestly one of my favorite tracks from zero. the video also conveys exactly how much of a mess I always imagined the attack was supposed to be. Thank you for your impeccable taste. (Also nice use of the gulf war track)
Sounds like you felt the same about this melody the same way I felt when I discovered the unreleased song from AC5 where the entire case is singing. I'm pretty sure it's just the japanese vocal cast, but hearing that a decade after playing AC5 did and still does bring a tear to my eyes. Some say you can hear Chopper singing in the background...
Simply great, I have always liked that soundtrack, you could use in a next video "Vitoze Aerial Defense" or "Anea Landing" (Ace Combat 6 soundtracks) are also progressive like Glatisant...
I had a PSP version of ace combat and I remember fighting this gigantic stealth aircraft. So tense for me when I was younger, but it was such a great feeling fighting something that massive and just covered with turrets as a challenge.
That was awesome! That shot of Stroke 3 bailing out as his A-10 smashes into the ground below was crazy. I really hope you continue this series of videos. May we could see a fight between the aces at the round table? or the assault on Exalibur?
Thanks! He got quite lucky the A-10 rolled back over when she did. While I was making this, I also watched this 20 min film called Ejection Decision and thought it was pretty cool/helpful, thought you might think so to /watch?v=Aa1Ba_NEobs

Fundamentally? Really skillfull editing I think.
This is the true meaning of what perfection is.
I like how you blur out Cipher and Pixy like how they were there but history doesn't want to show it.

Another part of the audio was from another video where a phantom 2 got taken out by a sam in Vietnam. Pretty interesting but sad video.

The opening of the video with the music and VHS effects gives off an 80s Cold War feel. I love it.
