Goddam but I Love Ida Lupino... She is truly one of the great Film Noir Icons. So happy that her oeuvre as an Actress and Director are being Recognized and Exalted by todays Cineastes.
I've always liked Ida Lupino ... She the real deal... And this sounds very good... She giving it her all. I like her even more. First time I'm hearing her sing .
I grew up watching wonderful movies like this as a kid, but know it people, most of the actors singing in these movies weren't really singing. Their voices were dubbed. This is no exception. Ida Lupino was not singing this song. It was dubbed. The true singer was Peg La Centra.
These guys sure can play those instruments,Just love it.Can anyone tell me the name of the band.As for Ida Lupino shes the best. Thanks for uploading Primocarnera1971
No, it’s dubbed, she’s acting like she’s singing (between kinda awkward cigarette drags & a swig). Did she smoke, cause it seems not? Truly accomplished, extraordinary polymath, multi-talented working (quite beautiful) woman in a contrived world of mostly ditzy glamor presided over by mostly male studio super-egos (all the power, glory & money). Gave a lot more than she got. I love Ida.
Doug Noakes, Thank God for that. Why anyone even remembers BH I'll never understand. I did buy a couple of her records because I had been led to believe that she was something special, but I no longer have those records. One listen was more than enough.
Quable, kind of agree but with Lester Young, when they were young, (e.g., Sailboat in the Moonlight) lovely. Me thinks tragedy of a sensitive person & sadness of a brutal
It depends. Billie had 3 sections to her career, The 30s into the early 40s, The 40s into the early 50s, Then the last part, the 1950s. The last part, the 50s, she had lost her voice... only her timing and emotion are intact. I can’t listen to her from that period. Her voice was wrecked from years of abuse. Her middle period is cool... but she had def settled into her STYLE of singing. Her early years ...the late 30s into the 40s... are GOLDEN . Her energy, her clarity, her collaboration with her musicians, her phrasing, her emotion... FANTASTIC.

Whow! The best version I have ever heard of this song! Gratulation Ida! You never die!
I'd heard of Ida Lupino, never seen her in action. She was pretty incredible.
WOW!!AWESOME BAND they sure can make those instruments talk.Love this movie Ida Lupino one of my favorite actresses
Best version of this song.
Beautiful music.
Ida was amazing. She was made to be a screen star and a great director.
Miss Lupino emotes this song better than those with better voices. Such a gift.
Ditto
Except that the voice is indeed a professional, successful singer, Peg LaCentra!
@@solowcello Very interesting! Thank you!
Never heard such nonsence.
You are right.
Le bijou IDÉAL
Fabulous Movie, Fabulous Song❤️
Music by George Gershwin, lyrics Ira Gershwin, performed by Ida Lupino (dubbed by Peg La Centra), played by San on the piano
Ida is mouthing the words but you have to admit she had them nailed!
Great song!
Que mujeres tan bellas sin tantos artificios cirugías y anorexia. Artistas. Muy completas
Es como opera Hollywood.
They play this movie on TCM now and then. Don't miss it! Ida is wonderful and the music is great.
Nobody has pointed out that this is not Ida Lupino singing! Her voice was dubbed for this film by Peg La Centra!

A classic song...I wonder if Ida Lupino is actually singing this one.
After hearing her true voice singing in "Roadhouse," I have to think not.

Those shoulder pads!
Anyone know who was playing the instrument next to the guy who was playing the sax???
Lupino couldn't sing. Yet she could...Check out "Roadhouse". :-)
OK, she aint Billie Holliday.
Doug Noakes,

Quable, kind of agree but with Lester Young, when they were young, (e.g., Sailboat in the Moonlight) lovely. Me thinks tragedy of a sensitive person & sadness of a brutal
world (being a poor, insecure black woman singer on the road) & awful boyfriends & easily exploited, vulnerable. That music is perfectly sublime.
It depends.
