  • On the first Sunday of Advent, the Christian Church declares that the Lord comes. Beware dark corners. You have sat for long enough, moldy, putrid, wallowing in subterranean rivers of unseemliness. But, your days are numbered.
Reformation and Revival is presented by Canon Press.

Is it true that Christ Kirk elders must dicipline adult couples who decide to marry withour parental approval? And that the elders can over rule the parents?

I don't have a problem with Christmas. I have a problem with what Christmas is now. Celebrating the birth of our Lord would clearly fall under Colossians 2:16, but how we do it doesn't. Making up that a saint could see you when your sleeping and know when you've been bad and good and then lying to your kids about it is pretty evil your making a fake deity for them and then waiting to figure out you lied to them. Also what's up with the tree? I thought I didn't care about the tree but the more I think about it I can't think of a single reason putting up a tree has to do with Jesus.

The Bible does not prescribe the celebration of Christmas or mention the observance of Advent.

@@1Whipperin just to be consistent with your logic - are you saying that scripture must “prescribe” something to called Christian in order for us to do it? Or be called a Christian thing?
Can their them be no “Christian” colleges? Christian businesses? Etc..

@@911exterminators3 Yes, using Christian to describe a school or business is not prescribed by the Bible. There is no need for labeling such stuff as Christian. While the term "Christian" is often used to describe organizations or institutions, it's crucial to evaluate their actions and values in alignment with biblical principles. Merely using the label does not automatically make an entity reflective of Christian values. The actions, policies, and treatment of individuals within the organization must align with the teachings of Christ. Jesus never taught His followers to celebrate His birthday.

@@1Whipperin I hear what saying - is it possible for you to see Christmas separate from the regulative principles?
      1. I don’t think it’s seen on the same level
      2. What Ministers who hold to the regulative principles do you see Holding Christmas to the same level as Sunday worship liturgy?
I think it’s a mistake to conflate the two
If you would be addressing a Minister who forced his congregation to celebrate Christmas or rebuked them for not doing so, then I’d agree with your point- but the issue is - their not communicating that -
      Does that make sense?
