Not as bad as release Bell. But yeah Cu Chu even now is pretty ridiculous.
He's not really meta anymore in Season 5. In Season 4 him and Osiris were extremely strong because of their lane pressure, which translated into extreme camp control and snowballing.
I don't know about other divisions, but he rarely gets banned in Plat+, so we can actually play him in ranked now \o/

I live all of those metas, they were the pain, but they were not the reason I took my long year+ hiatus from SMITE. No the thing that got me out, was Fata-hunter meta. Every single hunter got Fatalis, and then depending on match up, either crit or Quin. As Support main, with supports that have almost no escapes, and even if they had, how was I supposed to get away from hard hitting adc who could just attack and follow me while doing it. It was the pain!
I got back in to smite patch after fatalis was reworked so that hunters can't build it, I had no idea of that and when I saw it, the tears of joy I cried were beautiful.
I'm just sad that they took away my Golden Bow, now I can't build my AOE asshole builds anymore.
Man, I remember those. If I saw fatalis and qin at the same build I had to take a deep breath to not quit the game.

Sensei Jusu-Sama Fatalis removed showed who the actual decent players were compared to who the scrubs were just abusing it. It's hilarious to see people play in spring 4 and silver in summer 4 or fall 4.
C_Force I noticed that I actually got better as adc when fatalis was removed. Since I knew that I had to make every shot count I unconsciously started playing with more precision and control.

XD it's so ironic 😂 people start complaining about the defense, they nerf it and damage become popular. Then damage gets annoying and they nerf it and again back to defense 😂
Javier Navarro It's because HiRez doesn't do small changes. They do these massive changes to items and abilities so that they become completely op or completely good. They need to work more on smaller changes.
Seriously, I don't want another dirty bubble meta but could def not be utter shit or pure immortality.

how the FUCK is the late season 3 invasion meta not here? Where support, jungle, solo, and sometimes even mid would all run into the enemies jungle and just stare at the enemies for 2 minutes until someone decided to either leave or get a buff. This almost majority of the time decided the victor of the game.
Buff invade meta from late S3 and the early pressure meta from the beginning of S4.
You'd have 4-man squads lv1 ganking the mid lane with Curse or Horrific Emblem, depending on the season, and it was _horrid._
At least deathbringer didn't last long enough to be the evil crit meta of S5...
Awilix during redpot meta before featherstep was nerfed good times, also at least we got the funniest clip in SPL history with golden bow meta when oceans killed cyclonespin from like 70% at lvl 3 once that happened G-bow quickly got nerfed

baka solo came back in season 3 I believe when they buffed his eat minion and everybody thought he was broken as shit (DMbrandon even going to say that it's disgusting that hirez allows this god to exist because of how good he is) and then 2 weeks later he was back to b-tier without any nerfs.

Yeah Fatalis would probably be #6 on the list. It was annoying, but not as bad as these.
Worst meta to me was all of season 4. Where everyone had to start in a lane, no efficient camp starts at all, and the whole game can be decided by somebody dying on the very first wave. At the start of the season it was whether the jungler or mid died off of their first wave, and later on it shifted to if the solo or jungler died on the first wave. Season 4 was also super ass because everyone other than the ADC consistently rotated to solo to gank and plunder the speed and blue buffs.
Late season 3 invade meta was up there too. Basically I hate any meta that alters solo from being a resource management, pressure jockeying sort of role that occasionally gets disrupted by ganks.
yo golden bow meta was lit. I remember jumping into ranked having tripple hunter double tank comps and jut face punched anyone thanks to hunting dagger. There were hunters everywhere duo lane, mid laners, solo laners, hell I saw jungle hou yi way to many times.

The power potion meta was the reason I quit conquest for good. Just remembering gave me chills.
I know back in the PS4 beta we got our own few months of like the Tank/Dirty Bubble meta mixing into what me and my buddies just call the 5 tank meta.
It was a miserable time of my life😂
About 2 years ago was golden bow crit meta playd Apollo back then and loved it i could kill teams with just my auto attack
I also hated it when Jing Wei was the best hunter in the game. She was unstoppable with that insane passive.

What about the fatalis meta? Or the tank/thorns meta that happened more recently in season 4
I still think they could've actually balanced golden bow instead of removing it. Just pike remove the passive from the tier 2 and maybe increase the price

I assume they just wanted to be done with it. It was really volatile and hard to balance. For years it was built on pretty much 1 god and they buff it slightly and it breaks the game. Probably thought they were better off just ditching it.
The AoE was only ever helpful on Mercury; they didn't want to go through the trouble of class-gating an item just so one god could use it, so they removed it entirely.
Well they removed it right before izanami was released
With her having already aoe autos and adding more aoe to her autos would have been insane and not just that but other melee gods could have made use of it too like erlang making it hard to balance
But basically it would make it very hard to balance because it’s either too good on some gods or not worth picking up but with the buffs it was always worth

Season 5 meta with trans death bringer and rage on any physical God that like 3 shots in autos

i played in the tanky warrior meta and that shit was the worst. I played chang'e solo and i cannot tell you how many tyrs i would play again and it was so easy for either one of us to get a huge lead on the other. There were games where the enemy solo was 3 or 4 levels and 2 items ahead of everyone else by the 10 minute mark or where it was me who was that far ahead. it was low-key kind of fun but also really surrender heavy
I started right before the GoldenBow Remove patch.
Fat Assassin/mages are still a huge problem than needs to be dealt with, but of course people who worship those playstyles will defend them since they don't want to have their easy mode taken away...
I like how season 3 and season 5 are like the golden ages for metas. All the rest just kinda come and go

Golden bow and hastened fatalis was a bit of a season 3 problem when mercury mains used to just rape, well atleast it happened cery quickly and then died, was a horrible few weeks haha
What about the SPL specific triple guardian meta thanks to Elevate?

I feel season 5 is the start of the penetration meta

You must be playing casuals cause i dont see anubis to much in ranked. Hes so easy to deal with if you supp can dive the back line with jungle and you all have anti heals

I came at the beginning of season 4, but tank meta and dirty bubble meta sound awesome.
You cant forget flickering ritual and everybody tp'ing to a ward and backdooring as a team while the enemy team was no where close to their titan

I don't know if this counts as dirty bubble or not. But the Bulwark of Hope/Hide of the Urchin with fucking season 2's mail of renewal. Which was breastplate with 350 health, 45 protections, 20 cooldown and 15% healing of mana and health over 5 seconds after assist or kill of enemy or objectives including gold or fire

The season 4 meta where solo lane was jungle and solo so it was basically the new duo lane and the mid and support were both in mid and the hunter got solo farm all game and just got insanely fed it just wasn’t a fun meta
Tbh worst ever was warrior jungle meta. Ruined playin conquest for me. And I loved golden bow cuz I used to Mercury main
Idk what it was called but the meta were timid became the new duo lane since the support would just be in mid the entire game

My least favorite metas were warrior jungles and triple tanks and two hunters.
Oh yeah and bracer meta.
Shittiest meta was when the jungler would just sit on solo or mid lane for a large portion of the game and just hold hands with his partner. No kills could be gotten unless there was a really unfair matchup or the enemy severely misplayed. Also roaming support meta, where the support would choose to ditch his adc whenever he pleased and let him get farmed by the enemy duo, as the other support wasn't a complete idiot. I'm rotating, my support would say, as he was leeching xp off of mid lane, staring at the enemy.
I miss the op poseidon meta in late season 3 :(

I miss the season 2 Gold generator Talaria meta. Playing Bellona with them just rotating through lanes smacking people with scourge for like 15-20?g was the >literal< best.
How about freya and how she blows anyone away with her 1 and her 2 toggled on to ranged after her most recent rework! Its absolutely absurd
Season 4 tank meta was so annoying. Cu Chullain would never die and if he got close he’d just use bracer to get all his health back

this was not at all what i thought of when i think of meta's but I guess my most hated meta was the whole trans meta where hunters would build trans just because devo gloves got nerfed. I may have taken part of that meta but I wasn't really conferrable getting another life steal item besides devos back then.
I miss when Sun Wukong had the knockup on his 2 and you could build Sovereignty and Breastplate of Valor and never die.

I got into smite early S2 and didn’t really notice the metas mainly because I was retarded but if I think back now I can remember an Artemis that kept getting triple kills because she didn’t die.. damn I miss those times for some reason. Probably because of the joust map.

Damage meta sucks, everybody one or two shots everybody and teamfights last 10 seconds. Warriors and guard arent even needed anymore.

Hunters are fucking cancer they take nearly 0% skill to play just get crit/lifesteal (bloodforge) and you can go for that penta lol
Though we do have tools to heavily cut into their damage right now. Current Spectral Armor does a good job of letting you live twice as long against crits.
I'm not sure if this is true, but it stands to reason that Spectral would be processed in damage calculations after Hide of the Nemean Lion since Hide works off of pre-mitigation values. So we have build options at this point to fight with.
I personally hated to mage ADC meta where only sol and chornos were played duo
Worst meta for me was the S3 world meta. Randoms didn’t know how the fuck to invade properly. I had jugglers full traveler shoes but instead of invading they went to buffs. It made conquest unplayable simply because nobody knew how to do it properly
Has everybody forgotten the, I don't know if it was season 3 or 4,the shifter shields and pure damage adc meta? I remember cern, shifter shield, runeforged, frostbound, sais, and I don't know what more, I've been reported for that kind of builds, you didn't have adc items and you did 300 per auto, it was awful. Also, the adc that got ahead could snowball and fuck the other adc, whoever bought shifters first won the lane, huge damage and huge protections. It only lasted for like 1 or 2 more updates but it was cancer

Jacob Womack It's not. The bellows release was way worse. Not to mention dirty bubble. Season 4 was not that bad. It's really just thorns. If thorns weren't a thing then season 4 wouldn't have been nearly as that heavy

Jacob Womack I don't see how being a mage in 4 was bad. At all. If you could elaborate I might under. I don't play all the much mid so you probably know better than me.
So like in the season 4 tank meta, gaurdians and warriors had to only pick up one or two defence items then build damage. If you can any sort of sustain or a cc kit, you were hardly ever killed. Obsidian didn’t do jack shit lol. If you wanted to deal any damage you had to build mostly pen or be 4+ levels ahead. If you’re an assassin or hunter, they’d just build nemian and win.
season 4 had the power potion plus soul stone meta where mages like raijin or scylla literally one shot waves at level 1-2.
I think the worst meta is the Merlin Meta

Rituals without a doubt my least favorite meta. I didn’t like Golden Bow meta as a hunter player. It felt stupid lol. So I just played Skadi with trans until it was taken out. Tank metas were honestly after that for me.
Invade meta during season 3 was the worst for me, hated it more than any of the metas you listed. Games were over in the first couple minutes
Ritual meta was the worst meta so far. You had lategame tanks sell their items to buy rituals just because they were better than the items.
Dirty bubble sucked but not in joust. In joust it made punishing tower sitting a viable option. Y'know, an option that wouldn't risk a full team whipe for a possibility of MAYBE getting SOME damage on the enemy tower. *cough* bdk *cough*
