    On my jeep, that has the ARB Twin, 5psi rock crawling. 10psi for dirt/rocky roads. But I also run KMC beadlocks. I also run that deflator. I recommend the ARB tire repair kit. Comes with everything to fix a tire.
    I just put the ARB Twin in the bed sidewall of my 2020 F350. Using an upfitter switch in the cab. Using it primarily for the Airlift bags but also tires for the fifth wheel and truck. The fifth wheel hitch is a Reese Goosebox which has an airbag so it is used for that also. OBA is truly invaluable.

    I had the same issue. I used an T valve at the compressor with a hose run to the rear bump and the same quick release head drilling into the bumper (flush). This also gives you access to air without having to life the hood all the time. Add a power switch back there or on the dash and you are laughing. Great videos Cody the video quality is amazing.

    You could use that "T" fitting and run a air line to the back of the truck like near the license plate and have 2nd hook up option. Then the short "metric" 😉 hose won't be an issue. Also on a 3/4 ton or heavier truck i don't go lower then 25psi for 2 reasons. 1. Those front ends are heavy especially if its a diesel, don't want to roll the bead off. And 2. I don't want to overly stress the side walls by flexing "to much" to cause a potential blow out some time down the line.

    • @ret7army
      @ret7army 3 года назад

      Good points I wore out the front end of my gmc 1 ton crew long bed (what a boat) about every 3 years probably sooner but I'm pretty much s@@@ on doing proper maintenance.

    • @mpikas
      @mpikas 3 года назад +2

      This is just to get you out of a mess, you don't ever want to drive around at highway speed aired down. Some of those big load range E tires need to be in the 60psi range on the road at speed, and will overheat and explode or shred even at 30-40psi. With onboard air you have no excuse.
      The magic number for traction seems to be around 15psi with decent width tires on stock width rims (I have 35x12.5 on factory hummer rims on my dodge and that works fine even with the 1100lbs of cummins in the nose). If you have wider rims you'll have to keep the pressure up a little higher to keep from popping a bead.

    I have a small portable 12 volt air pump so don't need this set up and carry a small tire plug kit as well as valves/wrench and caps, plus a full size spare ... but it was worth the watch when Cody paused, then admired his "Duel Alternators" ... like many, it's become my "smile" for the day, or week .... and I appreciate that he gets that we enjoy the dig also ! .... I just rigged/hard wired the Jeep and lawn tractor with the NOCO lithium power pack and Genius charger with "quick connects" ... tired of those expensive lead cell jumper packs that only last a year or two .... I like the "plug and play" aspect of hard wired system (but have noticed the quick connect plug pins are a bit fragile and need to be carefully lined up first or they'll deflect inside) .... Hey, Cody, maybe you could do a video on battery "do's and don't's" and types, and proper maintenance, especially for winter ? .... and maybe a short segment on the importance of negative grounds .... with all the electronics, sensors and computers on modern vehicles they become even more important to keep your charging system and batteries functioning at peak performance .... as a reference Bosch has some excellent publications on charging, battery and ground systems and what happens when they're not working 100% ... engine and body grounds as well (important on older vehicles and/or those in the rust belt)

    I'd highly recommend you run the air line from the compressor to an air manifold or use a stainless steel braided line to remote mount the chuck. The compressor and the air coming out of compressor can and will get very very hot. That ARB hose is great but I've had two of them fail when connected directly to the compressor. The issue is amplified when airing up to higher pressures above 60 psi like you have on a truck and trailer. I've had better luck with remote mounting the chuck. I also use flexzilla now instead of the ARB hose.

    I purchased a used ARB single stage compressor and installed it in my 2016 Jeep before we went to Moab for the 2019 East Jeep Safari. It's a game change. Easy in inflate when you get back to paved roads. We were in Maine recently for a Jeep Jamboree and one of the other Jeeps didn't have a compressor, so we double teamed him- I aired up his rear tires while another Jeep aired up his fronts. The standard hose is perfect for a 4 door Jeep Wrangler, but I'm sure a little short for the Professional Home Owners F350 with dual alternators/batteries. One tradeoff for the semi-professional home owner in a Jeep Wrangler with one alternator/battery, I have to keep my Jeep running while using the compressor. Those valve stem cores are a pain, I've had to buy a second pack of them at the car parts store because they don't always re-seat. Enjoy your winter. Safe Travels and God Bless!

I added something in addition that you might like, I bought a pressure regulator from my local hardware store and added quick connects on both ends so I can remove it easily. I set it to my nominal tire pressure, and it lets me connect my tire and walk away. If you have 37” tires, this saves you about 10 minutes. Enjoy!

If you get into soupy conditions, they tend to loose their ability to sling the mud out and keep digging. To those who are looking for a new or late model truck, avoid Ram trucks that have factory air ride suspension if you live where things freeze! I have a friend who ended up scrapping a 2017 Dodge Ram 2500 diesel crew cab long box because the air ride needed nearly $20,000 in repairs to make safety this year. Since purchasing that unit it has cost him more to meet safety on suspension alone than the purchase cost! There may be a fix, which is to purge the system monthly and recharge the required nitrogen gas! A 3 hr dealer job, but that becomes expensive too @$175/hr labour!

    I am surprised you didn’t install a small tank with a controller. If you do this you can adjust your rear bag pressure on the go. I have been running the viair constant air system with a 2 gallon tank. I installed the tank and tucked it behind my running board. This allows me to run impact tools if needed. Great video.

    Speaking of knocking a tire off the bead. The old wheels on 1969 Chevy 4x4 3/4 ton were 16.5 and they didn't have a ridge to keep the tire bead seated. We had to air down to no more than 15 psi for organized 4 wheel drive runs. Well I slid into a rut and knocked the tire right off the bead. Not fun at the edge of the cliff. Those ARB compressors are nice. But all I could afford is a harbor freight kit. So far it works fine. I have used it on the trail, deer hunting and on my little ranch. Keep up the good work. And yes resist the fact B.S. No shots for me.

    I put my air bag Schrader valves in the same spot on my old F250! works awesome when putting my camper on. i can back under the camper and lower it down til the truck starts to squat then i air up the air bags and the camper will lift off of the ground. My old diesel doesn't have DEF so the fuel door is smaller and its a little tighter quarters but its so much better than crawling underneath the truck!

    A lot of folks will place an air connector port on both sides of a vehicle or at each end (front & rear), to avoid short hoses. Also many actually mount their compressors units and a slightly larger reservoir underneath, attached to the frame in a safe location, so as not to impair your ground clearance.

    Hi Cody. I would like to suggest getting a male quick connect fitting and cap the threads. Connect it to the truck quick connect to keep dirt from entering the female side while not in use. Attach a small cord to this fitting so you won’t lose it in the snow or other hiding places in the engine compartment when disconnected. Cheers.

    I would cut the hose ends about 6 inches to use their adapters and use some brass barbed hose splicers to make the hose to any length that you need. I use pex crimp fittings instead of hose clamps as they will not catch on anything. easier than taking the time to order from Australia and saves some $ too. I would also move the connector out from under the hood as others have commented. I used to have the quick connect fitting just under the driver's side door mounted on the frame with a dust cover.

    G'day from that "Island off of New Zealand"🇦🇺 🤣 I have seen on other 4wdrives where they run a braided hose from the air compressor to the back of the 4wd so that you don't need to run a long hose and you have a press fitting near the bumper where you have like a 8 foot hose to inflate the tyres.
