  • I love this music. It was written by a Texan for LBJ and later used as the theme song to the 60's TV special called "Lyndon Johnson's Texas." It was used again as the theme for 4 Country Reporter. All photos are of Texas sites.

    This was written by Texan Cindy Walker for LBJ while he was President. It was then used as the theme for a TV special called "Lyndon Johnson's Texas." Later Bob Phillips used it as his theme for 4 Country Reporter which became 8 Country Reporter when he switched stations and then Texas Country Reporter when he syndicated. It is a wonderful piece. This recording is by Arthur Fiedler and the Boston Pops Orchestra.

    Dad watched this weekly program from the time it was "4 Country Reporter" and had the original host John McKay or McKlain? I remember this theme song well. Dad wasn't happy when it was replaced by a new age theme song. Evidently a lot of people weren't because they brought "The Hill Country" back! Great program promoting Texas!

    • @buddyhodges4621
      @buddyhodges4621  2 года назад

      You are correct! The show was originally hosted by John Mclean, then Jeff Rosser, Joe Miser and finally Bob Philips. Not many remember that. Philips took it to new heights, but I lost interest in the show when they changed the theme. It just sort of soured it for me. Thanks for your comments.

    "The Hill Country Theme" was written by Cindy Walker for Texas Hill Country-born Lyndon B. Johnson, who was President of the United States at the time. The song was adopted as Johnson's official theme song. Arthur Fiedler and the Boston Pops recorded a symphonic version of the song which was included on one of their RCA Victor albums.

    Why'd they have to change the theme music of Texas Country Reporter away from this? It took me ages to stop saying 4 Country Reporter, lol. We've got a Texas Country Reporter Cookbook that I still use.

    • @buddyhodges4621

      I sometimes refer to the show as 4 Country Reporter. But Bob Phippips took over production and syndicates it all over Texas so the "4 Country" just didn't work anymore. Why he changed the theme is beyond me. The current them is terrible in comparison.

      Thank you Deloris. The nature photos are wonderful. I love the Battleship Texas, The Alamo and the San Jacinto Monument too. Of course the Stockyards and Will Rogers Colosseum are favorites too. The Alamo recreation shown in the slide show was from the move The Alamo by John Wayne. I used it so that people could see what the mission looked like when the battle as actually fought.
