Hill Country Theme by Arthur Fiedler And the Boston Pops
I love this music. It was written by a Texan for LBJ and later used as the theme song to the 60's TV special called "Lyndon Johnson's Texas." It was used again as the theme for 4 Country Reporter. All photos are of Texas sites.

😭❤🎉
This and Cotton Eyed Joe are the most Texas songs ever for me.
Love both of those tunes!
Texas state FFA Convention summer 1977 at Tarrant County Convention Center. Each session opened with this. Anyone remember?
I think I remember that. I was working a downtown beat at that time!
@@buddyhodges4621 thanks for watching over us. Was heading into my senior year of high school, Sherman Tx.
Thank you Robert. It was my honor to serve. @@robertprice4788
Wish Bob Phillips would bring this back to his show now a days called TCR. Brings back such fond memories of me and my dad watching 4 country reporter together. Brings tears thinking of my dad who passed in 2019 he loved the music and 4 country reporter
I wish Phillips would bring it back as well. The new theme doesn't make the grade. I hope the tears are happy ones. I remember my family watching 4 Country Reporter together and how we all loved the theme as well. Best wishes Paul!
It all changed when he added his wife.
Dad watched this weekly program from the time it was "4 Country Reporter" and had the original host John McKay or McKlain? I remember this theme song well. Dad wasn't happy when it was replaced by a new age theme song. Evidently a lot of people weren't because they brought "The Hill Country" back! Great program promoting Texas!
You are correct! The show was originally hosted by John Mclean, then Jeff Rosser, Joe Miser and finally Bob Philips. Not many remember that. Philips took it to new heights, but I lost interest in the show when they changed the theme. It just sort of soured it for me. Thanks for your comments.
This should be The State Hyme (song) Of Texas, hands down.
I agree.
Long Live TEXAS!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Happy 50th anniversarry to the Texas Country Reporter!
Somehow you can feel Texas when you are born here…
That is a fact!
You can feel Texas even if you weren’t. That’s a fact.
I didn't always watch Texas Country Reporter, but I never missed the theme every Saturday morning.
Me too!
Arthur Fiedler was the best. He could bring music to life.
Absolutely correct!
I always enjoyed hearing this song when i was young, when Texas Country Reporter would come on. It gave me a happy and yet nostalgic feeling even though I was a kid. Brings tears to my ears now. Thank you!
I have always loved it too. Glad it brings back memories for you!
Why'd they have to change the theme music of Texas Country Reporter away from this? It took me ages to stop saying 4 Country Reporter, lol. We've got a Texas Country Reporter Cookbook that I still use.
I sometimes refer to the show as 4 Country Reporter. But Bob Phippips took over production and syndicates it all over Texas so the "4 Country" just didn't work anymore. Why he changed the theme is beyond me. The current them is terrible in comparison.
He was forced to stop using it. We need to get a petition going to bring it back.
I miss home makes me cry
I know exactly what you mean.
Time to come home

Lyndon Johnson was evil, in my opinion........
I was no fan of LBJ either. But I do love this piece of music.
I was born in Brady Texas in 1965 and grew up in Austin, heard countless stories about him (pro and con) growing up,and I and my family worked for Lady Bird after he died as barbecue caterers in the 80s (she was nice). For what it's worth,I read or heard somewhere that Billy Graham, when Lyndon was in the White House, prayed the sinner's prayer with him and got him saved.I've had several dreams over the years of him being on the other side/heaven.If that is true, then no one is out of reach of the saving hand of our Lord..................
"The Hill Country Theme" was written by Cindy Walker for Texas Hill Country-born Lyndon B. Johnson, who was President of the United States at the time. The song was adopted as Johnson's official theme song. Arthur Fiedler and the Boston Pops recorded a symphonic version of the song which was included on one of their RCA Victor albums.
Oh the memories of childhood and hearing this over and over!! Big tears of joy rolling down this Texan's face!! Thanks Buddy Hodges!!
I love it to! Glad it made you happy to hear it!
I'm 56 years old. Living in Michigan since 1999. Brother tears flow while listening to music from my Texas roots. My beautiful Texas.
I’m 48, and grew up with Bob back in the 70’s and 80’s. My parents loved this show, glad i sub’d and like’d it! My brothers are Native Texan and I are descendant “eligible” for the Sons of the Republic of Texas. My mom was Daughters of the Republic of Texas. 🥲😇
@@ayiii1776 Texas wants you back!
@@MisterMikeTexas I moved back to my beloved Texas just over a year ago. Ty my brother. It's the best feeling in the world to know you are where you belong.
Just found this as a single on ITunes. I am one happy camper right now!
Fantastic!
Probably my favorite piece of music! Thank you for putting it to photos of my beloved State! I feel cheated every time I watch TCR and don't hear this majestic piece of music.
Glad you enjoyed it. It is my beloved state too!
@@buddyhodges4621 I'm from Dallas and remember watching 8 Country Reporter as a kid and hearing this intro also sucked me in. Never Realized it was previously 4 Country Reporter. As a kid I always teared up watching the intro when this song played. LOL Even now, listening to it takes me back to those days. I still watch TRC today, but miss this as the opening song. Thanks for sharing this, very nice collage of our Texas!
@@bigred3282 TRC just isn't the same without this music! Very happy that it stirred some memories for you. I still love this piece of music.
Can remember coming home from Ft.Dix,then several years later Germany, and watching Texas Country Reporter, &bawling like a damn baby, knowing I was back home to stay.
+bigroy38 It does say home doesn't it?
+Buddy Hodges you bet.
I lived in Texas for only a few years, still dream of returning and whenever I hear the TCR theme I mist up.
Yf Yf I’ll never understand why they stopped using it. The ‘Eye Of Texas’ used Shake Russell’s ‘Travlin Texas’ both great and scream Texas pride.
Beautiful images! I haven't heard this wonderful music in so many years. It took me back to when I traveled across the state with my parents as a child. Not sure why this pushed me to tears...I suppose all the wonderful memories. Thank you Buddy for sharing.
+rsanford100 I am thrilled that it touched you. The wonderful music combined with the majestic images of Texas do move one's spirit. Thank you for your post.
Absolutely took the words out my mouth.. God bless you and God bless Texas
I'm from Texas... now living in Michigan since 1999. I listen to this piece of music every night before i go to bed. To this day. It brings tears to my eyes. Texas, my Texas. I do miss you.
This was written by Texan Cindy Walker for LBJ while he was President. It was then used as the theme for a TV special called "Lyndon Johnson's Texas." Later Bob Phillips used it as his theme for 4 Country Reporter which became 8 Country Reporter when he switched stations and then Texas Country Reporter when he syndicated. It is a wonderful piece. This recording is by Arthur Fiedler and the Boston Pops Orchestra.
Buddy, this is possibly the most beautiful scenery in Texas I have ever seen. I love the music. It goes so well with the video. I have been in Texas for 65 years & never have see any part of the state. Thank you so very much for sharing. I hope you don't mind if I share it.
Thank you Deloris. The nature photos are wonderful. I love the Battleship Texas, The Alamo and the San Jacinto Monument too. Of course the Stockyards and Will Rogers Colosseum are favorites too. The Alamo recreation shown in the slide show was from the move The Alamo by John Wayne. I used it so that people could see what the mission looked like when the battle as actually fought.
I love this song. Buddy, it's a pleasure knowing you. This is truly awesome. I had no idea.......
AWESOME AWESOME AWESOME !
