    Climbing Enchanted Rock is amazing. Start very early. Take some winery tours for sure. F’burg is awesome.

      Im definitely adding this one to my list! Im from Schulenburg, and have been wanting to visit Fredericksburg for Enchanted Rock for so long now. I love Alstadt beer, didn't know their brewery was in FB!

    There are lots of peach orchards in the area too, but you have to time it right to visit them during harvest season.

      Thanks for the tip! Peach orchards sound delightful. I'll definitely consider including a visit in a follow-up video. 🍑🌳😊

      @@destinationdos I didn't visit any, but there were over a dozen road side stands between Austin and Fredericksburg that sold incredible peaches.
      There was one that sold peach wine, I didn't care for it.

      My wife and I went there recently. We were not impressed. The surrounding parks were nice with good hiking but downtown is way too much of a tourist trap. Everything is too expensive. $8.00 for a scoop of ice cream. We went to Walmart and got a half gallon for the same price.

    Too much like Austin and too close to Austin for a proud Texan like me to visit.

      Sorry to hear you feel that way! Fredericksburg does have its own unique charm and character, distinct from Austin. But we totally understand that everyone has different preferences. Thanks for sharing your thoughts! 🤠🌟

      I've lived in Houston for over 30 years and Austin for 3. Fredericksburg did not remind me of Austin at all.

    If you are Looking for a Mini-Austin, Liberal Paradise, this is it!

    • @jamesphillips5868
      @jamesphillips5868 4 месяца назад +3

      This is definitely not a mini Austin and far from Liberal belief system. The Austin feel is from all the Austin people visiting on the weekends, and probably the cost of living. The townies are very Conservative in an old fashioned sense.

    Museum’s are great and a must see. Most wines we have tasted are ok. Lot of the wines are priced too high for the quality. Great place to enjoy a bottle of vino and a picnic. Yes, I know wines and I beleive a lot of people will like these wines.

    Beautiful hill country area that most everyone can visit. But, if you want to live there you will need lots of money as most of those who do live there have. It's become loaded with escaping Californians who came with pockets of cash from home sales in that crazy state . Making an already expensive area even more expensive. I'm reminded of the Mel Brooks movie line "it's good to be da king"....lol

    • @destinationdos
      @destinationdos  Год назад +1

      Hi there! 😊 It sounds like you have an intimate understanding of the evolving dynamics of Fredericksburg. While it's true that some areas have seen a rise in prices, the charm and allure of this Texan town still make it a must-visit location. The hill country beauty 🌄, unique German heritage, and famous wineries 🍷 are just a few of the many reasons visitors continue to be drawn here. We appreciate your insight and the humor from the Mel Brooks reference! 😄 If you have any local tips or hidden gems that you think others may enjoy, feel free to share. Thank you for watching and sharing your thoughts. 👍

      Agreed. I think Texans need to be hush hush on local "hidden gems". The more people talk, the more inhabitated and forever changed they become.
