That was 1000X more interesting than "we built a new bike with the best parts" build or a "we washed a bike now its good as new hurr durr" build.
Nothing better than watching a true artist and craftsman at work.

I restored like 5 older but high quality bikes with modern parts this year and sold them to new owners. So awesome to see those bikes with new parts. I didn’t go to your extent with new paint and everything but the bikes still looked ready to rip again 10 years later! Awesome to see someone doing the same.

Ah dude! Thing I like most about this vid is how you remove your bearings with the press and a socket. I have a "tool" for doing that - couple of inches of threaded rod, two appropriately sized sockets facing each other (one the size of the bearing, the other larger to "receive" it being pushed out), washers outside those, and a bolt on each end. I then just apply pressure on each bolt and it pushes the bearing through. If you're careful enough you can invert the set up and push new bearings back in nice and square with the same thing.

It's funny seeing the comments about "old" bikes. My newest is a '93 Trek 970 (no suspension) mountain bike, a '91 Bridgestone RB-T road bike, a '73 Raleigh Grand Prix, and a '40s balloon tired unicycle. Lugged steel, baby!! ;)
And, aside from the points I saw in the comments, know that an adjustable wrench should only be used as a hammer! Never on bolts or nuts. Use open/box wrenches. :)

Very nice seeing someone taking the time to do things proper at home. I’ll be subscribing for sure. I’m assuming you did a lot more than what was shown on the video. Nice work!

Wow, this inspired me to start fixing my own 2013 jekyll that's been hanging in the shed for 4 years now. I've been struggling to find the front wheel hub and I'm glad you posted part list. Where do you order all the bearings for it?

Yes. Keep the Headshok though if you have it. I discovered a rebuild fellow on YT called Headshokpro

Those old American made Cannondale frames are so good there will be people rebuilding them over and over again 100 years from now. ... This is great frame, but the originals made in Pennsylvania are a work of art.

Agreed. But unfortunately, they don't make this shock design anymore, so that's the limiting factor.

Awesome video, would have been sick if you did a voice over talking about all the spec and an overview what you were planning to do at the beginning.

I'd like to know the total cost of all the upgraded parts, powdercoating, etc. I have a 2007 Cannondale Rush that I would consider rebuilding like this if it's cost effective. Otherwise, new Santa Cruz and eliminate the time and hassle.

your old bike's fork is my dream fork, wish I had one, still using my broken RST Storm up until now. Don't have the money to upgrade mine so It'll do for a while just not on the trails. XD

Great bike to begin with. Wish all old bikes were like that, I'm sad to see people of bike love around the world can't afford what was solid 10 years ago.

That was super cool, props on your style and dedication.
I would have replaced the handlebar though, it is not worth having a failure there for the minimal cost of a decent new bar.

Chapeau, that's a very well done job. Nice colour choice, personally for a more modern look like I would have painted the rear triangle in black or dark colour. Anyway great video!
