That's the plan. Hope the owner likes it when it's all buttoned up. He's been watching the progress and he's been pretty happy with it so far. I'm getting close to wrapping it up.
Ready to hit the dunes!!!
Lol.. not so sure about that bit getting closer.
@Only Memories In The End! It doesn't.... yet.
Z link is less stressful on the steering box
But prone to bending when stressed.
When you bought this lift kit, did you get the greasable shackles? Or is that the Dr.Z shackles you installed? Im looking to do a similar build.
Im basically wondering if i need to order the greasable shackles when i order the lift.
I didn't buy a lift kit... I deleted the cobbled together mess that was lifting it before. I ordered OME lift springs, found shocks that would work, a drop pitman arm, and Dr.Z shackles. I used energy suspension poly bushings in everything.
where did you get the new springs
Links to everything are in the video description
i have 1.5" ome full kit
stock shackles
does almost 80 mph with no fear
OME stuff is solid for sure. This one rides great now.... just gotta get the TDI swap buttoned up.
Just picked up an 88 Samurai and it's lifted, but nothing looks shoddy. Not sure what lift is on it? Are the axles normally above the springs or below from the factory? I know it doesn't drive very well...wanders quite a bit. The truck is in great shape though.
Actually you answered the question and I went and looked at mine. My front springs look just like those that you took off...although, the welding was very well done on this rig. I imagine though, it's why it wanders around on the road.
The wondering all over is likely a caster angle issue. That can be corrected with degree shims. Youd need to take some angle measurements at the Cs and see where its at now.
Springs in the stock location are under the axle. Spring over can work well when done right. If you want a better ride, look into swapping to YJ springs. They are a good bit longer and provide a better ride. They hold up better in a spring over configuration also.
