  • Coghlan's Camping Challenge! In this video, I camp at an actual campground for once, but with only Coghlan's Gear. Some of the gear I liked, some was disappointing. Overall it made for a pretty fun camping experience.
    Thanks for watching & hope you enjoy!

    The funnel is for the gas for lamps and stoves.

    With the survival tin, peel the lid off, empty, bend lid in the middle and wedge sideways back into the tin. Place candle in the tin, and the lid should act as a windbreaker while you light it. Also, candle light will reflect off the lid. Or, get a head torch 😂

    I've never heard of using bubble gum as bait, but in the 60s we used it as a float. Blow a bubble and attach it to the string. We made fishing poles out of tree branches and used string for the line and safety pins for hooks.
    Those trains weren't that bad. The CN line is 1 1/2 blocks from my house and the CP is just across the Thompson River.

      I've only HEARD of it as bait, but I haven't ever caught anything that way, so who knows! That float trick is pretty sweet though, may try it out one day.

      I expect to see more CN trains down here on the Tex-Mex border. There's discussion of an additional 2nd rail bridge over the River.

    The filter is for pouring white gas into your gas stove. I have one for my Coleman Stove. It helps keep debris out of your tank.

    The only beer I have ever thrown away was Sierra Nevada Celebration. There is a can of Taft's Son of a Nutcracker peppermint stout in the fridge that my daughter gave me last Christmas. She gave me two. I drank one. I should probably throw it out.

    A machete IS one of the most useful and universal tools you can take into the wilderness. You can cut, chop, split, scrape, carve, plane, spark, hammer, cook and defend yourself with a machete. The one caveat is you should keep a sharpening stone or a file with your machete.

    • @CampfiresandColdBeers
      @CampfiresandColdBeers  7 месяцев назад +1

      Oh absolutely! I would have definitely opted for the axe or machete had I been out in the woods. Found a machete a bit overkill at a campsite and didn't want to frighten any nearby campers 😅

    Any problems with condensation inside the mylar bag?

    • @CampfiresandColdBeers
      @CampfiresandColdBeers  6 месяцев назад

      Not that I recall, If I remember right I probably slept with an arm out, which allowed for some circulation. But I feel like it could be a concern in some conditions since it's pretty much "air tight" other than the main opening.

    • @devildogsbushcraft7898
      @devildogsbushcraft7898 6 месяцев назад +1

      @CampfiresandColdBeers ok, great. Yes, because you had some circulation minimized the condensation. But it's really good to see your results because the mylar bivvy and space blankets really get a lot of attention. They are also the most packable kind of protection. I guess if they are used properly, they will work well. I would like to see more of the proper application of this material. Thanks for suffering for us. 😆
