I believe there are 12 events worldwide the previous year that you need to win a few events for the team to qualify. Most of the events happen during the NBA season.

3x3 balls are tiny. It’s like a women’s ball. Shots that feel off still go in. Don’t know why they don’t use regulation side balls. It’s not like these guys aren’t elite hoopers.

@@SailorMac808 actually, it makes it harder to miss encouraging more 3 point attempts while making it easier to handle the ball. The weight of the ball is the same but the diameter is smaller so there’s way more margin for error.

@@milostomic8539 There are many 5x5 pros on those teams though. Look at team Poland, for instance (the team that ended up on sixth place, one place ahead of the big and mighty) They have the Italian cup MVP on their roster.

Keep it to NBA flameouts, some high school and college rising stars, and even some 3x3 pros who were scouted. 2nd year of the sport and first time USA men particpated. As years past, so will awareness and the competitive urge of USA. I expected higher and higher placement until Silver and/or Gold in coming years

Because qualifying in 3x3 requires playing in tournaments around the globe all year round, including during the NBA season. Other reasons also, but that's the biggest one.

@@blablablaa14 Doesn't work like that, I'm afraid: "Ranking points collected by the Top 25 players in each country until October 31st 2023 will determine who will qualify directly to the Paris Olympics and to the Olympic Qualifying Tournaments." It's player-based. You won't be seeing any current NBA players on any of the other 3x3 teams either, though, so USA has as good a chance as anyone to win. They're currently the #1 ranked Fiba 3x3 team.
