You’ve ignited a lost tradition that I once had long ago and I’m very much looking forward to getting back into cat fishing this year. I’ve always been a guy who fished at night but my eyesight isn’t as good as it was long ago. That being said, do you know of any rods that have an integrated light emitting diode that lights up the rod tip? I think I need one of these, I love to be able to see the rod tip dance just before running to another county to set the hook. 😊 Maybe you should start your own line of poles? Anyway, thank you for the information you provide and for taking me fishing with you, even though I’m not actually with you. Great job!

Catfish Dave! I have been watching your videos and really getting into catfish fishing. I bought some vintage saltwater penn fishing reels and a couple surf casting rods. I caught my first blue cat yesterday off the tombigbee river and it was awesome. It was only 8lbs but I had a blast.
@@maharper100 yeah here in virginia they love bullheads. We go to the virginia tech duck pond and load the tank with bullheads and blues and flat heads love em.
Hey CD new subscriber here. Glad to see you finally got you a boat. You need to lose those rubber boots you are wearing and do yourself a favor and invest in a nice life jacket (vest ) and wear it when you are out on that water by yourself. Catching those big fish is fun, but I have seen you make some bad decisions trying to grab dip net hold rod and pull that big fish out of the water and be right on the edge of that boat. Heaven forbid you lose your balance and fall into that river. Those boots will drown you while trying to pull yourself back up onto the side of that boat. I wish you nothing but happiness and success with your fishing channel and hope to see you practice safety for your sake and the sake of your viewers.
You wouldnt have to lean over as far towards the edge of the boat if you just lift the other rod out of the rod holder with one hand and go under it.... Then just slip it back in
Kayak catfish catches more numbers. But catfish dave catches bigger fish. I think ole dave here just might catch up with the numbers now that he has a boat tho and learns some spots

I've never caught flatheads on small channel cats, however, big flatheads love live bullheads, biggest one I got on bullhead hit 65 pounds.
@Scott Williams ikr, I still use them, I've never seen Dave or Kayak Catfish use them. I think skip jack is their bait of choice.

40 lbs is a pretty conservative # for a fisherman. I'd say his whiskers went at least 20 lbs.
they pull straight out on the bank and straight down on the boat. 2 different scenarios for the back lol
I use 6-8Inch bull heads for bait for blues flathead heads eat them to
so you like the boat more then the bank

Where exactly did you hook that channel cat for bait? I’ve used smaller ones and they have gotten off every time, I hook them in the tail usually
I always hook them about a half an inch below and and inch behind the top fin/ barb.
I'm pretty sure that's where he hooked his
