She is totally rigth. Dutch people are very cool and friendly. When they see that you dont speak the Dutch language, so they speak to you nicely in English. I was so suprised the first time when I came to Holland.
What a lovely lady. I wish I had met her when she was here in The Netherlands. I would've received her well and showed her around. No wonder that she has met so many kind Dutch people, she definately belongs in 'the camp' of the good people, the people I like to be friends with.
Funny how almost all comment on videos with people explain what they think about the Netherlands are Dutch - although this video doesn't have many comments yet. Oh well, guess I'm not the only Dutch person curious on what other people think about us - not that this 'us' feeling is very strong to me. Thanks for sharing!
i learned dutch english and german in my school if you were at a higher level school you'd probably learned french too.. too bad that most dutch people lose this knowledge just like me. i only can read deutsch and understand a bit. so these days i speak fluent Dutch and English, a beginners level Korean and a low beginner level Deutsch. I'm also going slowly learning italian but that's slowly coming my way. I think Dutch people are really open to learn new languages.
yeah it really is, The netherlands is really small so not many people seem to talk about the culture and the people here. It's also fun to hear what people from other cultures think about us and stuff Anne B
family actually differs from area to area, I live in a very religious area but the nearby city is statistically the worst in the country, I dont really notice it but family isnt the same term anymore... I just stick to whoever is nice to me and those are my family
Good morning everyone Am just wandering if is possible for anyone mostly Dutch family who could accept me to be members of their family I have never experienced love from family before and it does affect me most times I just wanna be alone most times work with senior citizens and children It's difficult but what can I do Thanks if is possible pls contact me Thanks Shalom Godbless
She is sharing superficial characteristics about the Dutch. Once you get to know them you realize they're not as open minded and tolerant as you'd imagined.
Henk-Jan Bakker The majority in NL are indifferent not tolerant. Again a misconception most ppl make. There's a difference between being accepted or tolerated.
True. But isn't the difference merely semantic? To tolerate is to disapprove but do nothing about it. Indifference is to not care what you do and as a result do nothing about it. Being tolerant is not about how you view something. Indifference may be the moral high ground. ;-)
D Gray I'm not sure whether you're Dutch but if you are, perhaps you should take a course about Dutch behavior in general. The Dutch are not direct nor do they speak their minds. Most of them are passive-aggressive and never directly say what they think. The unwritten rules are mastered by native Dutch but for foreigners these codes are not clear (deliberately) Lots of Dutch I've met over the years are plain rude
Marcus NL I'm dutch and I have to agree that there are parts of the Netherlands where rude is a cultural thing. But mostly it is perception. Example: My son was rather dismayed that a fishmonger called me 'ouwe' literally 'old one' . Usually not the most friendly term but in his culture it is normal or even a sign of respect and synonymous with 'father'. Frisians are considered rude and unfriendly. They are not. They are practical and don't mince words. You can experience that as rude. But if a Frisian intends to be rude it will be nothing short of a declaration of war followed by you being tossed over the nearest border. Lets just say that only happens to a select few people that deserve no less. Lets just say I have travelled a bit and only Norway and Sweden have similar ways to treat people. It is not overly friendly and there is no 'simulated friendliness' That can be considered rude but is not meant to be.

+Manuel Aguilar Try Frisian farmers you will be cured of your thoughts of friendly English speaking dutch. Also they will refuse to be called dutch.
its very easy Dutch people dont make themselves difficult
Yea it's like comparing Hillbilly's, against big city lawyers .
Not a real problem i guess, the normally don't meet.
