This is something I’m really striving to get to. I do great at planning the time, but then once the day gets going, I forget to go back and actually check my planner lol

It is definitely a habit to nurture. I used to be good at it, but since now that I have been working from home, it has been a bit challenging to hold myself accountable. I have also been re-reading the 12-wk-year and trying to apply the methods as I go. Tracking how I spend my time is one way to ensure I am working on what is meaningful and not just staying "busy." To ensure I keep up with it, I try to leave the page open on my desk and add a timer to my phone or watch to check back every hour or so. At least until I create the habit of checking in.

I was having this issue too! It finally occurred to me that I need to plan the non-negotiables; kids’ sports, meetings, appointments; then fill in the hourly with how I actually spent my time; specific work project, chores, rest or play time with my kids. Means my planner actually shows how my week went rather than an ideal week that didn’t actually happen.

I love this approach. In one way or another, it is what most of us do. However, when trying to be intentional with our time (at least in my case), I benefit from having a loose plan on how I want to spend my time. Plugging in the non-negotiables but having a "plan" for the rest of the time if that makes sense. I find that if I only add what has already happened. I tend to lose track, and that makes me feel out of control. Rather, I plug in what I will "ideally" like to do and then adjust as the day goes by.

Thanks for posting this. This is how I plan-do people not actually plan in their planners 😂? I guess many people journal or put down memories. I need to do this otherwise I miss appointments and nothing gets done.

😅 Well I use them for all the things, haha. But, I do believe that hourly-planning is truly helpful to assist with time tracking and self-accountability.

Did you speed up the video or do you just talk really fast? I was very interested in your system but struggled to understand you.

No, I just speak fast 😅 Thanks for stopping by. Hourly planning is definitely a must to stay on task.

@@MyNomadPlannerI admit I had to give up on this one. I always play your videos at a much slower speed and as loud as possible, but this time I couldn’t understand no matter what I did. My husband calls you the “Speed Whisperer” whenever he hears me watching. He doesn’t believe me when I tell him that the audio isn’t sped up!

Sorry about that. I am learning as I go but also trying my best to show up as myself. It is a bit hard to "slow" how I talk as it doesn't feel natural. I truly appreciate your feedback. I will definitely continue to give my best not only with the content I share but also the way I share it. Until then, I do hope you stick around. I value your time and support. Thank you for being so kind. Tell your husband I may adopt that nick name, I kind of like it! 😊❤️ #growthmindset #learningjourney #authenticself

@@MyNomadPlanner what’s funny is that although I always watch your videos on 0.75 or even 0.50 speed, for a good hour or so after watching, I have to watch everyone else’s videos on 1.25 or 1.50 speed because they feel too slow! 😂
