I feel like the reason the series was as impactful as it was is because of kaori's death.. The series would have been completely different otherwise, and i totally love how it played out, however the worst part of the entire ending was that kaori did not get to fulfill get last wish properly. She wanted just a little more time to perform with kousei one last time, but she couldn't which was heartbreaking and frustrating. Maybe if she could have had a chance to do so before she left...

It reminds me of the movie "Stranger than Fiction " which (SPOILER) said very clearly that the premise would be FAR better, impactful, and memorable if Will Ferrell's character died, but because the author/scriptwriter couldn't kill him, she didn't, and so the movie has far less impact, as predicted. Death puts the punctuation mark on life, and since all stories eventually end in death, it makes sense that we remember best the fiction stories that end in death.
Well think of it this way, its human nature for us to procrastinate.
Kaori had a dream and an expiration date, yet she still managed to achieve her main dream and more. We have dreams and what could be lifetimes, so what excuses do we have?
This anime didn't just make me cry, it _inspired_ me to lead my life my way with no regrets. I now "don't want to take any regrets with me to heaven," always look for the silver lining, and strive to make other's lives better.

I feel like the reason she passed before she got to play with Kousei again, is because she felt that her goal had been completed and there was no reason for her to stay any longer. The whole series was about her helping him to accept his moms death and to listen to his music again. She felt like her job was finished when Kousei was able to play that piece in the music hall without a problem.
I agree with your statement, cuz before the ending I did not enjoy this anime at all,I thought MC was kinda boring and the jokes didn't ring with me, but then near the ending I was like...

I had a best friend who died last week ago because of heart attack she was my best since i was 4 yrs old and we both like each other and we promise that we'll wait for our time... But now she's dead she broke her promise!! That we're both going to fulfill our dreams but now all i have are the memories i spend with her! Still i love her and i hope it can reach her! 😥

You know,when Arima played his last song,and Kaori disappeared,I thought she was still alive,(because earlier she was spasaming in the hospital bed and then turned out fine),but when It cut to the cemetery,that's when I realized that she died.That was absolutely soul crusing
I watched the entire thing knowing the ending cause i got spoiled. Thats probably why it didnt make me depressed ( i cried tho)

The worst saddest thing is that Kousei didnt even say "I love you" with her or kiss her, hug her, or confess her once (actually he does )

The most frustrating thing about this anime is that kaori will never know how much kousi love her
she may have known ... he indirectly confessed to her in the firefly scene, that he hold her inside when he did the performance... but the viewers can't see her reaction because she shows her back... also, for the scene when Kousei said he will go to the hospital even tho she told him not to, because he wants to see her... (another scene with her back... i think she may have cried in both cases...)

We need an alternate ending where kaori doesn’t die and she survives the surgery
The first choice she was not suppose to die but still left Kosie because she was dying bad doesn't want him to see her die ....
The surgery was only to delay her death so she could play with Arima one more time. So even if it was successful, she would've died anyway.
There's no need for alternate ending.
The bitter ending is one of the reason this anime is on its level until now.
Even so she would have died anyway since the surgery can only lengthen her life span

The “I love you!” Hits me like a truck, then the “I’m sorry I didn’t finish the caneles. I’m sorry I hit you so much!” Makes me feel like a drizzle. Than the “I..should be the one thanking you” makes me even sadder…then the “Another spring..without you..” makes me tear up.. then the photo at the end makes it all come out and now I’m a baby again.
He first was depressed cause all he saw was bad memories and never a good one, then he became depressed because he saw good memories knowing he will never see them again but then lived with it in the end 😭😭😭😭😭

The first time I ever saw you perform, I was 5 years old. It was at a recital for the piano school I was going to. This awkward, clumsy kid came onto the stage and accidentally hit the piano stool with his butt. It was too funny. He turned to the piano that was way too big for him and the moment he played that first note, I was drawn in.
The sound was beautiful, like a 24-colour palette. The melodies danced.
The girl next to me started crying. I wasn’t expecting that at all.
And even so, you gave up the piano. Even though it totally changed other people’s lives. You’re the worst. Indecisive. Gullible. Twit.
When I found out we were in the same middle school, I was ecstatic. But how would I ever come to talk to you? Maybe I’d hang out at the lunch concession. Instead, I just watched you from afar.
I mean. After all. You all seemed to get along so well. There wasn’t really any space in there for someone like me.
When I was a kid, I had to have an operation and I started having to be at the hospital for regular check-ups. In the first year of middle school, I collapsed and I was admitted over and over. With every visit, I was there for longer and longer. Really, I didn’t get to class much in middle school, I spent more time at the hospital. And I knew something was wrong with my body.
One night, I saw my parents crying in the waiting room and I knew that my time was running out.

I binge watch this back in 2018... I was heartbroken at that time due to a break up with my ex-gf... I was so damn bitter and lifeless in that year until a friend of mine recommended me to watch some anime to help cheer up even just a bit.. I borrowed his USB containing his anime collections with full episodes and I saw this one called "Your Lie in April." After finishing this, I somehow got better for almost 3 months and it made me an anime enjoyer forever...

When arima turn 64,he come to the park where he find miyazono kaori and 3 child playing music.when arima want to go back home,he find a black stray cat sitting on the middle of the road and a truck cant see the cat.that truck move fast.....Arima jumping to the middle of the road to save the cat.The cat alive but Arima.....Death.when arima open her eyes,he see that he was death and he going to go to the other world.And he find that miyazono kaori and arima mom waiting for arima.they lived happily on the other world.

I remember watching this show and feeling really sad for kousei. Knowing that he was basically on an artist block for playing the piano again. Which was basically how I was feeling at the time too. All that kousei needed was someone who he could hold onto to know that with however he played the piano, it was okay and to keep going, even if it wasn’t perfect.
He needed someone who could relate to him as a musician instead of friends who couldn’t understand outside looking in.
Kaori was basically his saving grace. Even if she died, the impact she made on him would be forever and never forgotten.
She gave him the push he needed.
