What is most amazing to me is that when you play a song, you know exactly when and how to embellish to add layers of depth and make it beautiful. You don't just play it simply, and you don't "overdo" it. You always add just the right touch.

I used to play this superb number a couple of years ago... but it has dropped "out my hands." For some reason, I can only "hang on" to about a dozen numbers at any one time.. and only then if I play them all every day. And I cannot play by ear, or extemporise, at all. I HAVE to have the dots. The published version of this one is at the limit of my capability.

One last comment...I also noticed that your tempos were almost identical for this same song played almost three years ago, and even with added vocals. Do you keep a metronome handy for times when you don't want to think too hard about selecting the right tempo, or do you find it easy to select a good tempo just "in your head"? I'm guessing that it's a little of both...that you have no problems selecting a good tempo, but still keep a metronome app just as part of your toolkit (not that you need one). I always have some type of a click track with me mainly for those times when the rest of the band starts "running away" with the tempo (one of my two biggest pet peeves, along with "note scooping").
