  • Right on the heels of Albertosaurus comes the other albertosaurine, Gorgosaurus! And what a gorgeous model this is!
    The form, the sculpt, the pattern, and paint application and the pose all come together to give us something very interesting and unusual. The render really brings credit to this very important tyrannosaurid. The proportions are wonderfully as I have imagined Gorgosaurus for a long time. To have this dinosaur made flesh by PNSO is so pleasing a fashion, is a real pleasure indeed!

    This is, by far, the best PNSO figure in a long time. Even though it’s lipless and the teeth are pushing a boundary or two, the sculpt, pose and paint scheme make for a really beautiful representation. Ordering mine in about 2 seconds. Seriously, I can’t really see anything else wrong with this one.

      Yes that's always a problem I identified early on with PNSO insisting on releasing by clade. They all cease to be individually special, and people are going to just wait till all come out before choosing 1 or 2. It used to be when models were lot less predictable that each one was special. This one is a great one to get out of the entire wave! I would say Lythronax and perhaps Cameron if it's not too expensive for you.

    I finaly got my first PNSO Figures with Cameron and Logan and I really have to say, they look even better in hand as in any photo or video even tho you do the best to show these awsome figures. Its just such a difference to see and touch these fine details.
    The Gorgosaurus also is just a beauty again. I really love how they implemented the red/orange on its brows.and the nasal.
    I really would love to see an Edmontosaurus from PNSO, and especially a very large grown one too. Not just to get something other as a theropod (even tho its my fav clade) but also to have one extremly important member or the morrison formation too. And damn would a display with Cameron and an extremely beefy Edmontosaurus look cool.

    • @DinosDragons
      @DinosDragons  Год назад +2

      For sure! Most video cameras won't have the dynamic range needed to capture all the subtleties in PNSO's paint apps, and the different lighting used by reviewers will always be different. And there's just something magical about having it in hand!
      I would love an Edmontosaurus annectens from PNSO in 1:35!

And just as you said, my dear sir, if this is the last tyrannosaurid in this wave, what a beautiful way to surprise us. I really loved that science part and learned some new things, as usual. Man I truly hope this is the last! We need to see more variety from PNSO, which is also a concern as I do hope they will do well. I don't know how this one-clade wave has impacted their sales. I think if they had spread things out such that each tyrannosaur was a special, people would have been inclined to buy more of them.

    I really like the coloration on this one, and the pattern. The blue and red on the head helps bring a rather nice splash of color to an otherwise conservative coloration. I wasn't too pleased with how the Albertosaurus turned out, so I am relieved with this one. I'm glad it's also one of their cheaper models. As far as comparisons go, I would have liked to see how it would have compared with some other Dinosaur Park Formation animals though (like PNSO's Styracosaurus, Centrosaurus, and/or their hadrosaurid trio).

    • @DinosDragons
      @DinosDragons  Год назад

      Actually I have had quite a few viewers ask to show contemporaneous animals, and I will try to do that. My only concern is that it would make my videos even longer, stretching audience patience, so I've focussed on comparing only what seemed like close enough clade members.
      The colour in this is pleasingly similar to the release images! Including that blue on the face. I was disappointed with the lack of green in the Albertosaurus 😔

I am unsure where the definition of Gorgosaurus got lost in translation, but it definitely should translate to fast/swift lizard. Not Fierce/terrible.
    I am very curious as to why this error exists or where it originated from.

      Thanks for your comment again! Really helps to have a viewer knowledgeable in Greek. This puzzled me too the way that "δεινός" did. I am surprised though, that the original namers did not run it by native Greek speakers to make sure they had it right. But I was wondering if there was some kind of contextual shift that I was not aware of. Language has so many nuances that people who don't know it can often be lost because not everything is literal, and Greek is the hardest language I ever tried to learn!

    Honestly I found all of these newest Tyrannosaur family additions to be quite the let down.. as far as PNSO quality goes. The paint and patterns for the most part are pretty decent. However to me the figures seem a bit 'cheapened' as opposed to other PNSO tyrannosaur figures or even just a bunch of their theropod figures. For example, I dont think any of these new family members look nearly as good alongside the Zhuchentyrannus and the Qianzhousaurus. Those I regard as some of PNSO's very best work to date. The quality isn't the same overall here. The Gorgos crests aren't pronounced and there's something about the way the paint was applied to the face that makes the dinosaur look silly. I felt the same about Wally with all that glossy black paint around its eyes and mouth. They look awkwardly juvenile and derpy to me. LOL I did feel the heads of the prior 2 tyrannosaurs recently released looked a lot better. Just not enough to sell me on them. Sucks cause I love Daspleete as a dinosaur and I was really looking forward to one. Oh well. Next please

      I think that it is clear that the ZT is one of their most beautifully produced theropods ever. You can see how well the colour just stands out. If you know how to repaint you'd be a lot happier. Since I can't paint to save my life I'm stuck with the colours unless I want to pay good money for repainting!

      @DinosDragons Hey, it's cool of you to comment back! Your reviews are very in-depth and informative and you help me decide/confirm which models I'd like to pick up. I myself am also not very talented with paint either and don't have funds to have a professional paint over them for me. This was a really nice review though and I will say I think overall the Gorgosaurus looks the best out of the newly released tyrannosaursids. I do like the striping quite a bit on him.

      I think if you really streeetch things it could still work, but if you're really into accuracy to the skull reconstruction, then it would be enough of a deal breaker for you!

    Paint scheme is nice in quality but very boring at this point. Sadly a turn off for me.
