  • Have you ever wanted to become really good at something, but then quickly became discouraged as soon as you realized how much time and effort you would have to invest in it in order to master it? Well, in this video, Fr. Mike talks about one important thing that makes these aspirations more attainable. Consistency is not just a rote disciplinary measure forced on us by teachers and coaches. In the end, Fr. Mike points out, it’s about faithfulness toward whatever it is you are aiming to achieve-including holiness.
Fr. Mike is also a presenter in these faith formation programs from Ascension:

GODisGREAT M currently going thru the same phase. N m currently not on talking terms with God😠😈 🙄 as things either grow worse almost every time I Do pray or it just remains the same. Try praying constantly for the precious blood of Jesus to be poured out on yourself and on ur situation. And ask 4 d intercession of st. Anthony. These days he's d only one who has been promptly answering when ive been in a desperate situation.

I pray that God will meet you at the point of your needs. Just know that the darkest part of the night is shortly before dawn. God reminds us that the righteous may undergo suffering/afflictions but their bones will never be broken. Be strong and persevere-the light is always at the end of the tunnel.

I hope that you feel encouraged that there really is light at the end of the tunnel, and God never changes and never stops loving you regardless of how it might seem or how you are feeling. Take each day at a time, even each second at a time and know that things do get better in the end - you just have to ride out the storm sometimes. Hope this helps - sorry to hear that all is not well!

This message speaks so much to me. As I’ve been being more consistent in my prayer and scripture reading I’ve realised a lot about my relationship with God.
God is a collaborator, we work as a team and He is the captain. I’ve realised that if we aren’t working together - I’m not listening to Him or talking to Him - I suffer and I lose at a task or game that we both wanted me to win at. But when I do, I become better and better at things I didn’t ever think I was strong enough to do.
And I’m glad I’ve started this at a young age because now I feel ready to step into adulthood knowing that I’ll being doing it while consistently collaborating with a most powerful, most knowledgeable and most loving God.
    Consistency is key!

The one thing which is truly Awesome is even though other non-catholic Christians are not very accurate on some of the things they do, but God still speaks to them as well.
Honestly though, I get it, where I life Its nothing but baptists and sometimes its hard not to be able to talk with more then a handful of people who are catholic... The one thing I regret about moving to the country.

So how do you use scripture to speak to God? I have been having so many struggles on just finding what he is trying to say to me. Sometimes I get it through experiencing something at a particular time. But those don't come to me very often, I doubt if Its really him or if its just me. I know he's there, but I struggle translating his answers.

Joseph Cappel sorry that this has taken so long but life got in the way however, when it comes to communication with God, we must make sure that life doesn’t get in the way. This itself has great benefits because as I have looked to the Bible more I have seen God’s word more and reading Psalms has exposed me to how people interact with Him making his voice easier to hear. A key thing that improves this is asking for it. When we seek things from the Lord with a heart working towards or at a point of pureness He is sure to help and communicate. I hope that this was helpful and that you begin to hear and identify His voice 😊

Amen father! I know from experience that going to daily Mass under any circumstances (except when dearly ill or inability to get to a Mass because of location) all 17 years of my life has changed me dramatically. It's to the point where Mary has gifted me the desire and demand to be in The Lord's house every day, not doing so leaves me empty and dead inside. #faithfulness=consistency

I've been praying the rosary every day consistently for 4 years now. I was inspired by my mom initially because I always saw her praying the rosary alone. We used to pray as a family when my dad was still alive but as his health condition got worse, we slowly stopped praying together and she retreated to praying alone. One day I decided to pray with her and ever since then, it has gotten to the point that if I don't start my day with the rosary, my day is incomplete. I am trying to add other forms of prayer to this daily ritual such as reading my bible, but for someone like me, that isn't fond of reading, it's a little hard. I'm starting by reading the shortest books of the bible for now. I have read the gospels (Matthew and John) last year.

Thank you Father Mike for your faithful, honest words, for always telling it to us as it is. I admit I have problems with consistency, I mean I show up everyday to pray and read scripture, but most of the time my heart's not in it and I'm only there on the outside, so I lack consistency or faithfulness. I keep coming back day after day, even when I don't feel like it, but most of the time I just don't feel like I've got my heart into what I'm reading/ praying about. Thank you Father Mike for making this video and for letting me know it's ok, that all I have to do is keep trying my best and even on the days when I don't feel like it, God will be there with me, helping me, listening to me and converting my poor heart and soul.

The Sinnoh Firefly -- did you know you can offer that up as a sacrifice? A traditional Morning Offering says, "O my Jesus, Through the Immaculate Heart of Mary, I offer all my prayers, works, joys, suffering, struggles, and sorrows of this day, united to the holy sacrifice of the Mass throughout the world, for all the intentions of Your Sacred Heart, and for [N]." If prayer is a struggle, then you've just made two offerings -- the prayer and the struggle. And remember when we don't know how to pray, the Holy Spirit completes it for us, perfecting it -- all we have to do is show up and try the best we can, desiring to please God...and by offering it through the Immaculate Heart of Mary, she turns it to gold and precious jewels. I also find it helps if I invite the Holy Spirit first, and sometimes I have a little chat with a particular saint and ask them to pray with me. And of course our Guardian Angels are always with us in prayer, praying with us, so it's good to acknowledge his presence before prayer, and thank him for helping you out.

    • @marcoferreira0223
      @marcoferreira0223 6 лет назад +5

Such wise words! I never thought of it like that! You're so right, just showing up with the will of wanting to pray, of wanting to please the Lord is enough. Even if we don't pray right, the Holy Spirit will do it for us

Gabriela Nappo thank you so much for your reply! I don't know if I can pray the rosary, I have a hard enough time praying a decade of the rosary each day and trying to remain focused on that along with other daily prayers. But it is something I hope to be able to do in the future, through consistency and perserverance in prayer. I know how important the rosary is but I find it almost impossible to pray with concentration, focus and meaning, instead of just rambling on the words. Hopefully I will get there, to praying that is acceptable to God and that's holy, pure and dignified! Thank you for praying for me, my name is Marco, I will pray for you too.

KA Fleury Wow. Thanks so much both of you. I pray everyday, and a lot of times it is a struggle in staying focused & having that connection. Some are better than others. I always remember the Lord is there, even I don't 'feel' him. He's always there. I tend to start the day by offering the day to the Lord, and I know Mary is looking out for me. But it's all a process, as Father Mike said. I thank God. Also, every night before bed, I like to pray the Prayer to St. Michael chaplet.
Every day I also do the Rosary the Divine Mercy chaplet. That, and trying more to speak from my own words. All has to be done with faith.

Listen to Fr. Mike. I was born again in 1968. Fifty-one years later, this Catholic is still resisting temptations to indulge my wicked flesh. Yet things that were hard years ago are now easy. I look forward now, for example, to my morning prayer hour when for years it was just a duty. There is always room for improvement.

These videos that you make are really good! What you do is really important and nessecary. This was just what I needed to know how to improve my prayer life. Thank you! God bless you.

Years ago I heard a coach say "practice makes PERMANENT". Using this fact and Dr. Mike's words about consistency imagine how our prayers will give glory to God

Enjoying the process .... wow! Great thought. Coming up on 10 years of marriage and we love each other so much more than we did in our wedding day, but we've been through a lot and it hasn't been an easy process. But wow, to enjoy the process and expect it will be hard to grow deeper in our marriage....
