As an alcoholic, that analogy makes total sense. I would never keep alcohol in my house. I need to do the same with degenerate media, toxic people and practice regular fasting and prayer.
God does it only if you let Him do that and ask to do that, since He respects your free will!!!! If you don't care about it and think it's God's responsibility, you will not get it, but if you sincerely ask and wish to be Holy and let Holy Spirit guide you and let it all go and put on God, that's... that is the most beautiful thing...
Really needed this. Just uninstalled the computer game that I've honestly wasted hundreds of hours on. I can do so much better and yet I let myself become bored and distracted so I do what gives me quick dopamine hits, instead of preparing myself for an eternity with God...
When I read a book about St Therese of Child Jesus, for the first time in my life I said to myself, Oh I want to be a Saint! BEFORE I read that book, being a Saint is something impossible for me, WHILE AND AFTER reading that book, Oh boy, there is HOPE for me. With the grace and mercy of God, I can be a saint. I also heard somewhere that God would be sad if we only aim for purgatory, He wants us to be saints!
"We don't make ourselves holy. God does -- He's the one who does it...Lord, I trust you, in your time, I'm just simply showing up and I'm simply saying Yes." Good one, Fr. Mike😊👍
@@jeffcaptain6738 No, it is our fault. He is ever-willing to give us His grace, we simply must receive it. It is this bit that Fr. Mike refers to when he says we are showing up and saying “Yes” (synergia/cooperation). God bless you.
Yes I threw away bad culture, fugues from reality, bad thinking habits, and other things, but only after intoxicating me a lot with them and experiencing the emptiness those habits give, distancing me from reality and God. Conversion means doing a strong soul clean up, and make place for virtues like charity, for instance to take some root in us (e.g. help the poor). I can work better now, with a great filling of being sober. Start and end the day with the "Our Father "and the "Hail Mary" bring the best in me. We have to restart the process once in a while when we fail, we ask God, we do the hard steps, we do our best. Let's go on.
I'm working toward Sainthood. Not wishing for it but working hard toward making it happen. God love you for bringing this to our attention. I have a long way to go, and much to do. God Bless. Claire.

God's word will truly bring you out of whatever spiritual captivity you are held by. It took time but I finally began to realize that I had much to unlearn before I could see the truth. God bless
@@br5747 My Dear brother in Christ I have some things to reply to your statements in the order you yourself expressed them 1.born again Christian is not a denomination that existed in the time the bible was written it’s simply a term for all Christians as any baptized in the name of the Father son and Holy Spirit are born again regardless of denomination so they are not referring to your denomination . 2.Indeed we are sanctified through Faith ,what is Faith ? It is an action that is made not nearly words the letters of Paul express this themselves he talks about how important works are not just a thing that we should do but the fruit of Faith it is the result of it ,it is the proof or reality of a persons faith so there for faith is action. I could go on my brother and I’m happy to but I would erge you not to Condemn the church Jesus established and has prevailed in apostolic succession through ages . Also looking at an image is not the same as worshiping it God himself command the Israelites to make a BRONZE serpent and put it on the mountain they looked towards it to remind themself of God not to worship it so if you say that Catholics are sinning by praying INFRONT of (not to) a statue to remind them of God you would be saying God commanded the Israelites to Sin the bible does not Contradict our Faith it is it’s foundation.🤍✝️

As a child in the 60's a Priest, at a talk, asked 'how many of us were saints'. No hands went up! Father then explained, in the Apostles Creed, we are parts of the Communion of Saints! We are part of the Church Militant!!!! We have to work at becoming Church Triumphant and spending some time in the Church Suffering! Your Talk brings that all back to me. Thank you, Fr. Mike.... I heard someone say we're the little s saints, the souls in Heaven who aren't canonized are the middle s saints, and the canonized are the capital S Saints. :)
@@christinebravomom5711 Part of your answer does not make sense. A saint in heaven may not be canonized but experience a higher degree of the beatific vision than someone canonized-as this person just may be an unknown saint, perhaps an unknown martyr. There is definitely a distinction between the Saints living on earth and those in heaven... as those in heaven are perfected and without sin. Peace.
A friend's mom passed away today. He said when he and his sister wanted to pray the Lord's Prayer, she could not remember the words and had to look them up. Let's pray for those so far from becoming a saint. They know, but have fallen.
I think you missed the point. The fact that your friends mom took the initiative to look up the words (she may, or may not have memory issues) is her being the Prodigal child -and turning to God. He is most pleased with her!
that is the Truth! After fasting 40 days and 40 nights, The Holy Spirit will pray for us, The Holy Spirit in us will call "Abba." We do know that The Holy spirit is now living free in us, and we are now called the chosen child.
Fr Mike, how do you have such a window into my soul? Every video seems to be talking just to me. BIAY last year gave me the discipline to try to be closer to God every single day. And yet today it is a hit and miss on my prayer life. So I will begin to pray again today and wait for Gods time to make me a saint
I actually feels a little bit of proud coming out of me when you quote the part "you don't want it". I'm very worried about myself right now, i did not expect that reaction from me. I suffered from lust my entire life, now is two years and a half since my conversion and after all the pain and prayers and the sacramental life sometimes i find myself suffering really bad in my body, so bad that i do not really know if i can take it anymore. The life i was so attached to when i was not a christian is tormenting me. I tried with all my body my soul my heart but sometimes i find myself falling from nothing. I keep trying, and praying and it will be what God wants. Thank you Fr. Mike. God bless you.
Hello, I don't know who you are, but I just want to say, please don't give up. I can tell you the truth, I'm struggling because of lust at this very moment, but I urge you, that may you stay strong as a Christian. Never give up the fight, even if you fall hard. Remember when Peter was sinking in the water? When he cried out to Jesus, "Lord, save me!"Jesus immediately reached out His Hand. It doesn't matter, how far we have sunken, whether the water is up to our feet, our waist, or our head. What matters is that Jesus can catch us. So please, I urge you, even if you fall many times, please get up every time it happens. It doesn't matte how many times we fall, it matters how many times we get up. As Tertullian, the Church Fathers, says, "No one is Wise, no one is Faithful, no one excels in Dignity, but the Christian; and no one is a Christian be he who preserves even to the end" (Prescription on Heretics, Chapter 3). Also, I might also add, that the fact that you still sense that something is wrong, even if you feel pride, the fact that you feel guilty and are worried about it, is a sign you are not lost. Because, as St. John Crysostom says, "For even if we do not seek virtue, but at least praise it, we shall perhaps be able to obtain it; and even if we do not avoid evil, but at least censure it, we shall perhaps be able to escape it." So I ask of you, please do not give up, instead, be like all of us Christians, who also fight this struggle, and many other struggles. As St. Paul says, "No temptation has seized you except what is common to man. And God is Faithful; He will not let you be tempted beyond what you can bear. But when you are tenpted, He will also provide a way out, so that you can stand up under it." (1 Corinthians 10:13). So I urge of you, that as Siblings in Christ, let us, while we are still able too, fight the Good Fight of Faith. (1 Timothy 6:12). May God Bless you. May you take care of yourself, and others, as much as you can. May you stay safe and strong out there. Lord Jesus Christ, Son of God, have Mercy upon us, sinners.
@@randalejetmagalit1198 Thank you my brother for this words. I know that God works even when we do not really expect it. I keep trying and fighting until my last breath. This is what i'm asking to God. If now He did not want to free me from my suffering, because it's time for me now to paying my debt to the Justice for what i was in my darkest past, according to His Divine will, i'm sure He will provide me the strenght when He decide the time is come. Even when the weight seems to much for me. God bless you.
You remind me of St Paul’s personal pain. He never stated what it was but he battled it. St Paul is a mighty Saint. I dunno if Lust is an addiction but all addictions can be eliminated with God. Gluttony is another deadly sin and that is abundant. It’s your cross to carry until God carrys it with you. I wish you peace. When I ask, as Jesus did, that He take a cross from me - and it remains, I don’t think He says no, I think he says, not yet. Surrender to a loving Father that wishes only the best for you. Jesus fell 3 times carrying his cross and was given a helper. Battle on!
@@Donna-cc1kt Thank you so much for this kind words. For real. I surely want to battle till my last day. It's the most difficoult path i've ever take but i wouldn't change it. Ever. Sometimes i feel so in pain i could think of it, but i pray that it will never ever happend. All the physical and spiritual pain is just something i could offer to Jesus, apart from that i got nothing. He can use it in the better way possible. God bless you.
You must become born again and filled with the Holy Ghost and God will regenerate you but until you repent and fully surrender You’re walking by flesh and not His Spirit. Repent my friend ..
I needed to hear this: be ruthless with my environment. In AA, we say "we are not saints," but I silently say to myself that we are working on it! I am not recovering from alcohol addiction/abuse, but suffered with pain medication for a while after a car accident. Now I ask myself frequently do I really need anything related to pain if I am in pain? How can I work on pain management through my faith and the values of faith that I have learned from just being a grateful Catholic? Another thing I thought of when you spoke was the fact that piety and demonstration of pious acts don't necessarily mean that you are striving for sanctity, either. What's on the outside doesn't always match what's on the inside. Humble giving of oneself to God and our loved ones even when emotionally you may not want to or feel like you can is part of what brings you to sanctity. Thank you Fr. Mike. I am sure you will be a Saint. I really hope that I will get there, too.
Father Mike Schmitz thank you for choosing to do God's work! You truly are inspirational and we all need that! And I am so glad that you take the time and you do your very best to explain our Catholic faith! Which honestly a lot of priests don't take the time to do. They seemed to have lost the faith and they do Mass because it's their job and requires it. But not because they love God so much that they want to spread the good news of God's love and his mercy. You know? Thank you for all that you do! And may God bless you and all of your family! I like sharing your videos! 😊 Please keep up the good work that you are doing! 😁🙏🙌
This is so powerful - and timely. I needed to here this!! God's will be done...at His time. I just hope when he decides to tell me, he'll speak up. My hearing isn't always the best. :-)

I often ask myself when there is a choice to be made; “Am I interested or Committed.” I am now applying this to being a saint. I guess it has gone through its cycle. As a child I was committed to being one read a new saint story every week embodied my two patron saints everyday. Then the teen years hit and I was merely interested. Watching this video (thank you) I realize I must be committed everyday. 💕

Luis- sometimes even a step back can end up being a step closer to God so long as you are open to His grace. Read the book by Father Jacques Philip, “a Small Treatise on Peace of Heart” (title is similar I don’t have the exact title on hand).
@@br5747 I would like to point out, you can't call on the dead but they can ask you to deliver a message or help someone in the living world. Usually through an angel or a messenger of God but that's it. It has be through him. It's OK to talk to your dead relatives when you miss them or when you're mourning just don't call on them or try to channel them. Channeling is very dangerous and risky.
Such a wonderful message Fr. Mike, thank you. People-- I don't think want to earn it. They want to be accepted by the way they are, --however your statement makes perfect sense. Sainthood needs to be earned like anything else. You need to go through the lessons of life and to learn from those lessons. Some people don't learn their lessons-- so they are repeated again and again. Stubbornness prevents them from learning, as well as their way of thought. What you think you become, --your thinking needs to be in align with God's purpose, until then if your intentions are not in alignment with your thoughts the outcome will be negative. Change your thoughts, you change your life.

God knows the plan and he also knows the deal what happens in this lifetime as always in the path he laid before me personally. Father Mike when I hear your sermon I felt a wash of red which was the pulsing heart of Jesus. Then, I saw red again lava flowing down destroying everything it is then I heard His voice. Thanks , for your sermon ✨😇✨
For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ, that each one may receive the things done in the body, according to what he has done, whether good or bad.
When I was 19 and very devout, Mother Mary appeared to me to give me comforting message. I can remember clearly what she looked like and how we communicated. I’ll keep that to myself, I don’t want anyone saying they saw her to and describe what she looked liked.
I’ve met Father Mike at a conference. He is a Godly, humble man, kind, and grace-filled Priest. He has touched so many lives and I believe that if he continues with Gods work, he will one day be a Saint. This was so thought-provoking for me. Kind of an answer to what stands between God and myself? Environment? Sacramental Life? It would be great for him to write a book on this theme.😇
God made us in His image. We are children of God. I think to be saints, we need to be our true selves. Going back to our true default nature. We were made by God out of Love. We are saints if we fall back into what we are - LOVE. 😍
You're right, Father. If we want to be a Saint then we'll lead our lives accordingly. It's like wanting to be a doctor or lawyer. There's a lot of effort that goes into that and you have to prepare yourself for it.
Wonderful video. I especially like your metaphor of weeding, planting, watering but trusting God to do the growing. I’ll certainly remember that one. Thank you for your good work.
I can only wish it, but could never do it living, the main thing thats holding me back from sainthood is that i refuse to pay that expensive price of GREAT SUFFERINGS! However the best i can do is to die like a saint. Because of all my mental limitations and trauma and other circumstance LIVING like a saint is near impossible, but indeed you are right on all counts!
I have been asking to be a saint for quite some time….. even told God that we could be “quiet” about it. Lol. I am blessed to be in a place where I can be “all in” for the Lord. Praise God that you have been a major help / especially in teaching my confirmation and CYM classes… may God bless you,., so many blessings have happened due to the pandemic / you are one of them… another one is three grandchildren. We KNOW what needs to be done… just need to DO it! Praise God! I am a work in progress… but I am HIS work….
We as God's children should never give up hope on becoming a Saint. For we are(Saints in the making) ,like you said Fr. Mike in our yes to the Lord, He can and will make us the Saints we long to be. As long as we never stop striving to be come one. May God Bless You now and Always, And thank you Fr. Make for all your inspirational talks they are so good they really touch my heart and give me more food for thought. GOD BLESS
I am nothing without God the way it's always been and it's the way it will always be. And even as an unknown saint are real job is to help guide people's souls to the Heavenly Kingdom. What means the most to me sfm ever blessed enough to be able to help save the children the new generations and the old we're all from God's seed and it's time to bring the lambs back home. And my belief also is when it comes to Satan he wants redemption and possible salvation someday. He is actually doing God's work by dividing the most wicked of the flock before the coming of Christ.
I hear you and it is true with everything else. I am not thinner, because I don't want to be... I chosen to not eat healthier, or do exercise, etc.... it is with everything else... I have not chosen to eat healthier or start exercising. I also want to be a Saint, I have chosen to not really work towards my sainthood.
This reminds me of a scripture passage I will copy and paste from the Douay-Rheims translation. I think your video and the quote you mentioned reminded me of it given the subject matter of choice and what we face on a day to day basis. We choose our own will or God’s. I choose my own far too often but this scripture reminds us we can always turn back and get back on track Matthew 21: 28 But what think you? A certain man had two sons: and coming to the first, he said: Son, go work to day in my vineyard. 29 And he answering, said: I will not. But afterwards, being moved with repentance, he went. 30 And coming to the other, he said in like manner. And he answering said: I go, Sir. And he went not. 31 Which of the two did the father's will? They say to him: The first. Jesus saith to them: Amen I say to you that the publicans and the harlots shall go into the kingdom of God before you. 32 For John came to you in the way of justice: and you did not believe him. But the publicans and the harlots believed him: but you, seeing it, did not even afterwards repent, that you might believe him.
I can’t get rid off that thought that once we die there is nothing. I am a practicing catholic but I can’t rid off this thought. Your talks are great to calm my mind.
LUKE 20:30-40 30and the second 31and the third married her; and in the same way all seven died, leaving no children. 32“Finally the woman died also. 33“In the resurrection therefore, which one’s wife will she be? For all seven had married her.” 34Jesus said to them, “The sons of this age marry and are given in marriage, 35but those who are considered worthy to attain to that age and the resurrection from the dead, neither marry nor are given in marriage; 36for they cannot even die anymore, because they are like angels, and are sons of God, being sons of the resurrection. 37“But that the dead are raised, even Moses showed, in the passage about the burning bush, where he calls the Lord THE GOD OF ABRAHAM, AND THE GOD OF ISAAC, AND THE GOD OF JACOB. 38“Now He is not the God of the dead but of the living; for all live to Him.” 39Some of the scribes answered and said, “Teacher, You have spoken well.” 40For they did not have courage to question Him any longer about anything.
Amen amen. Men which I am one are competitive by nature feel at times like it’s a game they’ll never win- winning equals perfection? Think one good thing to consider is a new push towards confession. Need greater teaching outreach on this important sacrament imho.

When you chose to be a saint and stumble, you must remember that you are humble.
God isn't finished w me yet & I'm gonna trust His mercy
As an alcoholic, that analogy makes total sense. I would never keep alcohol in my house. I need to do the same with degenerate media, toxic people and practice regular fasting and prayer.
"We don't make ourselves holy, God does that." Thank you Father Mike!
Same for me.
St Therese gave me hope as well. I look for small things all the time. 🌹
"We don't make ourselves holy. God does -- He's the one who does it...Lord, I trust you, in your time, I'm just simply showing up and I'm simply saying Yes." Good one, Fr. Mike😊👍
So if I’m not holy, it’s God’s fault?
God Bless. Claire.
We are so glad that you enjoyed this video, Claire!
7 things you might not know about the Saints and wouldn't unless you read the 62 verses where they are mentioned in the New Testament.
1. The Biblical term Saint refers to the Born Again Christians who are alive.
2. They're Sanctified through their faith in Christ. In the Bible they became Saints because of their faith in Christ and the resurrection. Not by their own merit.
3. Every born again Christian walking the earth today is a Saint.
4. Of all 62 verses in the Bible, the Saints are always referred to in the plural form never in the singular. It's simply referring to the born again Christians.
5. The Catholic religion clearly portrays a false definition of a saint.
6. The Catholic saints were adopted from the pagan beliefs of polytheism or having multiple gods to pray to.
7. The enemy has instituted this belief system in the Catholic religion to get people to pray to or communicate with deceased persons which is the sin of necromancy which is an abomination to the Lord.
Necromancy is mentioned many times in the Bible.
As a former 40 year Catholic my eyes were finally opened as I studied the scriptures. God's word will truly bring you out of whatever spiritual captivity you are held by.
It took time but I finally began to realize that I had much to unlearn before I could see the truth.

@@br5747 My Dear brother in Christ
I have some things to reply to your statements in the order you yourself expressed them
1.born again Christian is not a denomination that existed in the time the bible was written it’s simply a term for all Christians as any baptized in the name of the Father son and Holy Spirit are born again regardless of denomination so they are not referring to your denomination .
St. Thomas Aquinas told his sister that the way to be a saint is to will it. Really tough to do!!! But - never give up!

Peace.
Glad no one raised their hands because you have to be dead and in heaven to be a saint.

It is God that makes us a Saint

ABBA FATHER , by your grace may Your Will be a burning desire within me🙏🏾❤️🙏🏾
that is the Truth!
After fasting 40 days and 40 nights, The Holy Spirit will pray for us, The Holy Spirit in us will call "Abba." We do know that The Holy spirit is now living free in us, and we are now called the chosen child.
This came at the most absolutely necessary Holy Spirit timing for me, thank you so much
Fr Mike, how do you have such a window into my soul? Every video seems to be talking just to me. BIAY last year gave me the discipline to try to be closer to God every single day. And yet today it is a hit and miss on my prayer life. So I will begin to pray again today and wait for Gods time to make me a saint
I ask myself the same question almost every new video. Right when I have an issue in my faith life, boom! Father Mike is there.
Me too!
I actually feels a little bit of proud coming out of me when you quote the part
"you don't want it".
Amen
Thank you. I am so hard on myself . Jesus I trust in you.
That others might be holier that I so long as I become as holy as I should… Lord, please grant me the grace to desire it.
Amen. I hear God's message to me through these words, Fr. Mike. Thank you for sharing these truths.
This is so powerful - and timely. I needed to here this!! God's will be done...at His time. I just hope when he decides to tell me, he'll speak up. My hearing isn't always the best. :-)

God chooses his saints, He chooses whom He will even if the chosen is a sinner. We are reminded of this today Day of St Peter and St Paul.

Becoming a Saint means to heal!
What???
Father Mike when I hear your sermon I felt a wash of red which was the pulsing heart of Jesus. Then, I saw red again lava flowing down destroying everything it is then I heard His voice. Thanks , for your sermon ✨😇✨
For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ, that each one may receive the things done in the body, according to what he has done, whether good or bad.
Thank you Fr. Very helpful, indeed

You're right, Father. If we want to be a Saint then we'll lead our lives accordingly. It's like wanting to be a doctor or lawyer. There's a lot of effort that goes into that and you have to prepare yourself for it.

"I've done it! I've conquered all sin!"
Pride: 👁️👄👁️
What a blessing to know so many faithful are out there - in the world, loving God. ❤️🙏❤️
I think there's a growth mindset that a lot of people lack. Which is why some people get discouraged so easily when they hear words like this.
This reminds me of a scripture passage I will copy and paste from the Douay-Rheims translation. I think your video and the quote you mentioned reminded me of it given the subject matter of choice and what we face on a day to day basis. We choose our own will or God’s. I choose my own far too often but this scripture reminds us we can always turn back and get back on track
Matthew 21: 28 But what think you?
God bless you Father! 🙏🙏🙏
Amen you on spot

@@AscensionPresents I do my friend Bernadette introduce me to this and this is just peaceful and beautiful ❤️❤️❤️
Fr. Mike, did you make this video for me, specifically, today? Because it sure seems like it. Hits at the perfect time.
I can’t get rid off that thought that once we die there is nothing. I am a practicing catholic but I can’t rid off this thought. Your talks are great to calm my mind.
Once we die, there is everything for those who humbled themselves before God.
All men are destined to swim in ocean of God's love.
As scripture says, “I believe, help my unbelief.” This is now your prayer.
Peace in Christ.
@@G-MIP Thank you for the encouragement. I need it.
LUKE 20:30-40
30and the second 31and the third married her; and in the same way all seven died, leaving no children. 32“Finally the woman died also. 33“In the resurrection therefore, which one’s wife will she be? For all seven had married her.”
34Jesus said to them, “The sons of this age marry and are given in marriage, 35but those who are considered worthy to attain to that age and the resurrection from the dead, neither marry nor are given in marriage; 36for they cannot even die anymore, because they are like angels, and are sons of God, being sons of the resurrection.
I'm simply saying yes... so true
#Askascension Im fully inspired by the Lord...A Saint ..Si! Thankyou! Godbless!
Amen amen. Men which I am one are competitive by nature feel at times like it’s a game they’ll never win- winning equals perfection? Think one good thing to consider is a new push towards confession. Need greater teaching outreach on this important sacrament imho.
