1 - if it's incompatible with holiness, get rid of it
2 - pray, fast and almsgiving
3 - live the sacramental life of the Church
4 - be patient with god, we don't make ourselves holy

@@br5747 My Dear brother in Christ
I have some things to reply to your statements in the order you yourself expressed them
1.born again Christian is not a denomination that existed in the time the bible was written it’s simply a term for all Christians as any baptized in the name of the Father son and Holy Spirit are born again regardless of denomination so they are not referring to your denomination .
2.Indeed we are sanctified through Faith ,what is Faith ? It is an action that is made not nearly words the letters of Paul express this themselves he talks about how important works are not just a thing that we should do but the fruit of Faith it is the result of it ,it is the proof or reality of a persons faith so there for faith is action. I could go on my brother and I’m happy to but I would erge you not to Condemn the church Jesus established and has prevailed in apostolic succession through ages . Also looking at an image is not the same as worshiping it God himself command the Israelites to make a BRONZE serpent and put it on the mountain they looked towards it to remind themself of God not to worship it so if you say that Catholics are sinning by praying INFRONT of (not to) a statue to remind them of God you would be saying God commanded the Israelites to Sin the bible does not Contradict our Faith it is it’s foundation.🤍✝️

Hello, I don't know who you are, but I just want to say, please don't give up. I can tell you the truth, I'm struggling because of lust at this very moment, but I urge you, that may you stay strong as a Christian. Never give up the fight, even if you fall hard. Remember when Peter was sinking in the water? When he cried out to Jesus, "Lord, save me!"Jesus immediately reached out His Hand. It doesn't matter, how far we have sunken, whether the water is up to our feet, our waist, or our head. What matters is that Jesus can catch us.
So please, I urge you, even if you fall many times, please get up every time it happens. It doesn't matte how many times we fall, it matters how many times we get up. As Tertullian, the Church Fathers, says, "No one is Wise, no one is Faithful, no one excels in Dignity, but the Christian; and no one is a Christian be he who preserves even to the end" (Prescription on Heretics, Chapter 3). Also, I might also add, that the fact that you still sense that something is wrong, even if you feel pride, the fact that you feel guilty and are worried about it, is a sign you are not lost. Because, as St. John Crysostom says, "For even if we do not seek virtue, but at least praise it, we shall perhaps be able to obtain it; and even if we do not avoid evil, but at least censure it, we shall perhaps be able to escape it." So I ask of you, please do not give up, instead, be like all of us Christians, who also fight this struggle, and many other struggles. As St. Paul says, "No temptation has seized you except what is common to man. And God is Faithful; He will not let you be tempted beyond what you can bear. But when you are tenpted, He will also provide a way out, so that you can stand up under it." (1 Corinthians 10:13). So I urge of you, that as Siblings in Christ, let us, while we are still able too, fight the Good Fight of Faith. (1 Timothy 6:12).
May God Bless you. May you take care of yourself, and others, as much as you can. May you stay safe and strong out there.
Lord Jesus Christ, Son of God, have Mercy upon us, sinners.

You remind me of St Paul’s personal pain. He never stated what it was but he battled it. St Paul is a mighty Saint. I dunno if Lust is an addiction but all addictions can be eliminated with God. Gluttony is another deadly sin and that is abundant. It’s your cross to carry until God carrys it with you. I wish you peace. When I ask, as Jesus did, that He take a cross from me - and it remains, I don’t think He says no, I think he says, not yet. Surrender to a loving Father that wishes only the best for you. Jesus fell 3 times carrying his cross and was given a helper. Battle on!

Conversion means doing a strong soul clean up, and make place for virtues like charity, for instance to take some root in us (e.g. help the poor). I can work better now, with a great filling of being sober. Start and end the day with the "Our Father "and the "Hail Mary" bring the best in me. We have to restart the process once in a while when we fail, we ask God, we do the hard steps, we do our best. Let's go on.

I needed to hear this: be ruthless with my environment. In AA, we say "we are not saints," but I silently say to myself that we are working on it! I am not recovering from alcohol addiction/abuse, but suffered with pain medication for a while after a car accident.
Now I ask myself frequently do I really need anything related to pain if I am in pain? How can I work on pain management through my faith and the values of faith that I have learned from just being a grateful Catholic?
Another thing I thought of when you spoke was the fact that piety and demonstration of pious acts don't necessarily mean that you are striving for sanctity, either. What's on the outside doesn't always match what's on the inside. Humble giving of oneself to God and our loved ones even when emotionally you may not want to or feel like you can is part of what brings you to sanctity.
Thank you Fr. Mike. I am sure you will be a Saint. I really hope that I will get there, too.

7 things you might not know about the Saints and wouldn't unless you read the 62 verses where they are mentioned in the New Testament.
      1. The Biblical term Saint refers to the Born Again Christians who are alive.
      2. They're Sanctified through their faith in Christ. In the Bible they became Saints because of their faith in Christ and the resurrection. Not by their own merit.
      3. Every born again Christian walking the earth today is a Saint.
      4. Of all 62 verses in the Bible, the Saints are always referred to in the plural form never in the singular. It's simply referring to the born again Christians.
      5. The Catholic religion clearly portrays a false definition of a saint.
      6. The Catholic saints were adopted from the pagan beliefs of polytheism or having multiple gods to pray to.
      7. The enemy has instituted this belief system in the Catholic religion to get people to pray to or communicate with deceased persons which is the sin of necromancy which is an abomination to the Lord.
Necromancy is mentioned many times in the Bible.
As a former 40 year Catholic my eyes were finally opened as I studied the scriptures. God's word will truly bring you out of whatever spiritual captivity you are held by.
It took time but I finally began to realize that I had much to unlearn before I could see the truth.

People-- I don't think want to earn it. They want to be accepted by the way they are, --however your statement makes perfect sense. Sainthood needs to be earned like anything else. You need to go through the lessons of life and to learn from those lessons. Some people don't learn their lessons-- so they are repeated again and again. Stubbornness prevents them from learning, as well as their way of thought. What you think you become, --your thinking needs to be in align with God's purpose, until then if your intentions are not in alignment with your thoughts the outcome will be negative. Change your thoughts, you change your life.

I think the real issue is one of framing.
On some level, we understand our own dishonesty. The mind is dark to itself. How many times in our lives have we truly believed our own lies even as we told them? Then learned later we were lying. Even to ourselves. This is a desperate state of being. This is especially frightening in the light of the teaching that not all who cry LORD LORD! will be known by God. Anyone reading that part of the gospels should feel a deep discomfort. Many people fall off their faith and if asked if they ever truly chose it in the first place, they can only shrug. Have I truly chosen my path? From my perspective, only time will tell. I can only trust God that it IS real. If asked, I can only say maybe I have. I sure hope I have. That's the best I can do if I am to be brutally honest. God knows. I can only trust God with knowing if I have. And if not, lead me to choosing it.
So anyone answering "I sure hope so" to if they desire to be a saint is.. not the most unpromising answer. I'd be more worried if someone answered with self-assurance.
If nothing else, you can request God, Christ, and Holy Spirit to make you truly choose it. If you cannot be sure in your own honesty, ask God to help you really choose it. Though that may sound strange, you can simply ask God to instill the things he wants in to you even against your will. Which.. becomes by your will by asking, I suppose. I just know it works.

After a lot of anger and depression in a recent episode, I got furious with God. I was furious that I was constantly sacrificing for other people out of love and compassion, but it seemed like God was no where for me.
I come from a broken family, and suffer with CPTSD as a result, which leaves me feeling unloved, and abandoned by everyone.
I felt betrayed by God, because it seemed like he was actively willing my suffering, and simply just using me as a pawn to get his will accomplished, all the while discarding me.
I came to God in prayer and meditation for a few days, and felt absolutely nothing. I became even more angry. "How dare you create me just to suffer! Not only did you allow me to be broken, you WILLED it!!! And I thought you loved me, God! But now I see that you don't actually care for me. I'm not actually your child. And you don't even care about what I'm doing now. How could you say you love me as a perfect father, yet give me over to abandonment, even when I am following your commandments?!"
All I want is to finally feel loved. I heard a song by Matthew West called "Before you ask her", and it reminded me of how treasured women and daughters are, and how much the father cared for them. And then... Me. A man, who grew up with abusive and neglectful parents who only view me as cannon fodder to protect women. It pissed me off so much. If I was just born a girl, I wouldn't have had to deal with these feelings. Because it is so so hard for men to feel connection, and loved, or needed. And the father in that song obviously didn't care what happened to the guy.
I just want to feel loved. I just want the pain to stop. Is that too much to ask? Why has God abandoned me? No one has answered. I'm losing faith in the goodness of God, and his love for me.

Hello, this is a little late but I wanted to let you know that sometimes it's hard to feel God's love. Forgive me if this comment comes off as cheesey or irritating or naive, but while I can't say that I went through the same issues as you, I can say that there was a period of time in my life where I despised God. I was angry with him because a lot of the things I wanted to do didn't really work with the rules that I was supposed to follow, and a lot of the people around me weren't people that I wanted to help or even love.
I'll save you the majority of what was essentially the story of my life for the last decade, but basically I forsake my devotion to the Lord for a while until I thought I resolved my problems when I twisted a lot of things about Catholicism to fit my lifestyle, and then found the actual resolution when my uncle accidentally gave me the wake up call I needed.
God does love you, just as he loves me and every single one of his creations (that includes the evil ones), but he wants us to love him like he loves us. And the love that God gives and wants to receive is unconditional love, which means he will permit the suffering of an individual in order to challenge their love. If a person manages to love and trust God in spite of the misery they experience, then their relationship with him will grow stronger. If someone turned their back on the Lord due to the struggles that they were supposed to go through, then they had not truly felt unconditional love for him and, should they eventually regain their faith, they can reflect and understand what it is that they have to work on.
I know a lot of this probably isn't what you want to hear, and I'm also aware that by the standards of a lot of people in today's society this kind of thing is considered toxic, but the length of a lifetime is but a blip in the vastness that is eternity and if you make it to heaven that pain will have been more than worth it. I'm not gonna sugar coat it; sometimes our suffering will feel suffocating and it will seem like God doesn't love you, but a good way of reminding yourself that he does love you is by remembering that Jesus Christ was crucified so that we may all have a chance to gain eternal life.
I'm sorry that you have been suffering and I will pray that your burden will lighten. God bless you.

The daily struggles of life are in many ways our first pangs of suffering… attempt to see how dealing patiently with sorrows, setbacks, frustrations, and disappointments, are our little crosses. God had called us to become His children, and He is the perfect Father. He will not give us burdens impossible to bear, and he will love us and be patient with our failing and stumblings… provide WE in turn become patient and understanding with the failings and stumbling of others around us.
We obtain mercy to the extent that we become merciful, generous to the extent that we become thankful, and children of God to the extent that we see others as God’s children.

Everyone suffers regardless of whether they’re a saint or not. Don’t sell yourself short. Perhaps the problem is your understanding of what it means to be a saint. A saint is one who is sanctified. Something sanctified is something that has been ‘set apart’. If you believe in Christ as Savior then you have been (past tense) set apart. If you’re set apart you are a saint, whether you believe it or not. Whether you accept it or not. You have been given the indwelling presence of the Holy Spirit of God. You have been raised to new life. You have been born again. Christ died for the sins of the whole world. Now, that there is no sin left unforgiven, there is no sin that can cause that Holy Spirit to depart ever again. God bless and embrace your sainthood.

This reminds me of a scripture passage I will copy and paste from the Douay-Rheims translation. I think your video and the quote you mentioned reminded me of it given the subject matter of choice and what we face on a day to day basis. We choose our own will or God’s. I choose my own far too often but this scripture reminds us we can always turn back and get back on track
Matthew 21: 28 But what think you? A certain man had two sons: and coming to the first, he said: Son, go work to day in my vineyard. 29 And he answering, said: I will not. But afterwards, being moved with repentance, he went. 30 And coming to the other, he said in like manner. And he answering said: I go, Sir. And he went not. 31 Which of the two did the father's will? They say to him: The first. Jesus saith to them: Amen I say to you that the publicans and the harlots shall go into the kingdom of God before you. 32 For John came to you in the way of justice: and you did not believe him. But the publicans and the harlots believed him: but you, seeing it, did not even afterwards repent, that you might believe him.

Agreed Father, that God's work is what finally makes us saints, but while praying it is my mind that's distracted, and I want to share with people who would read my comment that asking St. Joseph to guard my thoughts (even while I'm praying) helps me get right back in. We need the help of our Saint friends to become saints too! They're rooting for us all the time up in heaven. Thanks so much for all the good you're doing! ❤️ In Christ.

Amen amen. Men which I am one are competitive by nature feel at times like it’s a game they’ll never win- winning equals perfection? Think one good thing to consider is a new push towards confession. Need greater teaching outreach on this important sacrament imho.

Lord, You are all powerful, make me, and my children, holy. May my every word, thought and deed today be part of Your Holy, providential plan.

Fr. Mike, did you make this video for me, specifically, today? Because it sure seems like it. Hits at the perfect time.
