      No kidding. Ignoring the security concerns, not all wifi connections are created equal, and even good wifi can be disrupted by environmental factors, let alone bad wifi. If there isn't at least an option for offline local Bluetooth or RF connection to use when wifi isn't available, or even better, if that's not the default option with wifi connectivity for cloud syncing being the secondary option, then I'm going to have to think long and hard about what the tech is promising to do versus what it can deliver and/or what the developers are doing without our knowledge.

    Electrolytic plating line operator here, our company manufactured a lot of these PCBs. I remember plating loads of them. First runs we sent out had various solder mask colours, noting which revision of prototype they were. I think it was white first, then black, then red & some blue. We even had to tell them that what they were asking for wasn't achievable with their design of the PCBs the way they were...whole thing was a farce, the company got all the money back through insurance...

  • @BewareTheLilyOfTheValley
    @BewareTheLilyOfTheValley 2 года назад +62

    Their "good intentions" are equally bullshit when the two creators bought BMW's before they had a functioning product and stole attention away from actual functioning products (seriously, people, you'd rather throw money at a product that hasn't even been seen functioning at the one event meant to show off tech goods, just because of what the creators CLAIM it can do, rather than actual, functioning drones at CES? 🤦🏾‍♀️).
    To the ones who bought the shambles of Zano and actually had a functioning product from the start, you go, guys! It's the perfect middle finger. I wouldn't even do anything with the Zano name, except to maybe put it on blast of its utter failure. But having the name keeps it from being able to be used again, which means having to rebrand if they want to run another scam.

    • @Skunkgasm
      @Skunkgasm 3 месяца назад

      Yeah I get he said it sounds like the Extreme Flyers team gave Zano the middle finger by buying their share at the end and making working drones with lower specs that were more based in reality of what could be accomplished in such a small package but them losing that event that year to something that was just making promises was a much bigger middle finger. Especially when they had the technical knowhow to understand that what they were promising was most likely bullshit for what was possible vs gravity with a flying gadget.
      That would have been such a huge boost for their company to win that year but it's hard to tell what else was at the expo too. They could have still lost to something else I mean it isn't like it was said they got 2nd place but winning would've been so much good publicity for a company that understood how flying things worked.

If they would have started with a simpler but decent model just to make sure their programming and design was viable then they would have had both the capital and experience to move on to their more complex designs with less stress. Well, the original footage was blatantly faked, proving they never had a working prototype, which is required when you open a technology project on Kickstarter. So regardless of the company's intentions, it absolutely was a scam, they lied that they could do something they were just hoping they'd someday figure out. They didn't intend to steal people's money, sure, but they went into it unable to fulfill the promises they were making and just crossing their fingers and hoping with the money they'd get it done so no one would figure it out. This is one of those cases where intention really isn't as important as what they did, and they DID lie about what they had and could do.

    I always love the excuses companies give for the problems with their product to attempt at a positive pr comment. If the reasons for not flying the drone at the show being military related then why is it even being shown to the average consumer to be sold? Don't military tech usually get shown to the government officials in charge of military contracts only? Honestly asking.
    And I love how EF got the last laugh. EF might actually use the failed Zano drone campaign as a marketing stunt to reclaim their losses. If they're smart they would fix the drones and give the working drones to the original backers of the Zano campaign. Shows good faith on their end. It also shows EF knows how to market a successful working project multiple times as a company looking to grow. This way when the drones end up on the market they can get positive reviews by people like the news media saying the company is legitimate and is all about the customer. Then people are more likely to purchase the working product.

    Horribly sad story.
    This always seems to happen… I mean :
    ⚫️ People with the best of intentions & fully formed product get way, WAY overfunded & then… suddenly :
    ▪️ They think they have unlimited financial backing, so start spending money on shit that is ABSOLUTELY NOT RELATED to the product!
    ▪️ They decide : “hey, we have so much extra funding let’s add a bunch of cool extras”
    ▪️ *SADLY HOWEVER* - “COOL EXTRAS” might as well mean ; scrap the working prototype we have, and build (basically) an entirely new product!!!
    ▪️ They start by telling what may be (they definitely perceive it as such anyway) “little white lies”
    ▪️ Then fake updates
    ▪️ Then they start slipping, sliding, and falling off the wagon !!
    ▪️ Suddenly lies are the least of their faux pa’s and worries!!
    ▪️ Now, what were once friends, team mates, partners, etc. … now they are stressed out almost adversaries or enemies !¡!
    ▪️ Some want to batten down the hatches and fix/righten the ship, and some give up; creating… *your guessed it*
    ▪️. *MORE TENSION & MORE DRAMA*
    ⚫️ Finally the whole thing implodes and no one sees it until it explodes !¡!
    ⚫️ The moral of this (constantly appearing kickstarted) story is this :
    ⚫️ If you get way more funding then you could have imagined , then just DELIVER the F’ing product that got funded !¡!
    ⚫️ Deliver *ONLY* what You signed up for! Successfully fulfill your obligations, *AND THEN* worry about the extra (if any money) , or better yet *USE* it to further push/grow & advertise what you *ORIGINALLY* set out to create !!!
    ▪️ Maybe even come up with a 2.0 *AFTER* you deliver on your product, and funnel money into that … & finally :
    🖤⚫️⬛️◼️◾️▪️➖ *PAY YOUR F’ING TAXES* ➖▪️◾️◼️⬛️⚫️🖤

    Don't people say the road to hell is paved with good intentions? Or maybe is a mistranslation, but seriously even though people make projects with all their good intentions, even though it's because of lack of experience or mistake, not delivering on your promises to your investors is equally scammy, especially if you suddenly appear one day driving a new beemer without even have sold a single unit of your promised products

      When finances kept them from completing things and conducting more R&D, they didn't sell back the fancy BMW's though, now did they? That's what you buy AFTER your product is a success and everyone is happy. I can't trust the claims of "We did everything we could to save the project!" when that's what they spent the backers money on.

    There is actually a legitimate reason why they couldn't demonstrate it flying. It is strictly prohibited to fly any unmanned vehicle near other people in public. You need a license to do that. That being said, they're still full of garbage.

    12:22-12:31 EPILEPSY AND PHOTOSENSITIVITY WARNING!
    Why can't creators understand that flashing lights, especially flashing red/blue lights, can either be dangerous for some people due to seizures, or otherwise cause some of us physical pain? Just don't use rapidly flashing lights.

    • @Dargonhuman
      @Dargonhuman 2 года назад +10

      Because epilepsy, despite being the fourth most common neurological diseases, only affects 50 million people globally, which is roughly about 1% of the entire population, and with proper diagnosis and treatment, 70% of those affected people can live seizure free. More people will die from watching the video while driving a car than from a seizure induced by 9 seconds of police lights, which are an incredibly common sight in many visual mediums as well as real life and are specifically programmed outside of the 10-20hz threshold that trigger most epileptic episodes - nearly every emergency vehicle that uses flashing lights operate at 5 or less hz with brief breaks in the patterns to reduce the risk of epileptic seizures.
      I learned all of this in ten minutes with Google. Maybe next time you can do the same thing instead of being an alarmist?

    Still surprised people are still willing to throw money to people on GoFundMe indiegogo and Kickstarter..
    Even with all the massive evidence of con artists kind of ruling the give me money and I'll make this scenario.
    And yet nobody's learned a lesson..
    Don't give money to people who don't have a product to produce..
    An actual evidence of that product working.
    Pretty much should be a given..

    • @BewareTheLilyOfTheValley
      @BewareTheLilyOfTheValley 2 года назад

      This time, it really seemed there was a functioning product, but the item not working at the convention should've been where the alarm bells were really ringing. I don't think I've ever heard of a product that didn't or barely worked at something like CES went on to do massively well afterwards. Usually flops at conventions are a sign that the item is truly a dud.

    • @memyopinionsche6610

      Yeah still they have a function product that fell flat..
      Almost like every other Kickstarter in the Go-Go or GoFundMe products..
      Great idea that never achieved that hype..
      Without the fact checking behind this drone..
      With people still give the money?
      I would think consumers beware there's always someone or people willing to take your money without any question..
      Because you're going to give them because why not..
      Without question..
      That's definitely con artist territory.
