Nice film, takes me back to teenage holidays on Bute 1962 to 1967, the full fleet was still in service before the big shutdown about 1972. Nice link between the Waverley in CSPC, (British Railways) service, and again in preservation. She's still running, but always strapped for cash! (Hint!)

So wish I had a camera in the early sixties when I sailed on PS Caledonia out of Ayr. Duchess of Hamilton replaced her sometimes after she moved upfirth. Waverley now visits Ayr . Now back in her LNER colours she is a fine sight.

Is the Paddle steamer, one of those that used to operate from Cardiff to Western-Super- Mare? I had fond memories of crossing the Bristol Channel on those majestic vessels.

No, The Waverley was built for the LNER in 1947 as one of the year round ferries on the Firth of Clyde, but most paddle steamers were of a similar basic design, possibly the Waverley is slightly larger because she was designed for year round public transport.

@@andrewhamilton6251 Thanks for the info, I heard, a long time ago, that the ferries that cross the Bristol Channel were discontinued and moved to the Clyde.
