Waverley2023 HD 1080p

The 27th of August was the last sailing of Waverley's summer season on the Clyde. She's down in London and the south east at the moment and will be back for a couple of days at the end of October.
Having contributed to the 2022 dry dock appeal I got a tour of the boiler room and the bridge. The boilers were replaced in 2020.
Waverley burns 700 litres of oil per hour (around £500). The sailing to the south coast takes 40 hours.

I was on that sailing, on 27th August. It brought back so many memories of childhood holidays at Kilcreggan and the steamer trips we used to take, in the 1960s. There were 3 paddle steamers then, Waverley, Jeanie Deans (superficially her sister ship, though much older), plus Caledonia, a single funnel steamer that I never sailed on. Waverley's a lovely ship. It's wonderful to see her in such good condition and performing so well, at her advanced age.

Waverley being blessed with good weather on the South Coast. Cross fingers for the same to bring her back up for October final sailings!
