    In fact, clearing RAM Cache will slow perofrmance for a while. Your PC will lose the benefit of having frequently accessed data readily available in memory. This can lead to temporary performance issues until the cache is rebuilt. If you want to clear it, just restart your PC.

      Also cached memory is actually freely available for allocation at any time. Clearing cached RAM serves no good purpose unless the cached memory somehow is corrupted.

    In conclusion what you should have mentioned for these poor people, while there are situations where clearing the RAM cache can be helpful, it's not a routine maintenance task for most users. Modern operating systems are quite adept at managing memory, and manual intervention is usually unnecessary. If you're experiencing performance issues, it's often better to identify and address the root cause rather than resorting to manual cache clearing as a default solution.

    Windows RAM memory management seems very misunderstood here.
    Windows RAM cache (of disk data) is a performance benefit, not a bottleneck. RAM cache data is of lowest priority to Windows and will be immediately discarded (piece by piece if necessary) as processes demand more RAM. Deleting the RAM cache will only result in more (and slower) disk input/output. Ram cache is Windows way of utilizing otherwise unused RAM to hold recently accessed disk data to speed up access. Otherwise the unused RAM is essentially wasted.

    • @chefmike8888
      @chefmike8888 9 месяцев назад

      I learned that installing ‘fix-it’ software to speed up a computer is not the answer. Throwing more crap is the problem. REMOVING the crap and learn what the system tools are there for. Hence turning off the computer holds all the junk in the ram. Doing a restart will flush out the useless while retaining the memory of the programs you use. And its right there on top of the option to shut down.
      While doing sound i was under the thought that EQ boosts low frequencies.. true. But the way to make it sound good is subtractive EQ. Always cut even if it means lowering all till the one thats missing is auditable. Same with PC. Cut the trash and you will have more room to move about.

If your C: drive is an SSD or NVMe drive the difference in start times is just a few seconds. Basically what Fast Boot does is set your computer to Hibernate mode which is actually an old laptop thing from back when everything was 2 cores and everyone used a slow 3500 RPM hard drive that uses less power than a 5000 RPM hard drive but was slower. Ram Cache is faster than ssd and hdd. Clearing the ram cache is a bad idea. This will slow down the read data. If you don't have enough ram, you actually have 2 options: either install a lite version of Windows, which consumes less memory, or buy additional memory, which is not so expensive now.

    Sorry to burst your bubble, but flushing or clearing "RAM cache" is not boosting performance. Stop thinking of RAM space like disk space. Modern memory management in Windows is designed to utilize RAM. When its time to free up RAM for more demanding processes, the Windows memory manager will flush out older, less used pages of memory. By manually flushing, you are removing otherwise frequently used pages of memory from RAM (fast) and forcing the OS to go back to disk (slow) to fetch that information. If I buy 32GB of RAM and only use 16GB, then then I'm not getting my full investment. Put your trust in the Windows memory manager: MS really wants to speed the OS experience as much as possible to keep you paying for Windows. There is a saying in the Windows pro circles, "unused memory is wasted memory".

    I found this video while looking for something else, why would you do this? Cache speeds up your system and any unused ram is wasted. People commenting as if cache is causing them to run out of memory. That's not how it works, cache is overwritten if the system needs more ram. My cache is sitting at 81.1GB because I manually put files there so it loads from ram instead of the disk. If my system needs that 81GB it will just push the cache out and take it.

      @@unawaredeath2740 Lets say you have 28GB of ram available. You open an app that needs 2GB. Your OS will allocate 2GB so now you have 26GB of ram available. You close the app, but the system caches it so that it will load from ram next time instead of your disk. So you have 2GB of cache, but you're still back to 28GB of ram available. Cache will automatically be overwritten if the system needs that ram.
      A neat thing to do is manually cache files. For example I can put all of Cyberpunk 2077 into cache memory, then the game will read from ram instead of the disk making it load much faster. I currently have 81.1GB of cache sitting in my ram, but I still have 116GB available.

    Clearing the Ram Memory Cache actually SLOWS your Computer down. After you 'clear' and look at the file, size is smaller. But as soon as you continue to work on your computer, the Cache immediately starts to fill up. This Data is used to quickly load from Cache Memory rather than from an Application or Web Browser.
    Caching (often referred to as memory caching) is a technique in which computer applications temporarily store data in a computer's main memory (i.e., random access memory, or RAM) to enable fast retrievals of that data. The RAM that is used for the temporary storage is known as the cache.
    This app is a waste of time.

    I understand how RAM cache memory works, but I wanted to see if my GPU's nvlddmkm error might somehow be related to it. This display error seems tied to my GPU hardware (I’ve tested it on another PC and even formatted my Windows). My GPU, a 1650 Super, can run for 3 days or more after reinstalling the GPU or adjusting the RAM sticks, like adding, removing, or swapping their placements. However, if left unchanged, the error returns-sometimes after 30 minutes, even if I restart the system.
    I’m starting to suspect that the issue could be with the GPU’s VRAM, maybe defective, and possibly related to RAM cache memory. Since the GPU is out of warranty and repairs can be expensive, I’m looking for some insight.
    I just wanted to share this in case anyone else is wondering about these kinds of issues, and I’d really appreciate any advice on solving my PC problem. any tricks or any method which my gpu can hold on little longer.

    For some of you out there struggling for performance, you can add extended RAM in the settings but depending on how GBs of RAM you have on board. Do some calculations or search in google ;)
    note that this didn't work like a real RAM.

  • @YDV669
    @YDV669 11 месяцев назад +3

    But what's the point? The RAM Cache stores things that have been accessed before to speed up subsequent accesses, saving doing an immediate IO to the HDD or the SSD. Operating systems will reduce the amount of memory consumed by the Cache as demand grows. Clearing the Cache will immediately slow down your computer because it'll need to do physical IO to retrieve what had already been cached before. It's why the computer acts a bit sluggish after a reboot, because the Cache isn't populated yet. I mean, maybe there's a use case for this if you're starting a memory hog application like a game, but otherwise leave it alone. Chances are, the OS knows how to manage it better than you do.

    This is a joke, right? RIGHT!?
    Cache is used for a reason, especially Ram cache.
    Clearing this makes your computer generate it again when needed, instead of using the cache, what will hurt your performance.
    Ram that isn't used for cache is actually wasted Ram.
