@@Gearoidmcnaught I finally saw It's a Mad Mad Mad Mad World and that movie was non-stop hilarious, which is impressive considering how long it is. Now that I finally see both Mad World and Rat Race, I can't really compare the two since they are both so different. The only thing they have in common is the use of the biggest comedic actors of their time. It's a Mad, Mad, Mad, Mad World is a timeless classic while Rat Race is severely underrated. For me, instead of pitting both movies, I treat them in the same pedestal as some of the funniest movies ever made.
No joke. I seriously considered making "I can do anything I like. I'm eccentric" my yearbook quote for my senior year of high school... To this day I regret not doing that.
Even though... we almost had no back story as to why he was after the money........ he's just one of those characters you root for, just... because. :)
One of the best comedies ever. So many incredible scenes. It released just weeks before 9/11 and so it never got the attention it so deserved. But boy it still holds up today as one of the best.
The scene in which the brothers end up hanging the Jeep on the airport radar, the downward trail by the squirrel lady and the delivery of the heart for a transplant are my favorites, Love this movie !!! 😂😂😂😂😂
"Theoretically, you have been racing for about 40 seconds, and so far, Mr. Schaffer is winning because he's NEAREST TO THE DOOR!" That line actually does come about 40 seconds after he says "Go!"
Movie continuity that is surprisingly well done in a comedy movie that could easily have not been so accurate with that and brush it off as "oh well, comedy show!"
“I can do whatever I want, I’m eccentric.” I totally gotta use that when some jerk tries to tell me what I can and can’t do. I’m not referring to anything illegal of course.
When he got out the gun and fired off a round in the ceiling no doubt. I was like "Run! He's got a gun!" but I did laugh when he made that face and funny sound after he admitted he's eccentric.
I'm sorry I know John tried to escape his roots, but this feels scene feels so much like a Monty Python sketch. As such it was one of my favorite scenes in the movie!
You know there was some other movies that all of these actors did before this movie came out for example: John Cleese and Jon Lovitz = An American Tail: Fievel Goes West, Whoopi Goldberg and Kathy Najimy = Sister Act and Sister Act 2: Back in the Habit, Whoopi Goldberg and Rowan Atkinson = The Lion King, Seth Green and Breckin Meyer = Can't Hardly Wait and Josie and the Pussycats and Breckin Meyer and Amy Smart = Road Trip.
Excuse me. Thank you all for coming. I'm Donald Sinclair, I own this hotel. We don't have much time. There's a meteor the size of North Carolina heading straight for Earth. The impact is going to kill every thing and everyone on this planet. I built a bunker in the basement to this casino strong enough to withstand the blast. There's room enough for eight people. I have chosen the seven of you, plus me. When this is over, it'll be up to us to repopulate and re-civilize the planet.
Can please someone recommending to me similar hilarious road trip comedies like this? They are so fun. I just watched Cannonball run, Road Trip, Midnight Run, Smokey and The bandits, Planes trains and Automobiles, Due date, National lampoon's vacation but I just need more and more of this, I love this genre of comedy
This one movie has: Mr. Bean, Chris Griffin, Jared Franklin, Clark Kent, Newman, Gloria Allred, Sister Deloris, Hanukkah Harry, Peggy Hill, and 1/5 of Monty Python. Not to mention Smash Mouth.
Also, at the time of this movie, Whoopi Goldberg was the center square on Hollywood Squares hosted by Tom Bergeron since 1998 until she left the show the following year after this movie was released.
If someone told me I had to race a bunch of random strangers for two million dollars, I wouldn't just sit there after the go command like an idiot, I'd be like “See ya suckers!!!” I'd even try to lock them in the room so I get there first once they all realize what their doing. (Say what you will about me, but I would LOVE to have that much money).
"So far Mr. Schafer is winning because he's nearest to the door!" That line still kills me
Haha same here. It's such a "John Cleese" line 😂
And the way Polini cranes his head to get a better view, lmfao
Hahahaha omg
Me too. And Enrico’s reaction. 😂😂😂😂
It's not that damn funny, relax.

One of the greatest comedy movies ever!
And one of the most underrated.
Yes definitely but before Rat Race there was "It's a Mad, Mad, Mad, Mad World"

@@StealthMaster86 Well I'm glad you enjoy it and I think both movies are both good compared to each other.
Don't make these anymore
Rat race has 44% on rotten tomatoes, I always seem to enjoy the lower rating movies than the higher rated movies.
If you enjoyed Rat Race, which I did, try Mad Mad Mad Mad World
the only movies that get actual good ratings anymore are movies that are complete head-fucks
ysmbl I'm probably going to agree with you but what do you mean by head fucks
+Joe Dickinson Maybe very complicated storylines?
PR1NCE DARKNESS low standards
I don't care what ratings or anyone else says, I loved this movie growing up. and I still do.
“So far, Mr. Schafer’s winning because he’s nearest to the door!”
Pfft.😂😂😂
Love even more how Rowan looks over at the door still not fully understanding it XD

Wow what a wild man.
0:46 - I love Cuba's face expression when John says ''two million dollars''
when you have Mr Bean and Basil Fawlty in one movie, u know its gonna be beyond hilarious LOL

It's my favourite part of the scene lol, he hasn't got the time for nonsense 😅
John Cleese has some of the best facial expressions in the world. 1:01 is a classic
Yeah, his high rolling character is hilarious; the big dentures brings it out too. And his laughter later in the film...
I just love when he pulls out a gun it makes me laugh hard
Me too, something about how nonchalantly he just pulls it out and then they all freak out and duck for cover. hilarious
Ready set go
The way Vince Vieluf screams first is hilarious

Technically he won in my opinion, because he made it to the train station first

“And so far Mr Shaffeur is winning because he’s nearest to the door!”
