For those who want to immediately jump in and defend AutoCAD please keep in mind I started out with AutoCAD for 3D work over 15 years ago, I stopped doing all 3D modeling for 10 years, and then took up SolidWorks. After watching this video I am sure I will stay with SolidWorks for 3D modeling. I find the moving of the XYZ coordinate tedious and a bit confusing. I believe this same part could have been drawn in 1/3 of the time with SW. I do not remember AutoCAD being so clunky in 3D modeling. With that statement, I would like to see two well-trained individuals draw this same part one in AutoCAD and the other using SolidWorks. It would be very interesting to see who could finish first and by how much.
Where does the base plate thickness of 14 come from? There is no such data on the drawing. And the 36? The child crying in the background is especially good.
Good video but...theres a difference between a 3D model and an Isometric drawing. Theres no such thing as a 3D drawing in the CAD world. What you drew was a 3D model. Can we please see the Isometric drawing with dimensions and please show the hidden lines.
Greetings from Greece! I don't know if you're still checking the comments but I have a question. Did you use further instructions? For example why is the height 14 on 7:05 or y=36 9:30? Have you calculated it somehow? Thank you anyway. Nice video.
Hello there, I have a question. How do you know that you should pull 2D geometry at the height of 14 units, when converting to 3D at 7:08?This height is not specified at the projection map, and one cannot simply calculate from other dimensions, or am I missing something?
I’ve been looking at the drawings trying to find out what combination of given measurements work to 14 units. The only thing I can think of (having never used cad) is the radius is given for the circle 14. That radius ‘looks’ the same length as the height of the base at 14 units. I would like an actual answer though and not me just eye balling it lol.
I think you missed to mark the height of one of the rectangles on the drawing. It's 36 according to the video. Just saying to help those who want to model the part by themselves based on the drawing only.
That's right there is so many missing mark base on the image.. i think it will need a clear discussion base on the image.. but i appreciate the video...
can you make a video on how to shift the UCS? I was having a lot trouble to get my xyz plan in the right position. Thank you very much. You are doing a great job teaching us. Thank you again.
Nice Tutorial. As Student for automotive engineering I´m working with Catia. In Comparison with this Tutorial for AutoCAD I must say modelling mechanical components seems to be definitely easier and faster with Catia...
Thank you for this video, I bought a 3D printer and just started learning how to work with CAD. Following this tutorial was extremely fun and gave me a first step feeling to join the CAD world!!
99/00 was sotNice tutorialng called Vision DSP or DST or sotNice tutorialng and didn't quite work the way soft soft does, but tNice tutorials video helped so
man... the last part is totally wrong... how can instructor of AutoCAD make such a mistake.... presspull on the right side by 12, not 6 left and right, it's not in the center look at the 2D drawing on begining
haha thats what i think too, all CAD programs do basically the same job, but some are so stupidly made and so complicated to use, for no reason. But autocad seems like a pretty good program, compared to some free CAD programs i tried lol.
What You Clicked at @08:43 Between Geometry to Hotspot Youcube i m not Able to Click on Front Side of Hotspot of Youcube , i Also fond Your Cursor Become an Arrow When You re About to Click on Front , How ? Help me Please
Why is my view not like yours! I'm just starting but im dumping this one as crap! I do it exactly like you and my view do not match, its always fucked up usc! I would like to tell others go elsewhere!
You were going way to fast and i got stuck on the whole origin thing at around 14 minutes. I just could not get that to work out and i would try to follow your directions but it wasn’t lining up correctly..
Great video. 22 minutes almost turned into two hours but it was worth it. I got everything right except that last part. When I extruded there was no face. Im guessing my lines didnt intersect properly... :-/
Hii SourceCAD, Can you tell me how to create 3d using (i am using autocad2014) on 2d planes 3 views mode ? is there such a feature in autocad that allow use to create 3 2d drawing to form a 3d view ? for example, i am drawing on plan view, front view and side view, and i links every part of the item in all 3 views together (telling autocad this line of plan view is actually that line on front view.... so on ) , then autocad will generate a 3d model of the 3 views assembled item. is that possible by autocad2014 ? thanks. andrew
Theres so many of them that only use walls.. they think if they still get the kill themselves its not really cheating, their just giving themselves the edge is all..
For some reason I cannot figure out, on the very last two steps. Where you extrude the strange shape 6 units in either direction. I extrude it, however it only gives me that shape, i.e. a hollow outline if you would. So rather than that nice solid extrude I get an extended outline. Any advice?
thnaks for such a wonderful lecture...I learn most from this ...but a question is there . I am using Autocad 2013 and I am not getting Origin option in coordinate toolbar...where i an find this....please answer
I am having trouble following because when you say a negative number I have to use a positive number to move an object in the same direction. am I set improperly?
The positive or negative number depends on the direction of UCS so if it is woking with a positive number in your case then you can use a positive number instead of negative.
+Chirag Jakatdar i am really sorry Chirag but I cant help you with Pro-e related questions as I have not used it. You can ask anything related to AutoCAD and I will be glad to help you.
When I did the presspull command @ 11:33 of the vid, I had to just enter 75 units, rather than -75. It seems as though the direction I run the cursor represents the positive direction regardless of which direction the Z axis is. (I hope I worded that in a way that makes sense). I'm using Autocad 2017 so I'm wondering whether that's something that's changed for Autocad 2017 or if one of my settings is different than yours? Thanks.
Old comment but for anyone who encounters it this was also the case for me using AutoCAD 2021. I was also thinking it could be a difference in settings.
Making a heat exchanger will require me to produce a long video possibly of an hour or long and it may not be possible to share it on SourceCAD as video length on this channel are relatively short ranging from few minutes to upto 20 min max.
i dont understand which autocad software version you are using, there is no autocad 3d on autocads website, there is inventor civil and some other which by no means are close to what you say in your title.

How did u take the height of the rectangle to be 36mm....can u explain?? Plz
it is a good tutorial mr.
when you put a rectangle as @-56,36. My question is how did you put 36 for rectangle height ????
what's the name of this mechanical component PLZZ ?? , I want to search how I can draw it by CATIA V5

Yes Adam it was not mentioned in the drawing, thanks for informing others.
Thanks for the info
👍
thnks for the info brthr
That's right there is so many missing mark base on the image.. i think it will need a clear discussion base on the image.. but i appreciate the video...
I learned AutoCAD in 2 hours with you videos. everything is explained clear, I think you are the best online tutor I've aver came across
I don't understand why I can't make the last element. It's only extruding the border, without internal surface. PS. great tutorial. Cheers!
By seeing this, I can say that AutoCAD is complicated compare to SolidWorks. As it's not a 3D work friendly like SW.
can you make a video on how to shift the UCS? I was having a lot trouble to get my xyz plan in the right position. Thank you very much. You are doing a great job teaching us. Thank you again.
when im extruding a the last part it extrude at -6 but when i presspull its not working .
Hi bro I need a diagram name of 3d practice drawing please let soon

PC but I'm going to start using Mac very soon and making tutorials on how to use soft soft on Mac effectively
@9:36 how do u make the rectangle for 56,36 from where do you get the value of height 36?? plz explain me
Thank you for this video, I bought a 3D printer and just started learning how to work with CAD.
Following this tutorial was extremely fun and gave me a first step feeling to join the CAD world!!
GOOD EXPLANATION
That's great but you should explain 2D drawing more precisely before you drawing in CAD software so learner understand very well.

AutoCAD 3d is the most tragic thing. It took 22 mins to draw this simple thing. Would take 2 mins in Sketchup.
haha thats what i think too, all CAD programs do basically the same job, but some are so stupidly made and so complicated to use, for no reason.
But autocad seems like a pretty good program, compared to some free CAD programs i tried lol.

Why is it that when you extrude the final geometrical part, it automatically fills? Mine only extrudes without filling the gap between the lines
the extrude part at 21.50....please

I have question: Once you done with drawings, if we check edge of the last object, it is clearly that has some spaces between them.
sorry but at time of 7:55 you made that thing which I cant explain here ............
TNice tutorials is pretty much a modern day Fairlight CMI.

it's amazing tutorial..thanks to sharing sir..many many thanks again
Good Tutorial but too much to click. You can also teach the shortcuts to make the life easier. but anyway keep it up.
how many days AutoCAD takes to learn completely ............
Sir please give the 3d model at one side of screen...we are just following you ...that is not enough to understand
You were going way to fast and i got stuck on the whole origin thing at around 14 minutes. I just could not get that to work out and i would try to follow your directions but it wasn’t lining up correctly..
Easy to follow until the very end, however your last steps seem to bring up some problems.
Thanks again SourceCAD! The USC and view commands in 3D are some of the most confusing. You make it much simpler with your tutorial.
which is the best app to download for auto cad engineering drawing
Sir what means unit? It is in meter? Sir sorry for this I'm beginner thanks and more power.

i found on this video its hard to replace the origin do you have video execute a origin replace
It's not really that confusing it just looks like that, because of all the many buttons.
i really apreciate your help with dowloanding this software

When extrude at last point the polyline become hollow what can i do now ??

i suggest that you explain the dimensions from the drawing while you draft in Autocad, otherwise it's perfect.
thnaks for such a wonderful lecture...I learn most from this ...but a question is there . I am using Autocad 2013 and I am not getting Origin option in coordinate toolbar...where i an find this....please answer
Welcome Omkar, if you are not able to find the origin tool on palette then use its command equivalent UCS.

Hi friends I need a job in AutoCAD please help me
DO anyone know the version of this autocad ?

The positive or negative number depends on the direction of UCS so if it is woking with a positive number in your case then you can use a positive number instead of negative.
how did you calculated the height (14 units) when u used presspull command first tym?
is it the missing data in the drawing or is there any way to calculate?
