If you would have told me 6 years ago I would own cocker spaniels, as a groomer, I would have have thought you lost your mind. Now I can't get enough of them 😋
We have a 1 1/2 year old american cockerspaniel that we rescued. She really hates getting brushed, especially her legs, and her pits, I'm learning how to hold her skin so that it's not so sensitive for her. so far we have found one of the dematting/deshedding combs that has the hooks at the end to be the easiest, but what is the best thing to use? The wirey brushes she hates. We take her to the beach a lot so I know we need to comb her regularly, but I want it to be a pleasant experience for her.
Can I ask, where is the tube connected, that you are making it into a wee hot tub? I know it helps to push the shampoo or conditioner threw that thick coat. I would like to know what tool/machine is it please. I am from Ireland but maybe I can find something similar.
O.M.G! I wish you were in Houston TEXAS!!! I need your hands on my ACS, I want her jacket to look just like this! right now it's all fuzzy and no one here does hand stripping :( I love your video, keep it up!
Oh I'm so sorry to hear you can't find a groomer! I wish I could direct you to a houston groomer who strips, but I can't think of anyone who does that in the houston area. If someone pops up, I'll be sure to share with you. For now, grab yourself a rake and rake through that back coat. It will give you a head start and bulk down some of the fuzziness.
I’m sorry I just don’t understand why they can’t just shave the dog down the back I have two cocker spaniels and I like mine done that way I know it’s not the professional show dog way but it just seems like Takes a long time to take the blade down the back over and over and over and I feel sorry for the poor dogs back being sore after you’re done
Shaving the back would end up causing a different texture which would make the coat unsuitable to work for hunting/retrieving, which is what they were bred for. That nice texture protects the dogs skin. Having texture vs a soft coat also helps repel environmental hazards from collecting and making the dog stink or collecting germs that cause skin infections. It doesn't hurt, what I'm doing is pulling out the dead hair that has reached the end of it's life cycle. This lowers the shedding, improves skin exfoliation, as well as spread their natural oils throughout their body to help keep a healthy skin and coat. It is faster to just clip a coat and is done for most pet cockers. But since she is a show gal, and the household enjoys the health benefits that come with it, she will be stripped for some time yet. She will let us know when it's time to start clipping the coat. A dog's health is always our #1 concern.
@@Dognormousllc I've seen your videos and another groomer for show dogs, and I am just learning about the coat stripping, and not shaving the back like my other cockers were done, I didn't know it protected their skin to do it "right". I have a new cocker pup coming into my life in a couple weeks. I just found a new recommended groomer...are there interview questions I should ask them or any other groomer before I take my girl to them? I want that show dog look...with full skirt, etc. I have, in the past, left the skirt but in the summers had them shave her belly (my former girl) to help cool that but her chest and skirt were there ....is that a good idea or bad?
what a beautiful cocker
Thank you! ♥️
Just too cute in the bubbly tub!!!
What a beautiful creature!!!! You did that cocker justice. Just breathtaking
Thank you very much! 💕
This cutie pie makes me fall in love with cockers. And as a groomer I have seen my share of cockers. Lol.

Of course she rolled in something - she said mom, THIS is how you roll a coat!
What soulful eyes! I'm in love. Thank you so much for making this video. I worked as a groomer but didn't get much cocker experience.
Your welcome and thank you for stopping by! She is my dog, so there will be plenty more cocker moments around here
Looks exactly like my Lily💕
Your Lily is absolutely beautiful 💖

This video just calmed me down. Love dogs!
Thank you! Dogs are amazing! Their spa days should be amazing too ❤️

What clippers do you use?
Do you prefer the Big G or Big K Chris Christensen brush for a cocker spaniel?
