Trying to manage how much you drink is quite hard work, because once you've had one, you change from someone who only wants one or two, to someone who wants five or six. Much easier to actually stop.
Agree, the way I see people cut down most successfully is just by binge drinking less often. Say from every weekend to a couple of times a year. I've done this but it actually just seems to keep leading me to wanting to quit entirely. After such large gaps between drinking you realise its not actually that fun and it's a drug where you need to consume harmful amounts to get the desired effects. I wasn't a blackout drinker at all either, just over indulged when I drank.
I wish I was the type who could moderate it and I’ve tried many times. But whatever plans and decisions I made, I always made them when I was sober. ‘I’ll just have a couple then I’ll stop’. But after I’ve got a couple of units flowing through my brain I’m a different person and those sober plans go out the window. I’ve stopped all together. It was the only way for me.
Yeah what was most telling for me was when his sober friend suggested "well why not just try giving up for a couple months and see what happens?" and he had a problem with that. That's something that I can do easily because it's just not an issue.
He came to the conclusion that most arrive at sooner or later: it's really not worth it. Maybe for a while it is and maybe it's fun and frivolity, but in the end, the story is the same.
I found when i was drinking to excess i was relly unhappy its all in the mind d make peace with your mind and keep occupied i think some people use drink as a pick me up and some people can walk out the pub and say im going do somthjng eles anyways all good luck
"When you get to the 5th, 6th, 7th drink, you're just creating problems, not enjoyment" sums it up pretty damn well
roy Keane, a big drinker in his day, also said that you are always chasing the same kick you get after a first drink.

over 100 units a week, always thought I drank too much, but rarely got over 50 units a week.

He’s funny and entertaining but I think he’s ready for a drink
The doctor told him he has liver fibrosis. That is very bad. Just hearing that would freak me out enough to stop drinking.
The doctor didn’t tell him that he probably had fatty liver very different
From what i remember the doc said mild to moderate fibrosis
Boring
