I not only learned so much about creating chord progressions but also so many useful tips and concepts along the way that I wasn’t expecting and have helped me tremendously. Thank you!!
Really great tutorial. I'm 56. I've been playing guitar and a little bit of keyboards 'by ear', since school days. For some reason I could never get into reading music. The new DAW age, especially Ableton is such a game changer. You can literally hear the music note for note as you write it. Pretty exciting stuff.
In the R&B section.the one you're referring to 9th chords & 11th chords are actually "add 9 chord" & "add 11 chord".so F major 9th=FACEG,F major 11th chord=FACEGB,F major add 9 chord=FACG & F major add 11 chord=FACB.The difference is that if you add something without maintaining a major third or minor third interval after a major or minor chord than that's an added note thus the name "add 9 or add 11 chord" on the other hand in 9th & 11th chords you will find major or minor interval maintained in each note of that specific chord
This is a really great video! 👍🏾How do you know which chords fit within a certain genre? Are there specific rules for formulating jazz, hip hop, pop, r&b etc. Can you mix 7th chords, sus chords, min9 with different keys or is there some kind of music theory rule that specifies which combinations work together/don't work together and which genre the chords belong in?
Could someone explain why he used the 2,1,2,2,1,2,2 method for deep house instead of using simple major/minor chords initially? Also, when is this method supposed to be used? Thanks, as a beginner, I've been having this confusion for a while.
I have a weird issue with FL Studio, doesn't let me drag the midi files for the RnB ones, I can only use the first and the last RnB midi files, I get this issue where it shows the "Which tracks to import?" menu but whatever I choose doesn't seem to help, it just stays blank. ANy way y'all can help ahah
My b, did those in FL studio and exported incorrectly. Here are the RnB files (plus Serum supersaw preset): drive.google.com/open?id=18OqKC-EhZH3AtPUUkR9yPbCwLBl7Xdrl
Ok. The part in the deep house mix, where you took all your notes of the page then did whatever and it made all your keystrokes become c....what? I like understand what you did but I cannot do it....yet....I'll figure something out. I'm using fl studio.
Good vid, really helpful. Maybe its been done already but a tutorial off the back of this one showing how to develop melodies and bass lines from the chords would be good.
Hi! In the Lo-Fi section when you do the second chord you put the root note in C#3 and not in D, If I is C how is C#3 ii and not D... I dont know if Im making any sense. Im just very confused about how you constructed the 2nd chord...
One question though.. Aren't the i, iv and v all supposed to be minor in the minor scale. I'm asking because of the trap section. Is that some sort of different scale? Is there a name for it?
Shawn Siya in the Natural minor scale (default minor): i (minor ) ii ° (diminished) III (Major) iv (minor) v (minor) VI (Major) VII (Major) In the trap section I did i iv V iv for the V chord I borrowed the G# to make it major to add more tension
The Reggaeton part is trash. It doesn't even sound Reggaeton. I make Reggaeton bro, I do not think you don't know about music production but when it comes to Reggaeton you are left behind.

Oh man! I love the kind of tutorial that I can understand everything! As a beginner to music theory, that's very encouraging! Thank you Splice!
I have been studying piano for a couple months now. And you are the first to explain it in a way I can understand. Omg. This has helped so much!!

Thank you so much for this!! I’m a beginner still trying to figure things out, so this helps a lot!! Def downloading the midi files soon! 🔥🙏🏽
Thnx! I love your tutorials!
Will you do a full track? So we can see how many chord variations & rhythm patterns you do for the same track.
I kept going around YT looking for ways to learn my way around music but now I know better, now I know to come here

This was really good...please make some more like this.
For me as a beginner you nail it with this chords progression. Many thanks.
I never thought of counting down before thanks for the gems 🥲

It was a comprehensive tutorial! I had to google a lot of new terms, hahah. Thanks!

Msf Sadib great distinction! Didn’t want to get too granular during the video but thanks for adding extra context!!

You taught me chord progression in like...4 mins...🙃😐 Said it in such a simple way
This is super helpful for music theory newbies like me!
Please also do- How to make melodies + leads with Chords
I really suck at everything to do with music theory so this video is really appreciated :D
Thank you sir !

ABDXL I have the same issue. The rest of the files are fine tho. Maybe there was a mistake when rendering those files.

Cool 👍

Excellent content. I do, however, have to point out an error. The last chord in the Progressive House progression is NOT a i chord in Am.
Okay, this is epic
Using more inversions chords and 7th, 9th and 13th.
where can I find a complete pack with all chords? I need to work fast. Do you know anything?
Nice!

The root note of the second chord is Db, not C#. The second chord is Dbm7, so it is a borrowed ii chord.
my guy is nice
Love you
To put a dislike without explanation is useless, i need to know what *could* be wrong from my beginner perspective.
🔥💯
Does the root key change with inversions?
Anyone know what the serum preset was for the future bass
It's a pretty simple supersaw with aggresive sidechaining to the kick. here is the preset: drive.google.com/open?id=18OqKC-EhZH3AtPUUkR9yPbCwLBl7Xdrl
@@nickthechen thanks brother

Shawn Siya in the Natural minor scale (default minor):
i (minor )
ii ° (diminished)

VI (Major)
VII (Major)
In the trap section I did

for the V chord I borrowed the G# to make it major to add more tension
@@nickthechen oh no my mistake.
the ii is diminished, meant the iv.
@@nickthechen oh great I see.
Thanks.🙌
I guess I should explore more and stop being confined to the scale.
Harmonic minor
@@marcellgentles6870 Great. Thanks for that, I've never been able to use it. Sounds weird for me lol, either that or I can't use it. Period.
Are those sony headphones?
Which software is it?
that 13 th chord literally scared my dog
I could tell it was helpful but I just couldn't follow it because my brain checks out when people start using numbers.
You will get it just learn what the numbers mean to the note , very important
But wait.. I bet you haven't listened to Unison midi pack. It's chords are reserved for top 1% producers.
Zip file is not opening
You can not start to create a song with a chord progression. Ends up in a sack way of frustration.
