This is space, not an Island somewhere on earth or a building on fire. Things should be seen in that light and therefor "stranded" has a slightly different meaning, than what is normal.
In this case, stranded does not mean they cannot just leave, when they want to, because where they are that is the norm!
In this case there is a way to come back! So, not stranded! In this case, stranded would mean they cannot come back ever, or as was the case originally, when Starliner gave problems, at that time they were stranded. Once the plan to bring them back was in place, they were no longer stranded!
So I disagree with you! They are not stranded!
There is a plan in place for them to come back down. It has been in place since Aug/Sept 2024 and was announced it a press conference! So, they are not stranded!

The mission lasts as long as NASA says it does. Those astronauts have been trained to do a 12 to 14 month emergency ISS mission. Nothing to see here. Move along.

The original Statliner test flight was minimum 1 week to maximum 3 months amd return on Starliner. Well, their mission was extended to another 6 to 7 months as part of crew 9. So, they will be in space for about 10 months when they return. Not quite the record 12 months, but close enough.
It needs to happen, obviously NASA cannot handle it
I think they need to look at the definition of stranded. They’re stranded until they’re not stranded anymore considering they’ve made it to there destination and have no way of getting there or going back which is “Stranded”

They are in the best place for their mission. Afterall, they are professionals. That is what they have trained all of their lives for. The medical research from monitoring their bodies will be invaluable here on Earth. It's like Kirk and the Enterprise. Let those people do what we tax payers are paying them to do.

This will be another Mandela effect when they return. I remember them returning and battling to walk / support themselves. I even called my father when they returned and said they made it back safely. We were all following the story after Elon said he could get them home, and he did. This was about 3/4 months ago.

Astronauts train for YEARS for their time on the ISS because every second is precious, and they need to know how to run all the experiments, do all the maintenance on station, they all practice the same tasks over and over and over. Butch and Sunni did not train for any of the ongoing projects up there so they are more than anything in the way, and they also did not train and build up their bodies for this length of a stay. If they aren't stranded, they would be down by now because they can't be productive up there, and that's a huge waste of time for a station that has only 4 or 5 years of available time for expirements left
