@@duck651 Update: Animals and children are the worst when you have a budding plant in the window. I had it for a couple weeks, picking it and the pile of dirt off the floor everytime it "fell" before I just threw it away. It was about 3 inches tall with a couple leaves.
Bravo!!!! Thanks for the tutorial! So far I'm reading, they need to be placed in the fridge for a few weeks in the wet nap and Ziploc. Obviously not the case here. I'm so excited to get started 😀 going to start with a nectarine today!
For some reason an article was telling me to put the seed (actually they didn't even mention prying the pit off) in the fridge for two months. But this method here seems much more appropriate lol.
That is the best description of everything that has existed on the world ever. Most things are basically simple but it is a rarity to find someone willing or able to explain it simply. Wow.
Hi, And thank you so much for this video, I can’t because I am an invalid but I am sure there is many hundreds who will start to grow their own tree because of you, thanks again.
Brilliant. I was looking for a clear and simple way of growing some nectarine stones that I have. This is just what I wanted. No nonsense, just to the point and informative.
I have cherries tree which i started from seeds. The trees prove me and the birds with a lot of cherries. It took 10 years for my first tree to give flowers, and about 11-12 years to actually give fruits. My tree is the Renier Cherrie tree. Very often, as the fruit mature and the birds eat the fruit, their seeds plant themselves and I keep having more cherries trees. The flowers are fantastic too! I never work a lot to start a seed, i just eat the fruit and let nature take over
Remember....Cherry tree's, apricot, necterines, most all fruit tree's, require more than 1 tree be planted near it, for some reason they don't bare fruit if they do not cross pollenate w/ each other.
A few people are asking about putting in fridge. You do this bc stone fruits, apples, pears etc need chilling hours, they need cold then warmth thats how they know how and when to break out of dormancy. I think really you only need to do this if you pick the fruit from your garden. If you buy from the store the fruit usually has been refrigerated for transport, this is the chilling hours. So from the store just go ahead and take the seeds and foolow method from video.

my pit is starting to form a whole new outer shell but no sprouting or routes yet ,do i leave this new shell cover on or maybe i should use i different H2O source, i am new at this.
This will definitely grow a tree, but there's no guarantee that it will be the same fruit as its parent tree because it might have been cross pollinated with another stone fruit if the grower didn't grow all cherries, or all nectarines, etc... It could end up being a nectarine/apricot hybrid, for instance. And, it'll take a decade before that seedling might start to produce its mystery fruit rather than just buying a named cultivar from a nursery for $20 and having a producing tree in a year and a half. Not trying to be negative. This will definitely grow you a tree. Just sharing knowledge of what to expect. :)
Actually, peaches and their kin can often produce fruit in just 2-3 years. I have some 1.5 year old peach trees that are in bloom right now... over 8' tall. As for variability, you have a point - but you'll still almost always get something tasty. Variation in stone fruit is a lot less than in some other varieties of fruit. I germinated about 40 pits to get what I have. There's basically no downside. You get a bunch of free trees which you can plant all over your yard. If you don't like the fruit in a few years on some of them, cut those down and keep the rest. Genetic variability is awesome... you may even get something better than a commercial variety.
I prefer the o'natural method, I eat all the seeds whole (like the majestic elephant) then poop em out in my garden. I like to do it in the middle of a wild thunderstorm so I can be sure there's adequate water for my smelly little babies. Thanks for your method though, I will be sure to try it out.
I have a peach seed waiting for germination but wasnt sure this method would work. You did use paper towel though. Would poopin paper work too? With a seed that size?

Why some people storing the seed in the fridge? I cracked 2 seed shells inside it’s not brown it’s light almost white will that work or the seed has to be completely dry? Thank you
Where I live it snows in the winter so can I leave the plant by the closed window? It's almost fall here now. Would I have to wait until spring to start growing cherries?
I waited a few days for the seed to dry, then, without taking the seed out of the covering, I put mine in a jar of water for a week until it started to sink a little. It was a more delicate procedure to take out but this seed is looking better than my other ones so far

great, thanks. I just did the same things with different cuttings, covered them with damped newspaper, put them in the plastic bag, etc. I wonder how long would take for the fruit trees grown from the seeds to fruit, 10 - 15 years?

Some were mushy, some were still firm but swollen. Is this normal? About how long before I should see some growth? Thanks for the video and response.
SMH19 They say that about apple seeds too, but I have succesfull germinate multiple apple seeds without a period of cooling down. Last time the seeds were even germinated inside the apple. So I think the freesing may give a better chance for germination, but it isnt impossible without.
Well I dont know. I succesfully germinated Spanish pine seeds with just paper towel. And even tryed just to throw them inside the the bucket( I dont know how it is caleld!) filled with dirt(For growing) and it grew!
@gyozza1 In nature the freezing would help crack the shell off the seed. But the cold can definitely help it germinate if you throw it into the fridge for a week or so before you plant it.
I had troubles cracking the pit. I tried squeezing with pliers, and then I gently hammered with a hammer but ended put crushing the seed. I ate and the seed- it was delicious. I would eat that again.
Sorry to burst your bubble but there is a very good reason these fruit trees are grafted! Grafted trees fruit in 2 to 3 years, while seed grown take 6 to 10 yrs also you have a 1 in 500 chance that your seed grown trees will make a fruit anyway close to the fruit you took it from. Please don't think I'm trying to put you down, all the luck in the world. On the positive you can use your trees as rootstock still. Aloha from Hawaii !

I heard something like this, but if I remember right doing that is only for one reason, to make the seed sprout quicker, by making the seed think it has become winter, then spring/summer when you take it out, making it want to sprout quicker.. I think that is why .. If you left a seed in a freezer it would not grow.. Seeds are stored long term with fridges and freezers as far as I know
