    I was taught the seed needed to go through a stratification process in order to be a fruit-bearing tree, will your method produce a fruit-bearing tree?

    • @husch05
      @husch05 Год назад

      For some stone fruits, like apricots and peaches, the stratification is already mostly done when they are stored in grocery stores.

    Bravo!!!! Thanks for the tutorial! So far I'm reading, they need to be placed in the fridge for a few weeks in the wet nap and Ziploc. Obviously not the case here. I'm so excited to get started 😀 going to start with a nectarine today!

    I waited a few days for the seed to dry, then, without taking the seed out of the covering, I put mine in a jar of water for a week until it started to sink a little. It was a more delicate procedure to take out but this seed is looking better than my other ones so far

    take a pair of channel lock pliers and pop shell that way. covering with a towel to capture shrapnel pieces. better than a hammer that may break seed.

    Quick question. Does the apricot trees survive on winter, because I live in Washington, D.C. I want to grow my own apricot trees

    • @pegjones7682
      @pegjones7682 6 лет назад

      You need to know the hardiness zone from a map,then pick a tree that survives in a zone even colder in case you get a freak cold spell. You live in the states so you can buy fruit trees developed in Canada for cold climates.Here in Canada we cant buy them and further more even if we can they are 80$ each!

    I was told you are supposed to put the seed in the bad in the fridge or a cold place.

    • @ItsFrenzy26
      @ItsFrenzy26 8 лет назад

      I heard something like this, but if I remember right doing that is only for one reason, to make the seed sprout quicker, by making the seed think it has become winter, then spring/summer when you take it out, making it want to sprout quicker.. I think that is why .. If you left a seed in a freezer it would not grow.. Seeds are stored long term with fridges and freezers as far as I know
