I play accordeon for a ear. I play half an hour a day. Idon’t no al the bas notes yeat but your video is so clear. It took me 2 Months and now I am able to play The song! So happy about that. Thanks very much from the netherlands
Thank you so much. I got a 18-bass accordion, as over the last year or two I had to return or sell the 40-some bass and 90-some bass ones because of hurting my back (and mind!). The 18-bass works great for me! I really like how you demonstrated different sections for the right and then left hand and finally both together. Will try along this morning. (It doesn’t hurt that I am now learning italian too, so I will down load the lyrics and sing along eventually). 💃🏼
Fabulous! Was able to learn it all in the six minutes with no repetition. Your tutorials are getting clearer and quicker, and I really appreciate your notes on expression and variations
carissima ,, questo pomeriggio ti ho seguito ed ho imparato l'inizio di questa bella canzone ,,, il modo che usi per farlo imparare è ottimo,,,, grazie ,,,
I make tutorials every 2 weeks and post a lesson video to go with the tutorial which is available to Patreon supporters. If you would like to have your say on which songs I make tutorials for then you can join Patreon!

How are we supposed to tell what you are playing with your left hand. Its so hard to see
You can’t, you must trust and follow your guts
Try slowing down the video using the settings function. This was one of my first tutorials, the other ones have a closer up image of the left hand and more specific instructions. I hope this helps.

Hello, thank you so much for these good lessons, I am beginner with a small 32 bass Fiocchi accordion, by the way i have only four rows of bass, no super bass then. How may I adapt the left hand in this case ?
You're welcome!
If you have the C D & G rows then you should still be able to play it! You don't need the counterbass row or the diminished 7th row so you should have the buttons that you need.
Just starting out Lucy. Your videos are great. I come from a classical guitar background and 10 days in I’m bout halfway on Palmer Hughes 1 book.
What would you recommend practice/ book wise? I tried finding melodian musette but couldnt. Like you, that’s what drew me to the instrument! Thanks
Thanks for the support! Congrats on discovering the accordion. Keep going through Palmer Hughes if you're enjoying it. Once you've completed the first 3 books you'll have a nice foundation to go out and learn from other music books. Musette Melodien can be difficult to find, sadly a lot of accordion books are going out of print.
the tutorial was great, however if you could go over all parts together at the end that would be even more helpful. thank you
Noted! Thank you
@leeknivek I bought myself a mini electronic key board with touch sensitive keys the keys are almost the same size. The Yamaha pss-A50. It is light enough to hold in accordion position.
That I'd a beautiful accordion by the way! Would you have any lessons for beginners?
Yes I do teach beginners. You can email me at lucyriddett@gmail.com. Sorry it took me so long to reply.
Hi Lucy, I have come across your videos which are really great to watch and listen to. Did you learn piano or keyboard prior to playing accordion. As an older novice accordion player I am considering buying a keyboard to assist my playing and to gain a better understanding of chord/scale formation etc. I would appreciate your view? Hi Neil. Thanks for watching my videos. I started learning piano when I was 9 years old. It was definitely a great foundation for learning all other instruments. There's no harm in you getting a keyboard! Take care.
Excelente!!!👏👏👏👏👏
Thank you!
What do I need for a small accordion? You said it but I cannot understand what you said. Thanks a lot marcello
You need C, D, G minor and major rows
can you make a tutorial for la foule❤️
Спасибо из России! 🇷🇺
Is that a 120 button base side?
it's 96
So I've been watching this tutorial and practing with my friend's accordion which is a piano one I have a chromatic button ones there any big difference on how to play it? Will I need to re learn it all again?
I'm not sure sorry! I assume the fingering in the right hand will be different but the left hand should be the same if it's a stradella bass.
Its the fingering I am stumbling on.
I hardly see your fingers move so cannot see what notes they are on.
I am starting again on accordion but I think the secret lies in the right hand placement of fingers.
I do so wish you would go through the Palmer Hughes accordion course up to say book four.
I am in Australia and remote so no teachers.
I am willing to pay for this.
I dont expect something for nothing.
Please give it some thought Lucy .
I have all the books up to book four.
I started with book two.
Or ...if course the Lucy course???
Pleeeeeze?

Hi Peter,
That's a good idea and it's something I have definitely thought about doing. As you may have noticed, I have not posted many videos or tutorials recently due to my life not being set up for it right now. However in some good news that's all about the change very soon because I'm moving into my own home and can racket about as much as I please making videos any time I like!
Like it very much thank you
Thanks!
I got myself a vintage 24 bass Tombo accordion. What does it mean when you say "Alternating Bass G minor"? I get that the rightmost button being pressed on the bass side is the G minor, but what are the other two buttons?
I doubt you even have the minor chord, and you definitely dont have the 7th. This is for stradella bass accordions (usually 72, 96, 100, or 120 bass). The two other buttons, they are just notes.
Alternating bass is where you play G, G minor, D, G minor. Instead of going back to G bass you play the bass button above it, which will be the 5th.
I’m not too sure how to do alternate bass, could someone explain and give examples? Thank you very much!
I currently don't have any videos on that... but maybe in the future!
😘❤️❤️❤️
Brand new beginner here. When you say G Minor alternating....alternating with what?
Alternating the bass note between the root G and the 5th, D, which is a row above. Hope that helps!
What is D dom 7
it's the row after the minor row - it's made up of a major triad, with the minor 7th degree added on top
I was wondering this as wel. Now I van play the whole song.
Nice italian song, very popular in the island of Malta.
Love that I learned this. And then learned it's an antifacist protest song and that's amazing!!
It's been adopted in a lot of different contexts but to me it's just a fun song!
