    ok i have been a commercial fishermen for 20+ years so i have nothing against fishing at all but i dont see the point in catching a shark that you cant even take the hooks out of his mouth unless your using steel hooks that rust out but still seems pointless to me

    • @stephensteele4586
      @stephensteele4586 7 лет назад +21

      You're a commercial fisherman but you don't understand the concept of catch and release fishing? They are using steel hooks by the way but that's besides the point; they'd rust out anyway. Land based shark fishermen is also one of the only ways that NOAA is able to get any data from their tagging program as well.

      Rick Garland I agree I've been commercial fishing all my life I grew up in Mexico. And as I grew up in in Key West Florida always use those steel hooks when I caught great white sharks when I was growing up in Alabama at the Gulf of Mexico. When I grew up in the state of Tennessee we caught whales and we used those stainless steel hooks. I know what I'm talking about. Cuz I'm a Bigfoot researcher I've been researching Bigfoot since I was a young man in Korea. I remember my first encounter with the yeti in Australia. We use stainless steel hooks there to to fish for Bluegill. Yeah I remember because as a Sasquatch researcher when I went to college at the University of Maine we had to know all about stainless steel hooks before we could graduate. After I graduated I went to Yale and Brown University. And after I got my degree in 1944 I moved back to Cancun Mexico were the natives called it Ottawa Jaime which means hairy man with stainless steel hook. Anyway I moved to Colorado where I was born and raised became a photojournalist I dedicated my life going out to find the perfect picture of the stainless steel hook. I remember growing up in California where they outlawed the stainless steel Hook because of the environment. So I agree 100% with you that Bigfoot is real.

      sometimes it is but most places have no regulations in Florida where I live (and I surf fish a lot) but you could really go anywhere and catch a shark but it is kinda courtesy to not bring in a shark on a beach with hundreds of people on it but for a place where there are not many people it should be fine and also they will not come back looking for food they were out there in the first place if they wanted to eat a human they would have already done it.

    • @goodtimefishing1499
      @goodtimefishing1499 5 лет назад

      That's what a lot of people believe that don't know better. The scary thing is that those sharks are always there near the beach regardless of whether someone is fishing for them or not. You might not see them but they are always out there.

    • @BlacktipH
      @BlacktipH  7 лет назад +4

      I previously used two hooks, but after catching many large sharks, there is really no benefit. Big sharks can eat big baits with no problem. One hook ensures a healthy release.

    • @mommy2libras
      @mommy2libras 7 лет назад +11

      art expression But like any type of fish they can be an invasive species.
      When any organism- plants, animals, fungi, etc- are introduced into an environment that didn't already support them the results can be catastrophic. Just because "sharks live in the ocean" doesn't mean that all species of shark live in every part of every ocean. However, as far as I know hammerhead sharks are not an invasive species to any part of Florida.
      But parts of the Florida Gulf Coast do now have longish which ARE an invasive species. They multiply like crazy and while some other larger fish can and do eat them, since they aren't from there they don't have the numbers of natural predators to keep the population in check. They're eating juvenile fish of many other native species leaving the numbers of the others dwindling and eating the things they eat. Things like this can cause the destruction of ecosystems.

    Shark fishing seems no fun because you barely get to see the fish

      Not true. With these hammerhead sharks there's strict regulations about handling them when caught. The sharks are kept in the water and released within a minute or two to ensure their survival. Other species, however, are more hardy and can deal with being taken out onto the sand.
