That JLC Geophysic is just stunning, if I wasn't moving house next month I'd be seriously tempted. Though I heard Tim make a mistake for I think the first time ever at 13:57. It's either an equidistant or Lambert Conic projection (the meridians radiate from an apex and the parallels arc between them), a Mercator is a cylindrical projection (the meridians and parallels run parallel to themselves and perpendicular to one another)
Genuinely one of the coolest lineups on this show in a while. I had no idea the Piaget Upstream even existed. That watch is beautiful and I’m going to buy it today if no one has beaten me to it. Never had a watch shipped from the states though (I’m in the uk).
Regarding the AP Ginza 7: The AP boutique in Tokyo is located on Ginza 6th street, but right next to 7th street. Ginza 6 is also the name of a famous high end shopping mall with many luxury watch brands, so it is probably a sort of inside joke that it is "Ginza 6", but plus one.
@@lamadoo 😂😂😂If you actually believe that Rolex is THE number 1 brand, you are utterly delusional. They have good marketing, but they are also making just under a million watches every year, and while they typically have superb construction, Rolex's collectibility short of vintage/older models is extremely synthetic. That isn't to say they are bad, but they are certainly not at the top of the food chain. They compete with Omega, and yet I could probably acquire an in-house column wheel vertical clutch with two mainsprings for 8-9k if I went into an Omega boutique any day of the week. 8-9k ain't cheap, but compared to 12k+ and a completely unnecessary potentially several year waitlist, I'll go for the omega. However, compared to some haute horology watchmakers, neither Rolex nor Omega are even close to that level.
Thanks for sharing your birthday and some great watches, truly the best line up in awhile. Had no idea that the market for Daytonas was that rediculas. I found the IWC GST to be quite appealing and, as you point out, it came from a more inovative period for IWC. That JLC worldtime is really great. Have a good birthday!
Thanks for this kind feedback, Randy! Indeed, the IWC is a phenomenal value. Considering the price, you couldn't even buy an Oyster Perpetual for that money, but you can get the titanium, vintage tritium, and JLC-powered GST. Best, Tim
Those UN’s 👍🔵👍⚪️!!! That HM&C 👍🔵!!! I always liked that Piaget Upstream! Amazing Starry Sky and LF! Awesome show. And happy belated birthday Tim - June 11th is my sister’s birthday as well; you’re in good company!
@@BobbyDazzler888 like it said it depends on your definition of better. Nice video, thank you. Zenith for me, please. Non screw down pushers but keeps 100m wr, date, interesting movement and dial. Hope Zenith sells out of them, this watch is a winner.
Happy Birthday Tim !!! Feliz cumpleaños un abrazo desde México DB 28 amazing watch one of the most all time elegant jumping hours ever made, amazing moon!... Why the price range for DB Is lower than a retail ??? 🤔 116500LN $40 K 😱 difficult to understand the market on this days. Thanks Tim
Interesting to see the Zenith and the Daytona together. I like the Zenith, except bracelet and clasp. They look really cheap, like something that you will find on Invicta.
I’m all for De Bethune one day getting as much hype as Journe, they really deserve. Just please hold on until I become one of their vip customers first hahaha
There’s nothing more comparable to the Daytona than the Omega Speedmaster Racing with white dial, yet no one talks about that (and I’m an Omega lover) Tim’s comments on the Zenith Chronomaster Sport, surprisingly, have been nothing but biased. Don’t think I’ve noticed that in any previous video. Love you Tim, but your comments on this watch have been tainted by bias instead of fact. You’ve even stated that they were intentionally playing off the Daytona, when their CEO said otherwise. Zenith DNA through and through. A black ceramic bezel does not equal a Daytona… unless you’ve bought into the marketing machine. Rolex wasn’t the first to use a panda dial, nor will they be the last. In fact, the OG Zenith El Primero had a Panda with black tachometer (not ceramic, obviously).
The bracelet and clasp design is the smoking gun. That shows exactly what Zenith intended for the watch - it's frankly shameful. If it were just the bezel they would have a high degree of plausible deniability. The Speedmaster Racing is a very nice watch with an original design.
@@stewester the speedmaster racing panda is no more or less original than the Zenith Chronomaster Sport. I agree with that completely. My point was that no one even mentions that timepiece and it looks more like the Daytona. The bracelet is designed as an homage to Gay Frères, who made bracelets for Zenith and most manufacturers, including Rolex, back in the day. So is the ladder bracelet that made on the Zenith A384 reissue. And I appreciate your opinions more so at this point regarding the bracelet. At least that’s a legitimate argument. Most are ridiculous.
finally some interesting watches. UN, IWC, PIAGET and more. but then came again those De Bethune. again and again. sorry but for such a small brand you show them too often. it seems like eather they make thousands and thousands of them or everyone who buys them wants to sell them. and the same with F.P Journe. please more “normal” watchs that a regular guy can buy.
Seriously the Zenith is not a value proposition, it’s a non waitlist proposition. We know if you want the Daytona and buy the zenith you will be disappointed.
The Zenith looks like a Daytona that's lost its physique and gained a beer gut. Nowhere near as elegant, and frankly it comes off as a cheap but poorly executed imitation rather than a competitor.
Think as demand for the Zenith grows, and so does it’s pre-owned market value, the Daytona pre-owned value will come down from the current absurd values. I am quite sure a lot of customers would gladly pick the Zenith, and this cannibalisation should lower Daytona demand. Just my 2 cents.

please let me know how that works out. Very cool to witness the start of a 'watch crush' Good luck!
I absolutely love my Zenith Chronomaster Sport. I honestly never loved the Daytona but I love my Zenith.
I agree and that new timing system is amazing. You're a lucky guy.
Zenith came out swinging for the fence and managed to knock it out of the park.
Agree.
What a subtle and creative way to highlight your Birthday! All the best Tim ~~

@@the1916companywatchreviews Happy birthday Tim! You share a birthday with my sister.
I did catch that too. Happy Birthday Tim. All the best!
I love that Piaget upstream, I'm still bummed I wasn't able to get the gold one featured on this show some months back!
Piaget and Ulysse Nardin are the show’s true highlights

Thank you for catching that!

Anyone that pays 40k for a daytona , albeit a vintage one , is INSANE...
No mate, these are luxury watches. Those who do pay for the number 1 luxury brand aka Rolex can afford to do so.

That JLC is like having an atlas on your wrist!
Really great selection Tim - something of interest for everyone 👌🥃
It is a blasphemy that this video doesn't have a million views.
Zenith El Primero, way better movement at a third of the price.
Vintage el primero looka exactly like a Daytona, costs £3000
That would depend on your definition of better I guess but when it comes to accuracy, durability and reliability over time the 4130 is the winner

Piaget Piaget, get back on that track, nothing quite like it on today’s market
wow, that IWC alarm is very reminiscent of Sinn
DB is awesome, but the violetish-blue dial is an acquired taste. DB digital is wow! "Limited edition AP Royal Oak" is an oxymoron 😂.

As long people keep comparing Rolexen with other brands , Rolex remains the status of benchmark . Keep on doing a impossible job , Rolex is the king
Still Rolex
Zenith for me, any day
The only problem with Zenith Chronomaster Sport is the size. I wish they downsize it a little but oh well....
