it's called hub-centre steering. the 'king pin' which allows the front wheel to turn left/right is bang in the centre of the front wheel hub. you can just see this at 1:00min mark.

and gearing just by placing the friction disc in a different position. Genius.
Motorcycle design went BACKWARDS after this superb piece of two wheel engineering.
