  • Showing the restoration of an unusual and rare 1923 American motorcycle.
Starting with a reasonably complete bike in need of much of work to the finished project being ridden and enjoyed. It shows some interesting work being done to get this Neracar running again.

    Yikes that roller bearing!

thanks for the comment, yes, it was a mess. Luckily I found some correct new rollers and although the crankpin was not so good, the machine only has to do a few laps around a carpark once a year. I did investigate the idea of getting a new big-end assembly made in England but the cost was prohibitive; in this case.

Hi. I also have a Neracar that I'm struggling with the original carb.
Can you please share what model Dellorto carb you used and what jetting you ended up with?
    Regards Simon

Thanks for the post Simon, I'll see if I can find the invoice for the carburettor for you. I chose to use a Dellorto because I could buy one already jetted for a "piston port"two stroke engine: it is very important to get the correct emulsion tube otherwise it will never run correctly.
I'll get that info to you over the next few days.
      Cheers

@@simonjay901 Hello Simon, the Dellorto I used is a
      PHBG 21 DS
and you will find it on the site
      dellorto.co.uk
You will have to work your way through all the models but eventually you will find it. I remember having to make a stepped sleeve by turning down a piece of plastic round to connect it to the Neracar stub. Worm drive clamps were used to hold it in place. It was necessary to modify the Neracar stub.
      I hope this helps.

By modifying the inlet stub I was able to avoid cutting away part of the Neracar cowling; the cables and carburettor top came out through the existing opening.
If I could contact you on Messenger I could send pictures of the modifications.

That's fantastic info and will be a great help in getting mine running properly.
Yes I remember in your video that you modified the inlet.
My inlet is home made so won't be any problem modifying or making a new one to suit.
Thankyou very much for your reply and help.
      Very much appreciated.
