9 days ago I slipped hard on ice and cracked my knee. Something told me to keep it still. No hospital, no ibuprofen & no ice. I felt something move inside causing sharp pain but still trusted my intuition. I knew if I went to a hospital they’d want to touch it, do an ex Ray, put in a cast for Christmas or worse..push for surgery and pins. I let my knee swell, bruise but knew it’s apart of the healing process. Today is day 9..I can walk on it now & bend my knee with little to no discomfort ❤ I have a high pain tolerance & I’m happy I trusted myself.

You were a bit lucky though. If it were a comminuted fracture(bone breaking into a bunch of pieces). It would strictly need medical attention. Hatsoff to your resilience. Hope you fully recover with this rapid rate. 😊😊

"the most common drugs for inflammation are non steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs... such as aspirin or ibuprofen"
"They *contain* an enzyme known as cyclooxygenase...."
just wanted to clarify that this information as presented about the function of nsaids is misleading and incorrect. They do not contain cyclooxygenase, but inhibit the enzyme which is present within cells already, preventing it from producing prostaglandin and other immunogenic molecules.

Yes, thats that's why you can easily draw nsaid (drugs) in Lewis structure etc , because it's relatively simple structures

Interesting point at the end about anti-inflammatory drugs. So, basically, what they do is inhibit the healing process.

  • @dionysuswife

In this case, if the wound still exists and haven't recovered fully, why would we have an anti-inflammatory drugs?

    • @jokejoka4282
      @jokejoka4282 Месяц назад

That is a very good question, in this video they are talking generally about inflammation process and the natural immune response .
in case of a small wound like paper cut for example you won't go to the doctor and the auto immune response is enough (you can stand the pain)
but in case of inflammatory processes that are big enough to cause unbearable pain (after surgery, car crashes .. for example and not strict to)
you will need anti inflammatory drugs(nsaids) to stop the stages and of course u need antibiotics suitable for the cause to prevent an INFECTION
the mechanism of healing is not fully related to inflammation as it is related to releasing of growth factors and other chemical factors
      hope i was helpful

Inflammation is considered a protective or survival immune process, but when uncontrolled it causes serious tissue damage.
Inflammation is produced by infections, tissue necrosis, foreign bodies, or by hypersensitivity reactions. Through these causes, recognition occurs, followed by lymphocyte recruitment, elimination, regulation and finally repair of the injured tissue. Recognition is the initial step of inflammation, and occurs through different receptors found on the surface of circulating leukocytes in blood or tissues.
Flushing (redness), swelling, warmth, pain and loss of function may be present as the cardinal signs of inflammation.
Vasodilatation occurs in the blood vessels due to the action of histamine, which produces an increase in flow (heat and erythema) and vascular permeability (swelling). There comes a process by which leukocytes adhere to the vascular endothelium, to continue with chemotaxis (attraction) towards the site of the lesion, following an electrochemical gradient by proinflammatory cytokines.

If release of chemoattractants & vasodilation decrease then how the immune cells reach to the infection site and how to they prevent infection ?

Just my opinion here (i don't know many informations about this, so if i say something wrong, please correct me). So, i think that medications like this are meant to reduce inflammation by blocking the release of these chemo attracts and so they won't spread and damage other cells anymore. Basically, i think they prevent the spreading of the inflammation, while some white cells are still coming in the way to help (because you can't just reduce it to zero). Did you know that penicillin doesn't actually kill the bacteria, but rather it prevents it from dividing by damaging their cell wall? I believe is similar in this case.

vasodalation make blood flow increase and make blood pressure decrease and after this there is stage of slowing of blood flow ( i think because of endothelial cells became -sticky or something like this and premeability of the vascular).

Do the blood vessel wall ever used the oxygen before it gets to the other tissues. I mean if red blood cells had their own power they'd use up the oxygen but would we need these arteries muscles in in arteries

Why would one want an anti-inflammatory besides the symptoms of inflammation? I mean it seems the inflammation response is what’s needed to take of yourself and start the process for repair

Chronic inflammation causes chronic diseases like CVD and inflammation is hypothesized as the reason for aging. Sometimes immune responses are not helpful like joint inflammation where it usually causes more damage or too high of a fever. Hope that helps a little

You can’t tell me God ain’t real when there are trillions of cells fighting to keep you alive at all hours of the day, nonstop, and when you get hurt they come running to save tf otta you . When they say your body is your temple, they mean that. God is amazing and there is no greater love. There are intense battles going on that we don’t even know about, and your cells don’t have any other thought than “I AM GOING TO SACRAFISE EVERYTHING I CAN TO HELP HIM!’ Amen, if you think nobody loves you, there are trillions, TRILLIONS of little creatures in you, that love you. How can scientists study this and question whether God is real? What more proof would anyone need?
