After sitting for 7 years, I would expect issues, disassembly and cleaning of the carbs seems like a must. I'm sure the carbs will perform well once the problems are sorted and adjusted, no reason to throw them out just because people don't like them. Not many choices these days for replacements.
Excellent! Sounds smooth, if running on one carburetor! Looking forward to seeing the tune-up work and first drive. Thanks for another valuable video. Have a good Sunday.
Since i get up 5 to 6 am Pacific Time, this was my morning reminder of the very rusty 70 TR6 sitting in my shop ive been avoiding the restoration start since arrival 2 months ago.. I did download your degree wheel. Thank you. Mike in Dallesport, Washington State.
Hi Elin, Well done, it sounded very smooth!! Quite surprsing if only one of the carbs was working. Must be great having Dave at your side👍👍 Have a great weekend!!
It must have been a relief when the engine fired up first time, but when you do your homework properly, you get the results! Congrats. Maybe you know this, but on the Briggs & Stratton engines the gap between the flywheel and the magneto is set by putting the box lid in which the mag is packaged between the mag and the flywheel.
I am glad you got her started, but since you posted this video in the morning, before 9am, it was a bit early to join you in a celebratory beer. I will have it later, Cheers! Great job, now take care of the little things you noticed.
This is great, the first start is always exciting. Very successful, I would say. There are always followup punch list items and your list seems very modest by any measure. As far as the carbs go, i have always had good results with webers, thanks for a great video and am looking forward to the next installment
That's nice that the kit gave you a shim. I can't tell you how many Hall Effect pickups I've installed where you had to guess and check the distance between the pickup and the magnet.
I think the vacuum unit has a bleed hole; otherwise as the vacuum increases and decreases the with varying throttle positions, the vacuum unit would remain in the position of the deepest vacuum.
Good job on the first start. I vote for putting the Strombergs or some other performance carbs back on. Everybody who knows me knows that I don't care for those Pinto/Fiat 128 carbs. They were lousy carbs on Pintos and Mustang II's and are Just grocery getter carbs being promoted as performance carbs by Redline and others.
i want your dog :)....i already have a tr6 so am ok there. great video...good old timing wheel and vernier gauge...does your head in due to variable data out there.
Hi Elin Good work as always. Is the Vacuum canister the right side of the Distibutor? Mine and every other one I can find is on the left with the adjustment on the right? Including the Moss and Rimmer catalogues. Surely this must be correct for the Vacuum Advance/Retard to work correctly?
Another milestone.. Brilliant work Elin and a very enjoyable watch.

It's getting there Elin, but still plenty to do.

I’m always impressed with how smooth the 6 cylinder TR engine is compared to my 4 cylinder MGB engine. Maybe I need to upgrade to an MGC.

What a nice video Elin. I will check my camshaft timing the same way 😀👍

Funny how Dave shows up after the engine is timed.
12th! So I guess I'll need to buy two 6-packs in celebration of the successful startup! Cheers!😊
It's alive!

This one was cool. You guys really know car stuff!! Just kidding, but very impressive knowledge and proper tools.
I think there's supposed to be a small felt washer below the rotor arm

24 just right

True about the first and last one but I disagree with the one in the middle LOL… oh, are we still talking about firing order here? 😂
@@RustyBeauties yes we are!
It’s how I remember the firing order for an inline 6. For a 4 cyl, I sing it in French. Une, trios quatre deux .
@@graemelliott3942 lol, I know, that is how I remember it too :)
First! Good to know how to install the electronic ingishion since I have to install it someday on my Spitfire.

I won't use those carbs. I've tried them on two cars and the Strombergs were better in both cases. Hopefully you have better luck!

2nd! Eventually I will be first.
Third!
