Looking at professional racers on a track the 1000's are about 5 seconds on average faster than the 600's. An experienced rider on a 600 can beat a less experienced rider on a 1000. I have been back and forth between 600's and 1000's during my 40+ years of riding. I strongly believe that I improved my skills on the 600's and then applied them to the 1000's. I believe the best riders start on something small and get good by working the crap out of it to go fast. The fastest pros started small and worked their way through the ranks before racing 1000's.

True. And he stated more than once that 600s shine on track and in the canyons. It sounds like most people agree that a liter bike is better on the street. FastlaneD are the type of riders that are really hard to teach anything cause they think they know it all. 600cc heck any cc from 300cc is always beneficial to your learning development. You will never ever use the 1000cc power on the street unless u wanna illegally break the speed limit. 1000cc will land u in trouble really quickly.
I don’t know him personally so I can’t comment on the type of rider he is. But I agree that any bike with proper tires, suspension, and 4+ gears is totally adequate to improve your skills, and the less power it has the less fear will impede that progress. As a person trying to get into riding or getting a motorcycle, which im buying very soon. The 600 vs 1000 motorcycle is a question i consistently asking myself. Im leaning toward a 750 or 1000. These videos are very helpful for someone like me, because i feel like i know what type of riding i want to do.
I’m glad the videos help! I will say if you’re brand new to riding, get something smaller would be my advice. A bike with less power is going to give you a margin for error. Personally, I think I could have started on a 600, but I’m glad I started on a 500. I could afford to make a mistake and learn from it. And many mistakes were (and are still) made. Whatever route you go, just put in the work to hone your skills.
I wouldn't do that if I were you. Get something like a ninja650/R7/sv650, something in that category used and ride that for 1-3 years. You will develop skills much faster on a more forgiving bike.
Of course you could start on a 1000, but what is the rush? Part of the fun of any hobby is the learning process, you ride the 600 for a year or two and learn safely. Then you move to the liter bike, and get to find out what that is all about. Finally, you might even move back down to a 600 at some point, just to keep things fresh. FastLaneD is a cool guy, he just likes liter bikes better. I just moved down from R1 back to GSXR600, and I love the small motor, it makes me giggle - I don't feel like any regrets. I got to taste liter power for a couple of years, to satisfy my curiosity, personally I don't need the extra power. But the journey has been fun. Figure on losing about $3000 after 2 years if you buy and trade bikes though a dealership, not cheap. But you won't be upside down or anything, you will likely still have some equity on the trade.
I’d go for the 600cc to 750cc that’s all u need trust me. I started on a ninja 650 within the yr I jumped straight to the 22 zx10r I am actually pissed I started with the ninja 650 I would have never upgraded and spent so much money if I would have just started with a 600cc to 750cc I had more fun on my ninja 650 then I do on my 1000 I’m actually trying to get out from under my zx10r I literally only use 2 gears in town. I went -1f +2r just to get more down low-mid torque I’d like get a 636 or 750 . I want to be able to use all the gears. Hear it scream But that’s me you do what you feel is right Be safe
Honestly love my GSXR 600, feels very rewarding on the track or spirited street riding knowing that I'm riding within my own abilities because the bike won't save me due to not having technology. Keeps me extremely engaged with the motorcycle knowing my safety net is are my own skills. Not saying rider aids are bad, but I believe everyone should get the feel of riding without them to better that individual dexterity.
Fast lane is assuming everyone thinks like he does. I actually went from a liter bike back down to a 600. I love riding high in the rev range in the lower gear to get the power I need for road riding. I like the fact that my bike has no rider aids so that I depend on my skills and keep me on my toes. I like shifting through the gears and rev-matching, down shifting which for me is one of the key elements that make riding fun. I like how it’s not overpowered like a liter bike where can I keep that throttle twisted and still feel in control. I understand what fast lane is saying. Although it may hold true for some riders that statement does not pertain to us all.

As a rider of 4 GSX-R 750's, one Street Triple R 765, and now after 20 years of riding I'm finally on a liter bike "GSX-R 1000". And I agree with what you have said here. But, will def say that after owning the 1k for a while and feeling the torque it can produce down low it is very easy to drive on the street compared to clutching the 750 at times to get moving from a stop, corner, etc. Coming from the 750 with zero rider aids to a bike that has most of them, the only one I really appreciate is the ABS. I have the same model year zx6 and zx10. My legs and wrists hurt when I'm on the 600 in like 20 minutes and my zx10, I can ride all day without feeling anything. Both pretty much stock and I'm 6'3 245 without gear. BUT, some bike brands concentrate more on certain things than others. I would definitely argue that zx10s are at the higher end of the list based on comfort compared to an R1.
I would agree that a 600ss has very little place on the street. But all the 650s, 660s, 636s are perfect starter/intermediate bikes. The 600s were spec racing bikes.
Let me say this, my friend, that is one of the most professional speeches that I have seen on content yet you totally got your point across and I absolutely agree with you. I currently have a leader bike and two 600 super sports I have a 2023 ZX 6-r and a 2022 Aprilia, RS 660. I have a 2016 BMW S 1000 XR that is my pride and joy. I guess it really all depends on what kind of riding you prefer. If you’re straight line racing then I must say you need to up your game and check out more mafia.!!! You completely missed the point. What he said in the video does not match the title. He actually does not believe 600cc makes no sense. I also sub to Dylan's YT ,and to be honest he is a good sales man. He ran that vid ,and in somewhat the same fashion as you , he was not talking anyone down for riding 600's he just gave a opinion from the perspective of a 250 lbs guy. That being said if you tune a 600/750 you will get smoother low end torque/hp ,and 600/750 bikes are way... more then enough for the street considering the legality of the road ways. However we do not ride bikes to putt them around ,and we all like to twist the throttle from time to time ,and no your not going to be able to use all the liter bikes power in 90% of the environment the street provides. I think both of you made good points with out beef!

Although I love my liter bike and will never go back to a 600, they aren’t even remotely close to useless. If I had never tried the liter bike drug I would probably still be on a 600 and never been bored of it. But liter bikes are like a drug straight up. The closer you get to death on them the more fun they are.
great chasing wish i was out there with you and good points. They all have there place. I deff feel the same on any sport bike ( comfort is the same on any cc) for bigger riders id they would feel better on say a z1000 style bike vs gsxr 1000 because of ergonomiscs. at least thats me with jocking of a few types but im a short fat guy. In terms of racing, there is a reason why every racer starts on a 300, then goes to a 600, then at the end goes to a 1000. There is no racer I have ever met that has told me that they are glad to have jumped on a 1000cc bike too soon. In fact most of them went up to 1000 and downgraded all the way to 300 to learn the fundamentals before going to a 600 to learn speed. Fastlaned is a straight line warrior. It is understandable what he says because motorcycles are best in a straight line, and he only rides straight lines with big bikes. But I completely dismiss his skills as a rider. I have a ninja400 and I am 100% sure I'll be faster than him on track. The thing is, it doesn't matter because he doesn't give a shit about the track.
The statue of the rider is the most important factor .Can a 125 lb 5 5 in rider handle a 1000... sure on a straight line.. can he touch the ground sure one foot.If the bikes rear tire slides off the edge of the road will he be safe or not crash No likely. This means that smaller bikes give a smaller person a chance to walk away .600 bikes are not for 6 ft people either.
Fun note for you, you don't need to pull in the clutch for upshifts once you are out of second gear. Just put some pressure up on the shift lever, blip the throttle, and you will slip up into the next gear. Great story btw.
600s are fine on the street, Aprilia 660 and many other 600 ish bikes have all the litre bike rider aids as well, so when it comes to new bikes, that argument is old. This whole 1k Vs 600 on the street is far to dependant on the riders needs and skills to make a solid claim as to what is "better"
I prefer early 2000 600cc bike I ride mine every chance I get you'll never convince me otherwise that that's not the perfect bike I've had lots of bikes bigger 1000 CC's and they're boring 600cc is so flickable and fast enough to getaway😂
Many peoples dont understand that the supersports catergory 600-750 are the most refined motorcycles other than a uncomfortable ergonomics these bikes are far more superior than any other modern bikes or parallel twins false supersports...the geometry...the materials theyre made...suspensions....super lightweigth...i own a gsxr600 L2 identical to yours and i have no problems riding in the caotic traffic of Rome...and i dont feel i need electronics or rider aids...that these catergory is pointless...i dont think so
600cc's require less maintenance to keep them going and the rear tires last twice as long, ride a 600cc and your bank account looks alot better than a 1000cc riders will.
I’ve seen videos of him ripping around the track. I kinda feel like the twisty road content doesn’t do as well as the “traditional” moto vlog, but it’s how I like to ride and and I don’t plan on changing it up for the internet. And Goldie’s right, some place just don’t got the right roads. I got a buddy in Hawaii that has to use on ramps for cornering practice.
Theres a difference between riding a sportbike and actually KNOWING HOW to ride a sportbike. Because the fact is there are 600 riders at the track that are way faster than advanced group 1000cc riders, which is why I think this debate is so stupid, theres a place where skill, suspension, and tires make the biggest difference, not the engine... and we all know FastLaneD would get smoked by a decent Ninja 400 rider if he wasnt on a highway. All due respect to the dude but he is not a fast rider at all. DudeMungus, FastLineD and anyone else on youtube that posts them riding 1000cc bikes racing on the interstate cater to slow riders who just want to see their dream bikes in action, its just a fact and honestly the people that have only ever ridden on the street are the slowest sport bike riders in the world, which is fine theres nothing wrong with only knowing how to ride on the streets and not gaining any real skill. @@motofinesse I got a 2023 ZX10r. I wouldn’t want to start on this beast because it’s heavy and it has all the cheater electronics. I wouldn’t have learned anything on the zx10. But the 600s are definitely more like a race bike. But that’s why they’re not as good for the streets. Or for commuting rather. It’s actually better to rip on a 600

Although I love my liter bike and will never go back to a 600, they aren’t even remotely close to useless. If I had never tried the liter bike drug I would probably still be on a 600 and never been bored of it.
But liter bikes are like a drug straight up. The closer you get to death on them the more fun they are.

great chasing wish i was out there with you and good points. They all have there place. I deff feel the same on any sport bike ( comfort is the same on any cc) for bigger riders id they would feel better on say a z1000 style bike vs gsxr 1000 because of ergonomiscs. at least thats me with jocking of a few types but im a short fat guy. In terms of racing, there is a reason why every racer starts on a 300, then goes to a 600, then at the end goes to a 1000. There is no racer I have ever met that has told me that they are glad to have jumped on a 1000cc bike too soon. In fact most of them went up to 1000 and downgraded all the way to 300 to learn the fundamentals before going to a 600 to learn speed.
Fastlaned is a straight line warrior. It is understandable what he says because motorcycles are best in a straight line, and he only rides straight lines with big bikes. But I completely dismiss his skills as a rider. I have a ninja400 and I am 100% sure I'll be faster than him on track. The thing is, it doesn't matter because he doesn't give a shit about the track.

The statue of the rider is the most important factor .Can a 125 lb 5 5 in rider handle a 1000... sure on a straight line.. can he touch the ground sure one foot.If the bikes rear tire slides off the edge of the road will he be safe or not crash No likely. This means that smaller bikes give a smaller person a chance to walk away .600 bikes are not for 6 ft people either.

Fun note for you, you don't need to pull in the clutch for upshifts once you are out of second gear. Just put some pressure up on the shift lever, blip the throttle, and you will slip up into the next gear. Great story btw.
600s are fine on the street, Aprilia 660 and many other 600 ish bikes have all the litre bike rider aids as well, so when it comes to new bikes, that argument is old. This whole 1k Vs 600 on the street is far to dependant on the riders needs and skills to make a solid claim as to what is "better"
I prefer early 2000 600cc bike I ride mine every chance I get you'll never convince me otherwise that that's not the perfect bike I've had lots of bikes bigger 1000 CC's and they're boring 600cc is so flickable and fast enough to getaway😂
Many peoples dont understand that the supersports catergory 600-750 are the most refined motorcycles other than a uncomfortable ergonomics these bikes are far more superior than any other modern bikes or parallel twins false supersports...the geometry...the materials theyre made...suspensions....super lightweigth...i own a gsxr600 L2 identical to yours and i have no problems riding in the caotic traffic of Rome...and i dont feel i need electronics or rider aids...that these catergory is pointless...i dont think so

600cc's require less maintenance to keep them going and the rear tires last twice as long, ride a 600cc and your bank account looks alot better than a 1000cc riders will.

I’ve seen videos of him ripping around the track. I kinda feel like the twisty road content doesn’t do as well as the “traditional” moto vlog, but it’s how I like to ride and and I don’t plan on changing it up for the internet.

It’s actually the opposite. 600’s are more difficult to flat foot than bigger bikes. They seem to have a taller seat.
Theres a difference between riding a sportbike and actually KNOWING HOW to ride a sportbike. Because the fact is there are 600 riders at the track that are way faster than advanced group 1000cc riders, which is why I think this debate is so stupid, theres a place where skill, suspension, and tires make the biggest difference, not the engine... and we all know FastLaneD would get smoked by a decent Ninja 400 rider if he wasnt on a highway. All due respect to the dude but he is not a fast rider at all.
DudeMungus, FastLineD and anyone else on youtube that posts them riding 1000cc bikes racing on the interstate cater to slow riders who just want to see their dream bikes in action, its just a fact and honestly the people that have only ever ridden on the street are the slowest sport bike riders in the world, which is fine theres nothing wrong with only knowing how to ride on the streets and not gaining any real skill. The only reason I dont ride a 1000cc is 1. I cant even max out my 600 and im riding near the top of expert group, and im still passing 1000cc riders in expert group and 2. COST, I already spend $1100+ for a weekend at the track, it would be more like $1400+ easily if I rode 1000cc.
But I guess if you just want to ride a 1000cc with minimal experience, so goodbye to being a good rider for a very long time, sure you can split cars on the highway and drag race thats cool and all, but youd get smoked by 600s for a very long time because skills on a faster bike take so much longer to develop - aka fast lane d. Oh and BTW ive seen dude mungus at the track, he could barely even keep up with the 600s in beginner group on his gsxr 1000 LMAO.
What I also find funny is he says 600cc is superior on the track, what track advice is this dude giving? hes slow ASF! Every opinion he has about motorcycles is irrelevant, he cant even properly ride a sportbike. The people who actually know how to ride dont listen to nonsense put out by youtubers like this.

Fastlane whatever. Posing around town and highways. Guy must be one of those that doesn't realise it's more fun going fast on a smaller machine. I'm 6,2, 230lbs and love ripping my gsxr 600. Do I want a thousand? Yeah. Do I care that much about it, knowing I could ride everywhere in 3rd or lower? No.
