@@ArclightStorm Unfortunately all but a certainty at this point with Wizards wholeheartedly embracing power creep as a means to sell product. Once their satisfied with Standard's 'revitalization' I'm sure their focus will turn to Pioneer since it has been more or less ignored by them since Covid.
Senu is the kind of magic card that makes me happy. It's unique and expands the possibilities of Magic, even after so many mechanics and past card designs.
Ulamog does count itself, since it already enters the battlefield with the counters as a replacement effect, I have already been smacked by this in Limited a few times thanks to Emperor of Bones
I've had the same thing happen when I Dread Return a Golgari Grave-Troll. It enters with a number of +1/+1 counters that counts itself as still being in the grave

This actually fits pretty well with the origin of that meme - the whole story behind people calling cards worse than Storm Crow is that Crow could pitch to Force of Will, so nonblue cards that weren't incredible would often be worse than a textless blue card.
All I heard spike say was “grinding breach tier 1” Seriously though I think a 2 mana res legend that’s just decent (we’ve all seen how strong unstable amulet can be) is huge for breach. A boros version that just plays the fair game with breach backup is something I’m into for sure
I personally don’t like these type of sets, especially since they jam them in not even 3 weeks after the largest set release of the whole year. Like I don’t even try and keep up with the spoilers anymore, too fast and overwhelming.
remember when they banned the cards jihad and crusade because reasons and then went to make a deal with a historical fantasy setting that include both of these things anyway
Force of Virtue is interesting with the bird, it makes the main downside potentially not matter. Personally I think you likely need strong 1 mana legendary creatures to play with it, which ... all we have really is ragavan ... so that's an issue. Feel it is a card that could come back around and be relevant with 2 1 mana white legendaries being printed.
Ballad's upside is crazy high if there were ever a shell it fit into. I'm not excited about any of the reasons to build around historic cards. But if that was ever an 80%+ historic deck, triple impulse with graveyard filling and mana discounts is a heck of a lot to get for 3 mana.
Tax Collector feels like a very real card in any metagame where people are doing proactive things at sorcery speed. It's very weak against any deck with enough instant speed plays that they can dodge the tax. I think it will elephant kind of like a white Thoughtseize, as just an extremely maindeckable piece of generic combo disruption that's still okay in fair matchups.
Worth noting that the RW assassin probably doesn’t actually kill with the breach loop because you’d need to ping them 20 times. Maybe with a few bolts to the face at the end to finish them off it could work though?
One cool thing about Senu, is you can 'loop' two of them. One attacks, isn't blocked, trigger on the stack, exile the other one to draw. Repeat next turn
My second favorite part about commander decks (cause favorite is the decks usually) is seeing if the new cards get some fringe use in legacy cause that's always fun to see, so that set it's almost like that but more cards and modern, so like excited to see if anything sneaks as a cool card in a deck. Like if someone cheats in a Morophon with Ezio that'd be fun, though not sure if that's worth doing. Hope the singles won't be too expensive so I can grab the ones I want.
@@madmox86 Some sets aren't on MTGO right after their release. For example, I believe it took over a year for the Warhammer 40000 set to be released on MTGO despite some Legacy playable cards.
Not sure if this is going to be the case as long as they don't print cheap cards that can make use of exiled cards (as opposed to cards that are active in exile themselves). The only one I can think of is Karn, the Great Creator, and it's both not cheap and not really used for its "back from exile" ability. Graveyard is a different beast because a lot of cards can make value from other cards in graveyards.

Kytheon, Hero of Akros, and Isamaru, Hound of Konda. Only 2 I can think of in Modern.
Skrelv and Tamiyo seem good. Both would allow for reliable unblocked attacks.

senu can become very stupid in future with stuff like selective memory (if wizards prints more cards that come back from exile in some way)
