    Hey guys! I just wanted to let you guys know that I will be trying this palette out more, and continue trying to use it and make it work for me so I can best let you guys know if its worth it, so far - not so great BUT I will hopefully get some use out of it and be able to maybe give you some tutorial ideas - in the mean time there are definitely other RUclipsrs out there who have done looks with it - and who do love it. This is just my initial first thoughts, so definitely not set in stone, things can change! LOVE YOU ALL!

      RawBeautyKristi Hopefully it works out for you the next time you use it! I didn't buy subculture bc of reviews(particularly yours❤) & after playing with it in store, it just looked very difficult to work with (although the shades are gorge) But I bought the prisim the day it hit stores & I'm thinking of buying a back up during the vib sale because it's my absolute favorite palette now! I really feel inspired with it! Just goes to show how makeup is so personal, & everyone has different preferences & standards. ❤❤❤❤ Srry so long lol.

      Try using an eyelid primer or glitter glue? Instead of concealer? (Which I assume you laid down first instead.) The concealer might be muddying the shadow, diluting the pigment, perhaps? (referring to the green shimmer shadow.)

    Tbh, I find it super annoying how people are like “you’re not using the shadows right. You have to change this, this, this, and this.” Yet neither product came with any indication they needed to be used differently until people called ABH out, be it bullshit or ABH overlooking an important thing to tell their consumers about their new product... most people arent going to reach for a product they can only use certain primers, brushes, techniques, etc with. I don’t have time for that BS, and neither do most people.

    I think it's just theme-less. The MR palette was an ode to Italy and the vibrant colors of love, art, and awakening. The Subculture palette was urban sheik with a grungy undertone. This looks like quads thrown together in a boring attempt to make a quick penny for the holidays. I walked straight passed it without a second look.

      Maddie Trail Of course I know what the term fucking prism means, honey. Don't bring me that sass. But calling a palette "prism" isn't a "theme". Thats the same thing as calling a palette "colors." 🤦😩

    • @foreverskrillex
      @foreverskrillex 7 лет назад +17

      Ali Star Can you guys quit it with the fucking sass? Goddamn. She asked why it didn't interest her like MR and and the other did, and I provided a possible cause. No, a palette doesn't have to have a theme just like you apparently don't have to have a clue to comment ^

    I don't get why people come for RUclipsrs when they have issues with products or don't like products. You totally did it wrong Kristi, you judged too harshly, it's only because you think the shades are boring, etc. You gave it every chance you would any other product, you tried more than a few times to blend it. It's not her lights, it was patchy and didn't blend! No every palette may not be bad, maybe she just got a bad one who knows. But it's not her technique, this chick is talented. Go watch her Halloween looks and other tutorials to see just how much talent she has. Not every product will work for every single person, and people are still allowed to dislike something.

    Hi girl, the colour scheme in this palette speaks to me the most out of all three. I really love it, hence why I got the Prism myself. I don’t have issues using it, it’s extremely pigmented but there isn’t that much kickback or fallout. I actually had little to none fallout while doing pretty heavy, smokey look. I’d only advise to be light handed as the colours are really pigmented and you might not want to have too much colour on your eye lid if you’re going for softer look. Xx

    I haven't tried Subculture but I love my Prism palette! I was surprised that you went straight into Parallel in the crease because it's such a dark color. I love using Lure and Eden as my transition shades and THEN deepen up the crease with Saturn and/or Parallel. I also never have a problem packing on the shimmers with a Fix+ dampened brush. It would be such a shame if there are inconsistencies in different peoples' Prism palettes :(

It's stupid that she went for a dark shade because dark shades are usually harder to blend. In every damn palette. So idk.

    What frustrates me is that subculture and prism seem to have "directions" and everyone is trying to crack the code on how to use them correctly. I think shimmers should work as a shimmer regardless of using them wet or dry or with your finger or a brush. For example, Jaclyn Hill x Morphe, the shimmers show up no matter what. They are better wet but still nice if they are dry. The shimmer you used on your lid here was not good in any way except with your finger. Disappointed in ABH palletes. Modern Renaissance was perfect. Why did they have to fix something that wasn't broken? :/

    • @shanr6109

    Gurl if you can't get a cut crease to blend its def the product. Its not your blending skills. Im tired of the excuse that the palette is for make artist not for beginners or its loose pigment. The only people I've seen nake this work are those who use 2 colors and dab the colors on they don't blend them. Why should you have to change the way you do make up for this palette and if that's the case why not put those instructions on the package. I don't know.

      Pallets are made in batches (if you didn’t know) so it probably wasn’t anything she did wrong but your batch might have been great and the batch she had was not good ( obviously ) so it probably wasn’t her brushes or anything . It probably was the batch inconsistency 🤷‍♀️

    Sad that you don’t like it😢cuz i love it! The colours selection i happen to think is super cool, pretty and wearable! And I used a different setting spray for the shimmers and it worked like you’d think fix plus would! Also wasn’t that patchy and unblendable as when you did it, not as much fallout either! Strange...😢

    From what I’ve experienced with this palette, the shimmers work best with a very stiff synthetic flat brush and you gotta dig in there. As far as the mattes, I liked them best when I didn’t set my Tarte shape tape with powder 🤷🏾‍♀️ like just let it dry down on its own and then use the shadows

    Hey Kristi!
    Maybe try using a Mac paint pot or other cream base so start with. Not saying that will fix everything but I work at Ulta and have been through training on both of the palettes and that's how we were told to use them. The ABH reps said that the formula was designed to go over things like their cream pots or true eye shadow primers; and that concealer can be too emollient and cause issues. Which I have definitely noticed with my subculture palette. For me, it works best over a Mac paint pot.
    I hope that helps! Thanks for always keeping it real girl!

      Phoenix Hunter Yeah I typically apply very sheer layers and build them up with a tiny bit of powder each time, so I loved the way Subculture blended and worked together. Prism is a daily use palette for me, I can do so many different looks and I get inspired every time I open it up 🙌🏼

    I really didn't like Subculture. I can sort of get it to work but its not worth the effort to get it to work for the most part. I like this one far better, but that's like saying I like having my bank account have $10 vs being in the negative. Prism is a better palette, but its far below the Mod. Ren palette or the Mario palettes. I don't know what's up with ABH, but they are in jeopardy of going to "I need to see a couple dozen reviews before I get it" when they were "I'll buy anything they put out for my eyes"

    I bought this palette last week and have been using it every day. So far I’ve gotten some really nice looks! I’d recommend watching Samantha Ravndahl’s video where she does 4 looks with this palette, it really inspired me to see what kind of looks this palette could create. When I first saw the palette back in October, I thought it didnt look cohesive at all and thought I’d 100% be passing on it. After watching some videos on it, I fell in love with the versatility of the shadows and knew I needed to buy it. I really like this palette. I’ve had no issues blending the shadows, and like all of them aside from Obsidian which I think isn’t the blackest black I’ve ever tried. Please give this palette another chance Kristi! I’m sorry it didn’t work out for you :( I love your videos and I believe you’re always honest about your opinions.

    I've noticed a thing. I struggle when I lay down Tarte Shape Tape as a base (even with Laura Mercier or another powder over it). When I use my MAC Painterly Paint Pot and the sent it, I don't struggle. I've been playing with this palette for about a month, and that's how I got it to work. That’s a great observation - quad-ing the shades together like that I bet would work great together. The only drawback from my perspective was that there wasn’t any TRUE transition shades for me. I need medium toned neutrals.

  • @DessaDessaDessa
    @DessaDessaDessa 7 лет назад +2

    I totally agree that the colors look super strange together in the palette at first but for some reason it works?? I almost didn't get it because it's so weird looking but I'm honestly glad I did bc Saturn and Osiris are beautiful. The mattes definitely require a light hand, not as much as subculture but they definitely work better if you blend as you go rather than applying color and then trying to blend it out. Subculture especially works best if you layer the color exactly how you want it to look instead of trying to blend outward, if that makes any sense

    hm interesting. I never really had this issue with prism. Maybe it's the powder you are using to set your concealer on your lid? I've found that I am able to blend ABH shadows easily (and that includes subculture to some extent) if I use translucent powder on my lid instead of a colored powder. Maybe that could help if you used a colored powder. Best ~

    I wonder if something about that Throne color with the Fix+ With the concealer base underneath is whats causing the issue with that particular formula. Its a shame, Throne looks So gorgeous in the pan. Saturn does look pretty patchy & annoying. :/ What a bummer. Cool trick with the chartreuse! Usually chartreuses look awesome in the pan but almost always pretty lackluster. You shouldnt have to struggle so hard to have it only get kind of slightly shittier to then only get a tiny bit better with 3x as much effort. :/ Your reviews are already definitely just as awesome as SN's! In regards to Sub Culture pallette, no one I know likes it. They all have the same issues, as for this video I am bummed because I have to go to work and wait to watch it in the morning. :( Edit: I fast forwarded and those swatches on your arm makes great bruises! Lmao

      I have and LOVE my subculture. Most of my friends do too.

      Stef nicole, Kathleen Lights, Wayne Goss, Emilynoel, like the palette. Weird because they’re all my trustworthy youtubers. I bought it because of them and extremely disappointed. I can’t even create a decent look out of that palette because the darker shades r sooo patchy.

      Love my palette too! Use it almost everyday! Maybe got a different batch? No idea, but i don’t have any problems with mine.

    Your two second flashback to the look you made with the Huda DD pallet just sold me on it. GORGEOUS.
