I loved this episode and learned a lot. I enjoyed the diversity of the songs you played. The clip of Wayne made me laugh (totally relatable), and your kid's tiny piano was very cute.
Only question now is "how long will it take for someone from Fender to see this vid, imagine the potential gold mine, and then approach you about releasing the Chris Buck Brown Face Super Reverb signature amp??" ... you'd probably get a few free to gig with and could retire the original to home use!! Lol ... Some awesome tone in this episode Chris... great work as always! 🤘
Hey Chris, the jam at 8:00 was the first thing I ever heard from you (back in pauls video) and I fell in love with your playing instantly! I still go back to that video sometimes just to listen to your part. So happy to see it here as well, it deserves more recognition. Also thanks for everything else you create, it truly is a trip! Love from Germany :)
Always love your videos Chris, and of course your playing! I’ve got 14 guitars, but my 2013 SG ‘61 became my #1 when I bought it used about 6 years ago
That intro-JAM is one of the most inspiring tunes I've ever heard. I am playing it every week during the last three years. My inspirational muses: Knopfler-Metheny-Buck
My Highway One Stratocaster îs the Queen of all my 18 guitars - I also have a black Yamaha Revstar equiped with Gibson pickups and I also love it ! Be blessed , Master Chris !
I was lucky to play in a band with a buddy who had an OG '61 SG. What a sound!! Years later I was lucky enough to buy one for myself... What a guitar!! I then got an Historic series '64 reissue which was great as well but those OG 61's were incredible. Super guitars! Thanks Chris.
I like your list. I understand having certain tools of the trade. It’s like a custom knife set for a Chef or a well set up rifle for a hunter. I really enjoy the tones of your Revstar.
I've tried hard to tell the different guitars without looking. What shines in each one is that it is umistakeably Chris Buck playing. Which is a huge tribute to the guitarist not the bit of kit
I bought a used 87 Jubilee 25/50 from a friend in High School for 400 bucks. At the time, he preferred his JCM800. I still have it. It’s a bit tattered but it has the tone. It blew over in Pacifica CA off the cabinet before a gig and crashed to the pavement. Thank god it still did the gig!
When you find the right one, don’t ever let it go. I have, I did, I learned. I beg all that care, no matter what is happening in your life, please do not sell the beautiful things you’re passionate about. It’s an awful feeling later on when you realize you didn’t really need too and were only reacting. Sorry. That is all. Oh, and thank you Chris. You are a young, and you play well. It’s good.
Great vid chris! Like the slash reference and sj availability prior to reissue. This set indeed was my covid indulgence along with a mockingbird. Took a few months but totally worth it. Best wishes!
I, too, have a Super Reverb with brown tolex. Originally, it was a Silver-Panel Super Reverb from the early 1970's and - at one point - had been converted from a combo to a head. A friend of mine rebuilt it to Black-Panel spec, put it in a new cabinet, and covered the cabinet with brown tolex. It is a VERY special amp. You enjoy yours and I'll enjoy mine! Keep up the great work! :)
Of all things, the bridge pickup on your Gibson is was intrigues me the most. It has a sweet singing voice, never shrill or piercing, no matter what you play it through.
Man, that tune at 12:41... recognised those intro chords from Snakepit instantly. Happy to see you're familiar with such an underrated band! Awesome stuff Chris.
The JCM Split Channel is THE GOAT! But it’s the Schenker model bro - the Silver Jubilee has a way different vibe. Also the Gibson USA ‘61 SG from the 2000’s is a beast- I have one.
A Ferris Bueller AND a Wayne's World reference. Very nice Chris. I was having a Wayne's World moment when I saw the Jaguar at the end of the video. Cheers
@@davidpepper442 Aha! Of course! That was one of my old man’s favourite cars, hence it coming to me off the top of my head. That said, Ferris Bueller was probably in there rattling around as well 😆
Buyers be aware!! when you want to chase the Marshall amp. JCM800 is not ONE amp, it is a series of (quite different) amps - in head, 1x12 and 2x12 versions. They come in 50w and 100w versions. There are 3 main typologies: 4-input Plexi/Super Lead style, the early 2-input MV style and the later real 2 channel style with channel switching, that Chris is talking about here. If you want to find one of those you have the following options: 2205/2210 50w and 100w heads, 4210 1x12 50w combo, 4212 2x12 50w combo, and the one Chris shows 4211 2x12 100w combo. 50w and 100w items are very similar in sound, but not exactly the same. Hope that helps you to find the amp you are looking for.
Hi mate, love your videos and the skill and the wisdom you give out to us so freely. can i please ask how you make your backing tracks? THey're superb. Cheers R
SG and a Super Reverb. Very Derrick Trucks /Allman Brothers type rig. The brown face cosmetics remind of Pete Townsends Vibro King's paired with brown 212 cabs. Tens paired with twelves is awesome.
Second on the EP Booster. When I built my new board I just went ahead and put it under the deck. I never turn it off and I don’t change the level (right around 9pm.)
Agree that the Trelicopter is an excellent pedal, I used to own a Demeter Tremulator which I foolishly sold, the Trelicopter is close. But... my favourite trem pedal now is the Fredric Effects West Germany Tremolo. Love it!
Same for me on EP Booster - planned on just using to boost solos but it sounds so good that I keep it on all the time now. Works well with overdrive and fuzz pedals too.
Fun! Always enjoyable listening to your playing, thanks for that! Guitars aside I have a few - probably replaceable but still . . . (1) My Vox Valvetronix Tonelab - for more than a decade it was happily sitting on the side of the desk as TV commercials came streaming thru the door and needed an immediate guitar track! (2) My Paul Crowther (Double) Hot Cake. It was my one and only OD / Distortion Pedal since the mid 70s - 2 of them were 'borrowed' so I called Paul and now enjoying his more recent '3 in 1' version. (3) Effectrode Blackbird - always on, for a lot my DI recording the 3 valve thing gives me a Fender / Dumble 'halo' (4) Neo Ventilator II - I can't afford a Leslie so unless I can use a real one on the odd occasion this does the trick (5) TC Electronics Alter Ego - I grew up with WEM Copycat and Roland Space Echo and this one gives me lots of retro options when I don't want super clean digital delay. I still have my vintage Fender Blues Junior amp but I've found over the years that a decent Fender Twin, Marshall Combo, Vox AC30 even a Roland Jazz Chorus are fine for outside wokr live or studios so there ya go 😃
14:27 I have to admit that a tremolopedal is something I got to have on my board and I just love using it. I had the Trelicopter, but recently swapped it for a Tone City Tremble, because that pedal has a volumeknob, so it can make up for the small volumeloss you get while using tremolo. Nice vid, btw. As usual.... 😉
I use a Line 6 Pod Go to practise at home and also find, that there is no useful tremolo pedal inside there. I use a Harley Benton (Joyo) Vintage Tremolo in the Effects Loop of the Pod Go, that does the job! So I fully understand, that you keep the Mooer Trelicopter
A very high percentage of the time when I’ve heard some playing live and thought I need to know what amp that is, it was a BF Super Reverb. In other instances, it was often another Fender with 10” speakers (Vibrolux and Princeton). For whatever reason, Fender 10s can sound amazing.
Hey Chris, that amp you should have a local amp builder or someone you know like Martin Kidd to document it. That way if something happens to it, they can make a replacement amp.
Had a house fire 1985. I was 17. Grabbed my white 75’Gibson sg as the house was burning to the ground. Sold it 2 years later 😢. Been searching for it for 30 years on and off.
Stood directly in front of that Super Reverb in Utrecht last month. Best night ever! 😆
Ears still ringing?😂
Best night ever??
You need to get out more🤣
Forget about whatever this video is about - that intro on the Les Paul is unreal. Straight to my favourites.
The SG part is out of space as well... What planet are you coming from Chris ????🤯
That live clip with the Super Reverb is absolutely incredible. Your playing is so lyrical.
Good lord man, you must be the most underrated guitar player on this planet. That opening piece was/is EPIC.
The intro jam 🤯
I was about to say the same thing!
Hands down one of my favorite players been trying to copy quite a bit over the past year or so....
Just listening 15 seconds is enough to get goose bumbs. He has magic in his fingers.
Mean Bone was an excellent riff choice, astoundingly well played too Chris 🤘
Damn that SG solo was off the charts! Even for you, a player who never fails to get a Damn from me.
8:20 and I grab my guitar trying to recreate something else that CB does that just blows my mind...
Great post. I do sincerely love to watch your right hand work.
Truly a thing of beauty to behold
I really love today's JAMS, hope there's just as good solos on the new album...
Love the outro jam. Nice fuzz tone and hard rock playing
Loved it
Every Friday is better watching your videos and listening your playing, you are absolutely a reference for me in guitar playing, sound and style!!
Never seen the low e string smacked out of the bridge saddle, intense playing and pro commitment to play through
Your last solo was GREAT!!
I could never go past the Custom Revstar. Man I love that thing..👍
I loved this episode and learned a lot. I enjoyed the diversity of the songs you played. The clip of Wayne made me laugh (totally relatable), and your kid's tiny piano was very cute.
It’s a good day!! New CB video.

Chris Buck has done brown face? Racist!

Was it from a song recorded, you got the name. I’ll have a listen
I've heard it for the very first time in this clip from 3 years ago:

I don't know the name
ahh, maybe its not in a song . does sound cool but

Who can drag me away from NAMM videos - Chris can!

Mannnnnnnn!!!! What a sick Les Paul Custom at the start. Beautiful axe, beautiful playing, beautiful tone!

The best tone out there. Love your sound

I've got an '89 50w 2x12 jcm800. I imagine the 100w is a fire breather. Phenomenal playing as always, young man.
+1 on the EP Booster....I've had my little beat-to-crap EP since they were released and you are right - it's a "makes it better" pedal.
I’ve summarized the time quest report here: “see Chris Buck, hear Chris Buck”.
I, too, have a Super Reverb with brown tolex. Originally, it was a Silver-Panel Super Reverb from the early 1970's and - at one point - had been converted from a combo to a head. 8.00 low e string out of saddle still sounded amazing ...
Of all things, the bridge pickup on your Gibson is was intrigues me the most. It has a sweet singing voice, never shrill or piercing, no matter what you play it through.
Yes, what pickup is that one?
Mr Buck - please record a instrumental album.
Yes to this!
Glad you like the Highway 1 Strat. I bought one new when they came out and I still love it.
That opening piece Chris was incredible. I’m
Trying to learn it as we speak. Hopefully you will release that ?
These solos featured here are out of this world. Wow.
Great Video Chris!!.. I'd love to see a full guitar collection video. Btw Phenomenal playing brother.. 🤘❤️
Hey there CJ
Or maybe you are Lewis Hamilton?
Man, that tune at 12:41... recognised those intro chords from Snakepit instantly. Happy to see you're familiar with such an underrated band!
Awesome stuff Chris.
My go to amp is my 1965 Super reverb.. mine is all original with the exception of a cap job.. they are remarkable amps!
The JCM Split Channel is THE GOAT! But it’s the Schenker model bro - the Silver Jubilee has a way different vibe. Also the Gibson USA ‘61 SG from the 2000’s is a beast- I have one.

Haha! What was the Ferris Bueller reference? I love that film so any reference was probably subconscious! 😂
You referred to the Ferrari 250 GT California. My dream car for sure ever since I saw that movie. Have a great weekend Chris!
@@davidpepper442 Aha! Of course! That was one of my old man’s favourite cars, hence it coming to me off the top of my head. That said, Ferris Bueller was probably in there rattling around as well 😆
That Super Reverb is like Triggers broom, just about everything has been replaced.

Awesome to see some love for the SG ! Sounds ace especially in that heavy rock track
Delicious!!! The Yammer thru the Super, amazing!! Thanks Chris!!!

I love how those SGs look, but I've never been able to dig those wide fretboards. Not a problem for you Chris. Everything you play sounds amazing!!
Thanks for the extended solo from the CB gig. Great!
Same for me on EP Booster - planned on just using to boost solos but it sounds so good that I keep it on all the time now. Works well with overdrive and fuzz pedals too.
Love that outro!
Just discovered your channel.... Man, your playing is fantastic!!!! Instant my favourite guitar channel!
My first electric guitar was the Waynes World Special Edition Squire Stratocaster. It is a great Japan made strat that I still love.
Really liked that Fender Jag in the last jam. Sounds great, look great!

the intro, nice!

Mr Buck...please put together a tour w Rhett Shull’s band..and come to California so I can see my two favorite bands please...😁👍🏻
